  1. Good evening. It’s raining again, has been for the past two days on and off. The backyard is soaked. Blue hates it and that’s always a struggle on rainy days. It was such a pleasure to see our names on the Celebration List for our cruise @dfish, @summer slope, @Quartzsite Cruiser! Happy Birthday to Sue @DWAliaschief and Terry @smitty34877!! Have a good evening everyone!
  2. I don't do many cocktails, I'm always just a SB (preferably from New Zealand) wine kind of girl. However, this one is nice and enjoyable once in a while. I'll join you and Lenda and hopefully Dixie will too.
  3. Thank you Vanessa, I did read that but am just concerned. I am just very cautious at this point since I just started treatment. I don't want to regress in anyway. This has been a tough road and I am just now seeing a very, very slight improvement.
  4. I was thinking the same thing! I actually order it several times during a cruise. I find it light, sip-able and very enjoyable.
  5. Good morning and Happy Thursday. I woke early today and will try to go back to sleep soon. I thought I posted on yesterday’s Daily but I think it just seemed like I did because I posted late on Tuesday’s thread. I got some more cruise things done. Craig got his flu and RSV. I’ve decided to forgo vaccinations right now because the biologic I’m on has safety precautions regarding them. Thank you Sandi @StLouisCruisers for the link to today’s port. Makes it so much easier to locate pictures. These are pre iPhone so not as easy to find either. Posted January 29, 2023 Good evening! We were in Newport on our wonderful Canada/New England cruise from New York to Quebec City in August 2009 on the Eurodam. DM was along for that cruise and we three had a great time. The day we were in Newport DM & I took a tour to the mansions and Craig went on a walking tour. He had the camera and since this was pre iphones I have no pictures of the mansions. The church where JFK and Jackie were married in 1953. On our mansions tour we saw the sprawling estate where she lived when she was younger (from a distance, not inside). Craig's tour didn't go inside the church but he did get this outside view. The day had turned cloudy.
  6. Good evening. I was finally able to reach a supervisor at Captel who approved the replacement of DM’s phone. First thing he said to me was that he saw how many times I had called over the last two months. I estimate that I’ve spent 5 hours on phone calls to customer service. Now I just hope it arrives in time for Craig to install it prior to our cruise. DM is getting anxious about certain things before our cruise with the phone being one of them, wine and pedicures are two more. @1ANGELCAT, I am so sorry about your friend’s fall. He must be in a lot of pain even though he didn’t break anything. I’m hoping for a quick recovery. I got some things done for our cruise, mostly for Blue. His dog tags are due while we are gone so I needed to get that done. And I emailed a current vaccine record to the pet resort. I am splurging on a deluxe room without a doggy door. I think the other dogs upset him. I also canceled a tour that we decided we didn’t need and booked some specialty dining. I hate booking specialty dining ahead of time because sometimes I just don’t feel like it but penciled it in anyway. Plus Craig’s vehicle tags are overdue. I don’t know what is happening but we didn’t get a notification. I did notice that the DMV had a wrong email and I updated that. Anyway our DD is currently borrowing the car so she’s going to have to take care of the emissions test. My skin rash is still a problem and I’m hoping that the biologic kicks in before we sail otherwise I might have to cancel a few tours. It’s a wait and see thing now. I did order a nifty injection pen cooler that holds two injections for the cruise. This will be a new traveling experience. Have a good evening!
  7. Good morning and Happy Tuesday. I woke too early today and am tired, and now it’s too late to go back to bed. I’ll just take an early nap. I like spicy food but if it’s really spicy it’s sometimes hard to enjoy the flavors. I’ve never had chard that I’m aware of. I’m thinking about making a bean and chicken casserole with biscuits. Yesterday was salmon and lingcod grain bowls. I forgot how much I like farro and need to make it more often. The lingcod was delicious. I’m getting a bit tired of salmon so made mine with that. Debbie @dfish, on my last cruise, the Volendam in April, late fixed seating was 7:45 but I always went right about 8:00 with no problem. I searched around and couldn’t find anything about our cruise. @Haljo1935, do you remember what time late fixed dining was on your cruise? Even though I don’t feel like it I’ve got to call the caption phone company for my DM for the 5th time. Long story but it hasn’t been taking voice messages. Have a great day everyone!
