  1. Thanks….where would I find a list of those specialties? ETA: Never mind, found it!
  2. Any particular reason leaving out Cyprus? I am on Ascent next year and trying to decide which MDRs to book.
  3. So, the Sun and Star have supposedly been set up from day one to have traditional dining on the lowest deck (Deck 6 I believe) of the main dining room. Can anyone currently booked on either of those ships confirm that they’re able to book traditional dining the old way, or does that too have to be through DMW, which makes no sense because why would you need to book TD every night? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of TD?
  4. I’m honored that you think I’m young enough to have living grandparents 😉
  5. Don’t let the critics get you down, we’re a tough crowd. Nevertheless, this thread has 5 people following it so obviously some people think it was worth posting.
  6. Right? And the comment about making a bad impression with posting in multiple cruise lines was bizarre to me. People are so caught up with brand loyalty they can’t handle when others might be interested in sailing different lines to find a particular port or venue. I have cruises booked on 4 different cruise lines as we speak. ETA: I’m also trying to decide between Princess, Celebrity and RC for fall of 2025. The horror! 😱
  7. “Leaving” it would suggest that the mattress is outside while passengers are inside or not in their cabin. From what I’m reading it’s only out there while someone is sleeping on it.
  8. I think also because Anthem and other Q class have the bathroom at an angle to the main part of the cabin, so there’s no skinny hallway at the entrance.
  9. I thought that too until I realized the bed was too far from the bathroom lol. Also, when the weather isn’t great it’s nice to have the couch by the balcony so you can still enjoy the view from inside throughout the day.
  10. Unfortunately from what I’ve read the sliders can’t be locked from the outside, and neither can the balcony half doors opening out onto the cabana deck.
  11. Wow what are the chances? I’ve never even witnessed a proposal in my life (except from my husband of course) and you’ve witnessed two rejections! What a bummer. You must be bad luck lol. Kidding of course, but you may want to stay out of restaurants on Valentines Day 😉
  12. I think gumshoe was looking for a little bit stronger proof than that lol
  13. I don’t remember who was asking about the forward most cabins on deck 14, but here is a photo from the outside with the second cabin (14104) highlighted. It looks like that balcony should be fine but the one in front of it is pretty crammed under the bridge, which I think might make the cabin very dark. I’d definitely choose 14103 or 14104 if I were inclined to sail in this area of the ship, since I always take lots of pictures off the balcony.
  14. Oh ok, so you booked the cabins across from each other? Looking at the deck plans it seems like a long walk from one side to the other but depending on which family members are traveling with you that might not be such a bad thing 😉
  15. Thank you. I didn’t realize the doctor diagnosed him with a phobia, which was the reason for my disagreeing with you. I wasn’t questioning the treatment, just your use of the word “phobia.” and in a prior post was suggesting that a new room was not so unreasonable to request. Like you said, we can agree to disagree on that topic. Have a nice day.
  16. I haven’t seen interior photos but pictures from outside the ship show that the balconies are quite buried under the bridge. My worry was it would make the cabins very dark and limit visibility and photos from the balcony, so I chose not to book any of them.
  17. I don’t think the average human needs a “phobia” to worry about the after effects of being covered in sewage. I used to work for the department of corrections. When a CO gets urine, feces, toilet water or unidentifiable substances thrown on them by an inmate, they’re required to take a very harsh medication they refer to informally as “the cocktail”. They’re out for weeks due to the side effects of this medication, and they’re not required to have a diagnosed “phobia” for it to be administered. If this kind of assault wouldn’t bother you, I recommend a career in corrections.
  18. These are the rooms I was referring to. All cruise lines have this policy of extra rooms. It might even be a SOLAS requirement for all we know.
  19. There are always extra cabins that are kept empty in case something like this happens. Are you suggesting that if the ceiling caved in or the cabin had no water there would be no place to move them to? Would they be given a lounge all to themselves? Of course there are spares. Just because a ship is listed as full or sold out doesn’t mean they don’t keep additional cabins unoccupied in case of an emergency. It may even be a requirement that they do so for all we know. As for “dwelling” the OP simply came here to let others know, and just because she’s answering people’s questions doesn’t mean she hasn’t moved on. And you know, there’s always scrolling by if it bothers you 🤷🏻‍♀️
  20. Yes, the OP. It was in one of the OP’s posts.
  21. They asked for a different room, even if downgrading to an inside, not to turn back time. This was not too much to ask given the circumstances.
  22. Thank you for bringing that up. I get tired of being called cheap because I like to bring on particular wines based on personal taste and preference rather than cost. A food allergy is an even better reason that people don’t think about when making their snarky assumptions.
  23. Royal saves me lots of money by sticker-shocking me right out of booking lots of things…drink packages, Coco Cay cabanas and beach club, Icon…it’s so much easier to decide whether to book things when the price is laughably high, especially when combined with a decrease in quality and services, repeated cookie-cutter itineraries and higher fares for the cruise itself. So in a bizarre, backfiring way, Royal is doing me a favor. It reminds me of when those Dyson fans first came out and cost several hundreds of dollars. I laughed out loud when I saw them at Bed, Bath and Beyond and looked at the price tag.
  24. How is it possible to not being shoes you’ve worn outdoors?
