There used to be a way to search on a particular poster within a thread, which was a lot easier, but we lost that when they changed platforms. I used to like to be able to click on the list of posters within a thread and only see their posts listed. I never found a way to only look at those posts as some are trying to figure out for reviews and I don't think this platform allows it.

We chose to get the latest Covid vaccine, as well as our flu shots, prior to our October cruise. DH got them at the same time and I spaced the two out because I react to pretty much everything.😲🙄 Neither of us got sick on our cruise but many on our rollcall came back with Covid and some with the flu. I have gotten sick on too many cruises in the past, even after being vaccinated, but we figure it lessens our symptoms if we do get sick, so we will continue to vaccinate.

Do kids need to have an ID card?
reallyitsmema replied to jerick's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Passengers 16 and up need a government issued picture ID. Your 9 yr old does not need one. -
Yes, we did the mail run on our NE/Canada cruise but it was on our stop in Portland, Maine, not one of the Canadian ports. It was on the Casco Bay Ferries and was $17pp with tickets only available the day you are going. The boat goes 365 days a year and the Captain will narrate if there are more than 10 passengers. It is BYO food and drink, not a nice lunch like @aussielozzie18 had on her boat ride. I thinks hers was a wonderful trip to take with her Dad, great memories. We would definitely do it again if we were in Portland and it was a nice day as it was nice to be our on the water. It was interesting to see what the people who were going out to their island homes were bringing with them. We saw many people with collapsible grocery carts taking anything from a step ladder to multiple gallons of window washer fluid to a Tiffany style lamp to their houses. Some islands had golf carts all lined up at the docks waiting for people and others had shuttle vans. They loaded and uploaded cargo at all islands but we never stayed for more than 5 or 10 minutes. We have been to Portland a lot in the past as it is only an hour and a half drive from home, so this was something different for us to do. 🙂

RoyalUp and gty cabins
reallyitsmema replied to little britain's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We had booked a suite GTY which typically gets assigned a junior suite. We received the email to bid through Royal Up prior to being assigned a cabin. We bid on a grand suite and an owners suite. I check daily to see if I am assigned a cabin when I book a GTY and found we had been assigned a two bedroom grand suite, which is definitely an upgrade from either a GS or OS. I immediately went and cancelled our bids on GS and OS, they had not been automatically cancelled. I never got an email to bid again on that reservation and I honestly never went looking to see if I could bid as I was very happy with what we were assigned through the GTY. -

We were very surprised when we got it and loved having the two bathrooms. The cabin slept 8 and there was only two of us! No way would I do 8 in that cabin, unless I had 6 little kids. Four sleep in a very small bedroom that has two pullman in it. Two get the sleep sofa, which was actually part of a large sectional. Master bedroom was good sized with a bathroom with a tub. -

With an android, you need to get a barcode reader. On an iphone, once your setsail pass is available, you put it in your Apple wallet and below the bar code is a number and the last digits are your cabin number. If your cabin is not assigned yet, the last digits are GTY. -

That is great to know that they will cancel bids made prior to a GTY assignment. I didn't give them that chance and was able to cancel myself. Maybe I will rethink bidding in the future. -

I had a suite GTY and got the Royal Up email and bid on a GS and OS knowing I would likely get a JS for the GTY. I was assigned my cabin a few weeks prior to the cruise and received a 2 BD GS! I quickly went and cancelled both of my bids but I was nervous until we boarded that we would win something that was less than the cabin I was assigned. I won't do Royal Up on a GTY anymore. I know it is rare to get something better than the minimum but it does happen. -
We have done suite guaranty in the past and have received JS cabins but also did well once and got a two bedroom GS on Anthem. I would be careful about a guaranty on some class ships as I do not like the aft facing JS on Voyager and Freedom class ships as they are behind the large gray space at the back of the ship, so the balcony is set way back in the superstructure. I would have no issue doing guaranty on the other ships though.

Where are you seeing they have contacted a lawyer? You can believe everything you read on the internet. It would make sense for them to seek guidance from a lawyer, it doesn't mean they are trying to blame anyone. Having someone not emotionally involved guiding them is a smart move. My heart goes out to this family.

Doubtful they will bring a larger table but from recent videos online, both of those cabins have small dining tables. Could you bring one over to the other balcony and try to finagle some kind of gaming table using folding board games and a vinyl tablecloth to hold it together? Even a large piece of cardboard with a tablecloth over it might work.

Was it the transfer bench kind that is supposed to be half in the tub and half out? We have one of those at home from a multitude of orthopedic issues. You just adjust the two legs in the tub shorter and the other two are out of the tub. The shower chair we got on Anthem was just an armless stool. We were in a balcony cabin for that sailing and nothing bigger would have fit in the shower.