  8. Good evening from chilly Tucson. It’s been so cold lately and I’m a wimp in the cold. However, it’s going to warm up a bit this week before it gets cold again. I had my final post op Friday with the cataract surgeon and she said everything looks fantastic. I told her that it was a miracle and I don’t use that word lightly. Thank you @0106 for today’s recipes. I also love white lasagna but not with squash. Debbie @dfish, I’m glad you are back online. Dixie @summer slope, sorry to hear about your BCC. @sailingdutchy Bon Voyage! @tupper10, I don’t have any ideas for you about your DM other than to make sure she doesn’t have any more checks. I do all my DM’s banking and bills also but all but a few are on auto pay. She does have one set of checks to use as family gifts like Christmas. I don’t know how old your DM is but does she still drive? It might be hard to restrict her spending if she has access to her bank. Joy & Allen @Seasick Sailor, safe travels home! Have a good evening!
  9. Lenda, what a great idea! I think I’ll call them once onboard and ask. Worth a try. I might do that unless the medical center will take it. Thank you Vanessa!
  10. Thank you! Now I know not to freak out about this. Whew!
  11. This happened to me several times on the Volendam, not just at breakfast but at lunch too. Vanessa, Thank You so much for this information! I searched and searched last night and this morning on the HAL website for information about a sharps container without any luck. Did you ask your PCC or TA for this form or did you find it on the website? Thanks again!
  12. Good morning and Happy Saturday from a cold for us Tucson. The low this morning was 32F. The other day I told Craig not to take down the Nativity until the Wise Men came and he replied that it took two years. Well, two years is what scholars say but tradition is 12 days after Jesus birth. He took it down anyway. I have a question for those who travel with prescription injectables. So, at my last derm appointment my doctor told me that she thinks I have eczema and not psoriasis. They can look similar. She has started me on an injectable biologic and I should receive it next week. My question is what type of sharps container do you take? I found some travel ones but hate to purchase one without my good Dailyite friends advice. I will only need to do one injection during our cruise so I guess it doesn’t have to be too big. Just curious what others do while traveling. Joy @Seasick Sailor, so good to hear from you! Glad that the cruise is going well. Oh my goodness sakes, Oliver is just too cute and I totally get why you miss him. He will be so excited upon your return home! 🐾. I am so sorry about your friend falling. Hopefully no injuries. Sandi @StLouisCruisers, great pictures and commentary today! Love your blog. @Norseh2o, condolences to you and your family on your loss. Wonderful that the family could be together with her. She sounds like an amazing person. @1ANGELCAT, thoughts and prayers for your friend and her family. Have a great day everyone!
  13. Thank you for your reply. Best wishes on the job and hoping you are the final selection! I’m rooting for you. Yes 48 is very young but he accomplished so much during his lifetime. Wow. Great picture of the Daily group! I’ve had that one before but if I remember it’s over the $11 Signature Beverage pkg. When I was on the Volendam in April I had a hard time getting a good SB in the Ocean Bar in the pkg. They kept offering me ones over the limit. I didn’t mind paying for a few but didn’t want it to become each and every time, even though it was only the difference. After many requests they finally brought some from the other venues.
  14. Good morning and Happy Friday from chilly Tucson. I like most birds but the pigeons and doves are messy, especially when they frolic in our pool fountain. We’ve seen more roadrunners this year than usual. My favorite are cardinals but I haven’t seen any this year. We also have lots of hummingbirds. There is a well known hummingbird sanctuary and nature preserve southeast of us called Ramsey Canyon run by the Nature Conservatory. They even have a webcam https://video.nest.com/live/wPniJlgcTA We actually stayed there once back in the 90’s and enjoyed it very much. I think we’re having pizza today so will pass on the meal suggestion. I bought the dough this time so it will be an easy meal. Bruce & Sue @aliaschief @DWAliaschief, Bon Voyage! Enjoy your special cruise. Pennie @Nickelpenny, welcome home! Glad you finally found your car! Joy @Seasick Sailor, how are you and Allen doing? Still enjoying the cruise? Sandi @StLouisCruisers, I’ve been enjoying your cruise report. I remember reading it before but don’t remember the part about you actually being on South Georgia Island the same day Shackleton died. How touching that must have been. I think I’m reading his tombstone correctly, he was so young when he died, 48? Wow. I read the book years ago and couldn’t put it down thinking about everything that they went through. Nancy @ottahand7, I love HAL’s chili rellenos too. I’m enjoying your cruise report and hope you both have a great time. Did you find out the name of the Sauvignon Blanc that you didn’t like? Ann @cat shepard, I don’t comment on the wine very often but this one sounds wonderful. Thank you for always taking the time researching the wines. Dixie @summer slope, the drink sounds really good. I’m not a big cocktail drinker but this one sounds refreshing. However, I’d probably not buy strawberry vodka just for one drink. I’m sure muddled strawberries would work. @seagarsmoker, good to hear you are feeling better. Any word about your job search? Blue is wondering why I haven’t made his lunch yet. 🐕 Have a great day!
