Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I think wrk2cruise is correct. I don't think that Celebrity is applying the amount of the Bahamas increase to each individual booked amount. I have read that the total amount of increase would be $12 per person, and that is not what we are seeing. Go to the Celebrity website and do a dummy booking for your affected cruise. Click on "review & pay" and look at the amount for taxes and fees. For me, it was the same as the new amount shown in the notification letter. I bet it will be the same for you. Taxes and fees change regularly on the Celebrity website, and you get charged the going rate at the time you book. I have several cruises booked, and the taxes and fees shown on the website have changed since my initial booking for all but one cruise. Celebrity has not changed the amount I owe for taxes and fees for those bookings.
  2. Quote from their Best Price Guarantee page: Request to Add or Change an Added Value Offer Celebrity will 1) apply an Added Value Offer to booking and 2) go to prevailing eligible cruise fare NOTE: If either the new cruise fare or Added Value Offer is not combinable with any promotion associated with the existing booking, or changes are being made outside of promotional booking window, the existing promotion will be removed from the booking. No refund or exchange will be given on a promotion offer (added value) NOTE: an Added Value Offer refers to an amenity added to your booking, such as an onboard credit, specialty dining, shore excursion, etc. To me, this means that any OBC you got from your initial booking (the "existing promotion") would be deleted, along with any other promotions that were included in that booking, as you are now booking under the new terms. Would it still be a total savings to rebook? If yes, I still think you should be able to.
  3. I think you should be able to do what you want to do. You are not changing ship or sail date - that would kick in the $200 hit, not what you are proposing to do. I would call back and talk with a different person.
  4. Mike - I'd go with 1642, which shows as available. This is in the area of Aqua rooms that we prefer, rather than those forward. It's not obstructed, and cabins are both above and below so noise should not be a problem. Bed is near the bath. And I think you will appreciate BLU for dinner. Enjoy!
  5. Off topic, but since I can’t message IWGA26 - Zora is indeed still cruising. She was on the Eclipse in April for its first voyage since covid: Vancouver to Hawaii and return, then on to Alaska. She is an assistant beverage manager, and we saw her almost daily as she made her rounds when we had our espresso in Café al Bacio after dinner. She is a pleasure to know, and we also hope to cruise with her again.
  6. It isn't really meaningful to compare the "sale" prices of today with prices that I received 6 months ago when I booked. In six months, some cruises have increased by thousands of dollars, while others may not have increased at all. Knowing that this sale was coming, last night I checked prices on two cruises, two cabin categories each. Today with the "sale" prices, three cabins had increased prices by $100 PP and the fourth by $90, so if I book them all, I'm paying $780 more to get $800 more OBC.
