  1. Yes, I've read horror stories of cell phone charges at sea. I use my phone's camera, so right away I switch it to airplane mode until I'm back on solid ground.
  2. Thanks for your suggestions. P.S. I love your name: "No Fuss Travel"! 😄
  3. Thanks, hubofhockey. I'm looking forward to the luxury of time and seeing what my limit is!! 🙂
  4. VPN!! I keep forgetting to research and install one. This is a good reminder. Thanks.
  5. Alcpa1, thanks for the suggestions. I especially like your comment about rugs. I didn't want one, didn't intend to buy one...but now there's a gorgeous Moroccan rug in my living room! 🙂 3 weeks! Yes, I think I'm going to enjoy retirement. 🙂
  6. This is good to know. Thanks, Mrs. Gee. I’ll check it out.
  7. No, I didn't know about that! That could be very helpful. Do they scan only First Class mail or bulk mail too (like catalogues and junk mail)?
  8. Yes, I do pay bills online. But what about unexpected mail? You never know when something might need to be addressed. (It's probably my corporate mindset, but I'm used to assessing risk!) 🙂
  9. I'm finally planning to retire (YAY!!) and to celebrate, we booked a 3-week cruise plus 2-3 overnights on each end. The longest we've ever been away has been 2 weeks, so I just had USPS hold the mail and then hit the road. I'm looking forward to a longer cruise but am wondering what you all do to manage your lives back home while you're traveling, i.e., mail, bills, etc. Can you share any tips from your own experience?
  10. We just disembarked a couple of weeks ago from Insignia. We had to be off the ship by 9:00 a.m. luggage pickup was super quick. No, O doesn’t send luggage to airport - at least I didn’t see that option. Our flight was also late in the afternoon at 4pm. We went straight to Miami airport and went right through security. Waited on the terminal side for a few hours.
  11. We were on this same sailing, and there were quite a few passengers using scooters. As the OP pointed out, the elevators are quite compact, and access through outside deck doors is challenging for anyone with mobility issues. Maybe they weren’t aware of this when they booked. I would not recommend the R ships for those folks. I disagree with the OP about the music. With my nose in a book even on the pool deck, I was very pleased they didn’t have thumping music out there. Different strokes, right? Food is subjective, and it’s one of the reasons we love O - the food and the staff. Someone mentioned the menu in GDR was smaller than in the past. I have to say there wasn’t one night when we didn’t see something on the menu that excited us. In fact I actually prefer the GDR to Polo. I’m sure many will disagree with that statement, but that’s OK too. Key take-away is to do your research to understand if your expectations fit the product. Happy sailing!
  12. Brad, thanks for such a thorough review. We were also on that cruise and spent a good amount of time in the library. Probably sat near you in those fabulous leather chairs! I agree with your assessments, except I can’t comment on the evening entertainment. I read three books on that cruise so I had my own entertainment. 😁 The ship is bright, modern and lovely. You are spot-on about storage in the cabins; I said the same thing to my husband. We had an oceanview with plenty of space. Crew were terrific- always smiling and accommodating. We’ll be on Marina in a few months - our first time on O class - and we’re looking forward to it. However, we wouldn’t hesitate booking Insignia again.
  13. We’re currently on Insignia, and the socket by the bed is European type. I brought my own adapter just in case, and I’m glad I did. Bring your own adapter or request one. There are both US and Euro sockets on the desk, as well as USB ports.
