  1. Here is my take on club class for suites. Was in suite for July Emerald cruise to Alaska. Personalizer has it listed as anytime dining. First time you use it (DaVinci)deck 6; the young lady will ask for your stateroom number. From then on she is always at front to greet you and seat you. She remembers your face. We had our two grandkids with us and the club class staff were excellent. The head waiter was most excellent. We always had a table for four; sometimes we sat by window; and sometimes in middle. There is seating for maybe 60 at one time. Now for the crown grill. We ate there for breakfast and I have to give a different opinion from Indygirl. The maitre d; was very nice. He greeted us each morning and was pleasant. Within a minute of seating us he brought over a big tray of fresh pastries. The menu does not have as many choices as club class; but they fix you whatever you want. I love pancakes; which are not on menu; but they made them. We had fresh pots of coffee and water; waiters were there to serve and did not engage in too much conversation; which was ok. We never had more than two other couples at breakfast. To be fair and objective; we did eat breakfast in DaVinci club class; it was nice but way nosier. Crown Grill was quiet and peaceful. There you have it. Club Class dining rocks but so does Crown Grill.

  2. This is accurate. What I posted previously is that all engines are operational. The problem is with one propulsion system that won't produce full speed, but rather 2 or 3 knots less than that. It's not good practice to run some at full speed and others less than that which causes imbalance and vibration. So, they run the "good" systems at a speed to match the one that has a problem.

The net result is that operationally the vessel is running at a lower than originally planned thus making the times between ports or waypoints longer. To accommodate the planned itinerary they had to remove a couple of ports and others that were better fitted geographically so the ship could run a few knots slower.

As mentioned, this in no way puts the ship in an unsafe operating condition and is capable of providing whatever is needed to keep the passengers, crew, and ship safe.

HI I just looked at your beautiful photos. Do you carry a lot of equipment with you on cruises. And do you take cruises mainly to photograph the ports of call?

  3. Keep an eye on your flights. The airline will most likely change the times again. Airlines usually adjust their schedules every quarter. They change size of aircraft or times based on bookings. If flight is over 30 min time difference you usually can change without a charge. My Alaska flight changed three times over a year.

  4. The OP wanted to be able to use the third outlet which is a European style outlet. That is why I suggested buying just the adapter and using a standard US multi port USB adapter. We did that on the Pacific because we had some items that were not USB powered and needed a separate outlet.

    got it. I understand

  5. I believe all the cruise lines have raised the price in their specialty dining venue's. we ate in crown grill last month and everything was perfect. Food, ambiance, service, desserts. For those who want the fine dining experience at sea and have the money to pay for the more expensive ships; then I say go for it. Like others who mentioned in above threads; cruising with 3000 plus passengers you have the choice to eat in one of the free dining venues; or if you want less crowds you can dine in a specialty venue. We all have a choice; so the choice to choose is always available. Please don't pick on Princess for raising their prices; as all the cruise lines have done this. I cruise with Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Princess; they all have raised prices in the pay venues; it is not just Princess. That's my story and I am sticking to it. Crown Grill Rocks

  6. In looking at the new menu, none of the appetizer options work for me. Is it possible to get something else, maybe off the MD menu? For the extra $29 I really want to, at least, try to my money's worth.

Maybe you could check with the Crown Grill before you eat there; ask them if that is possible to order an appetizer that may be more to your liking. It does not hurt to ask

  7. I'd love to see that happen. Maybe even have it accessible in the cabin also since it would be on their server anyway.

I can't begin to tell you how many times I went down to the DR just to have a look at their menu to decide on either the buffet or DR.

I am right there with you. On Emerald last month I would visit dining room around 3pm everyday just to see what was on dinner menu. Having a touch screen with menus is a win win for everyone.
