I have 2 questions regarding our stay in Miami prior to a Carnival cruise on the Horizon. First we are staying at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott the night before the cruise. Called the hotel and they said they have a shuttle to Miami port. Any info on this hotel (good or bad) and is the shuttle free? Second we are planning on getting an Uber from Miami port back to Fort Lauderdale airport after the cruise. Our plane doesn't leave until 4:00 pm but I would like to reserve the Uber prior to the cruise. If I choose the Miami Port as the pick up location how will the Uber driver know were to pick us up in the port? Will he drive into the area where the Horizon docks? Thanks

I am thinking of taking my 2 grandkids ages 10 and 14 on a Carnival cruise ( 5 day) this summer out of Jacksonville Florida. Talking to my travel agent, she said they do Not need a passport, but if something happens they would not be able to fly back into the US from Nassau. The ship stops at Nassau and their private island. Looking for input from other grandparents who have taken their grandkids on a cruise regarding any hassles with customs or the cruise line. Do the kids need their original birth certificates? Also a notarized letter from the parents giving us permission to take the kids? Any info would be appreciated.

Wife and I are sailing out of Norfolk September 2. We were also worried about the parking situation since we will be driving from Richmond. I found this information on the Sept 2 Magic board. I am pretty sure you can drop off your bags as soon as you enter the parking lot. Hope this helps. https://nauticus.org/cruise-parking-directions/ I think/hope Carnival has improved the situation after the horrible problems they had last year, with cars being broken into, rammed, and major delays... the lot holds 1200 cars so should be ample considering a lot of people ride together, get dropped off, fly in, etc. I haven't heard of the lot filling. We will be driving in the morning of from Raleigh. First time out of Norfolk for us.

Wife and I are cruising on Magic on September 2. We are from Richmond, VA so it is a little over an hour drive to Norfolk. When we have cruised out of Baltimore or Bayonne we stayed at a Park & Cruise hotel and that worked out really well. For Norfolk we are planning on driving down the morning of the cruise. I have read that parking in the cruise parking lot can be a hustle. My big worry is getting there and finding the parking lot full and having to quickly find another lot for the 8 day cruise. Any suggestions or comments for parking would be appreciated. Can you reserve a spot in the cruise parking lot before the day of the cruise? Maybe I am just over thinking this. Thanks