  15. Good evening. It’s been rainy and drizzling most of the day and cold. 🥶 @Nickelpenny Pennie, I hope you made it home okay, safe and sound. Jane @lazey1, I’m hoping your doctors can help with your mitral valve situation. I’m sure that’s why you’ve been tired and fatigued. Have a good night everyone and sleep well. 💤
  16. Good morning everyone and Happy Wednesday from chilly Tucson. Pennie @Nickelpenny, it might be raining when you arrive tonight so be extra careful driving home. And tomorrow the high will only be 48F, burrr. 🥶 I’m not a fan of stews so will pass on the meal. I can’t get my mind off of the chicken divan dish from yesterday so might make that soon. Today I think we’ll have leftovers. But I will celebrate sleep today. There is nothing like a good sleep. Last night I finished checking in for our cruise. Only a few things were missing so it didn’t take long. I also got notification that our OBC credit for our CCL stock was credited via the new app Stockperks. Very easy to do so don’t believe all the bad things about it posted on other threads. BTW, I had tried faxing it back in October and then emailing it in December but either I used a wrong number or something else went wrong. What an exciting day for the Grand cruises! Bon Voyage! Have a great day!
  17. Vanessa, it never ceases to amaze me how you keep track of everyone and wish well wishes to those who need them, especially when you need them yourself. Thank you so much for thinking of Craig. He’s still really tired but feeling better. I am hopeful that you will find relief for your pain.
  18. Good morning and Happy Tuesday from chilly Tucson. We had drizzle last night, quite unexpected. It’s going to stay chilly all week. I celebrated buffets yesterday at my DM’s retirement center. I joined her for New Year’s Day lunch. Craig has been under the weather with some kind of flu since Friday night and didn’t join us. It was actually quite nice except for the beef Wellington which was overcooked and hard as a rock. The best thing was the stuffed sole with shrimp. Bon Voyage to all those sailing in the next few days. So exciting! The list is long. Happy Anniversary to @RMLincoln! 🍾🥂 Happy Birthday to Sam @mamaofami! Happy Birthday to Sandi’s DDIL @StLouisCruisers! We sail 4 weeks from today on the Koningsdam to Hawaii! Finally I can start the countdown. My January is full of appointments, mostly for DM. Have a great day everyone!
  19. Debbie, so good to hear the surgery went well and you are home recovering and resting. Get better quickly and Hawaii here we come!
  20. That’s why they have the nickname Heart Attack Cats! I didn’t watch the game but heard we were won. My DM is a huge fan.
  21. Okay, so now I really need to know what the gifts are!! Please tell or just take a picture at the time!
  22. Forgot to tell Graham @grapau27 that the table Pauline set for Sarah is absolutely lovely! Are those Christmas crackers at each place setting? Never have had them and I would love to see them! It's all so beautiful. Please tell Pauline she sets a lovely table.
  23. Good early afternoon from sunny Tucson. It's supposed to rain tomorrow and be cooler over the weekend. We are still rearranging decorations around, crazy but it's okay and doesn't really matter to me as long as it's done before everyone comes for Christmas Day Brunch. We have a schedule for the next few days, and tomorrow I have a late afternoon derm f/u, I still have my psoriasis rash so hoping she can help me more than just what I'm already been doing. I hate late afternoon appointments because they interfere with my naps but I had no choice, they are closing for a week and my doctor is pregnant with her fourth child due in February and my January is full of appointments for DM, Craig, and myself prior to our cruise. And, I need to get to DM's to help fix her caption phone. We went the other day and thought it was fixed but it's still not taking messages. This has been ongoing for several weeks, oh dear. I have really tried hard to be at DM's beck and call lately after getting scolded for not delivering something she needed promptly. Oh well, I try. @Nickelpenny @Haljo1935 @GTVCRUISER Bon Voyage! So exciting to be on a cruise this time of year! Joy @Seasick Sailor, OMG on the icky night of illness. Hopefully it was just seasickness (sometimes it's subtle) and you are your best again soon. Rich, I am so glad to see you are in San Diego after the gate change. I am so jealous and wish I could join you, especially for trivia! I would love the drink of the day and it is usually the drink I start each cruise off with at the airport or on the flight. Debbie @dfish, the second recipe looks wonderful to me! However, we are doing easy meals until after Christmas, today we are having some TJ's enchiladas which are not bad if you add extra sauce and cheese to them. Graham @grapau27, thanks for the explanations of today's days. Blessings to all! Have a great day!
