  1. I was a scuba diver having dived in many world spots. So I took that name and appended it with our location when not sailing or diving. Due to age I no longer scuba dive anymore. 😟
  2. We have a cruise scheduled for 1/7/2021 and paid. Will it sail? I seriously doubt it right now so we will be getting the usual "refund" to be applied to a later cruise along with a bonus for holding our money for perhaps a year the way it looks.
  3. We are scheduled for a cruise on January 9. As long as masks, social distancing and real health checks are required we will feel moderately safe to sail. The three ports of call we have been to many times before and usually stay on the ship or leave the ship staying in the port area. Any requirement to only take cruise line tours is not an issue with us. The fun is sailing, watching the seas go by, sun rise and set and the ship options onboard.
  4. Getting out my Ouija Board and checking for the probability of a cruise occurring in 2021. Hmm, the board must be broken!
  5. We have completed several cruises out of Seattle and one north bound AK cruise out of Vancouver. We have never had a tender port and all three ports (Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway) have been visited. We did try to do Tracy Arm once and was not able to go all the way in due to the ice floating in the water (it was in September). Just looked at the options for 2021 and it appears they now use Endicott Arm located next to Tracy Arm. I have heard on here that some ports get overcrowded and some ships are required to tender.
  6. Never is such a nasty word. Perhaps maybe never is better as things do happen depending on who is paying the congressmen.
  7. Yes and from what I have read it rivals the stop in Ensenada, MX for being worthless maybe more so.
  8. Conditions will never return to the days before the pandemic. We will be living in a new world of changed conditions and attitudes. I believe there will be a return of the cruise ships but with new and different rules regarding personal safety. We are currently booked on 5 cruises in 2021 and 2 so far in 2022. Whether any or all will actually set sail is yet TBD. The rules mentioned so far are not a determinant to our cruising and necessary to ensure our safety. We certainly will miss the "way it was" but not totally. There is hope for a better future.
  9. The Grand is a significantly smaller ship and rapidly becoming the oldest ship in the fleet. The Royal is a newer ship with all the bells and whistles of modern ships. If you want a smaller aging ship with design of yesteryear this may well be your ship. If you want a larger ship with up to date amenities pick the Royal. The Grand used to have a Skywalkers night club up over the stern like the Golden and Star (now both have left the fleet) but was removed due to cracks in the superstructure making it dangerous. The Grand does have an inside pool which may be important in the colder AK climate while the Royal does not. The Royal has more and varied food choices all over the ship including a redesigned and larger buffet (may not be any more though due to the pandemic).
  10. Princess notified us by email that anyone with reservations on the Sun to AK in July 21 can rebook on the Crown for one of the two AK cruises next Wednesday. However elite window will open on Tuesday and will include pax currently booked on the now defunct Sun cruise that month. Any monies paid to sail on the Sun will be automatically transferred to the Crown AK cruise for those still wanting to sail. It appears as though the reservation 6 character ID will remain the same with only the ship changed and the cost the same but some port fees increased. Nice part is that all the ports will be US ports excluding the mandatory stop in BC. Side note when will the US Congress remove the antiquated mandatory visit to an international port when only cruising to US ports.
  11. We are scheduled to be on the Vista out of Galveston on January 9. It will be perhaps the second sailing of the Vista so not sure how we feel about being the second to leave Galveston on the Vista. However with things changing like they have been we may or may not get the opportunity to sail.
  12. This is what they seem to have done. Vines is only busy before dinner time. Other than that it does not seem to be used to sell wine. A waste of valuable space I imagine so they are trying something different. We loved Vines for a before wine experience and will miss it. Other bars will lack the ambiance of Vines and the excitement.
  13. We were on the Sun Princess in July 2021. The email we received from Princess was that the new sailings on an undisclosed ship was to be released on October 6 for elite members and on October 7 for the general public. We have since learned but not confirmed by Princess that the undisclosed ship will be the Crown. For those already paid for the Sun cruise, we can move all the funds over to the new sailing on 7/3 or 7/17 without any penalty. No guarantee the price for the cruise will be the same however.
  14. The ship name is to be determined before the October 6 posting. The Grand, Emerald, Ruby, Majestic and Sapphire are already committed for AK cruises in July so doubt it would be any of them. The Crown does not seem to have any itinerary for April 16 through October 27. All other ships in the fleet appear to be committed. Stay tuned for the real answer.
