  1. My brother and his wife are still cruising. We booked a suite to have more room for the 3 of us. We then split the cost. So, if cost is 1,000 for passenger 1&2 and 3rd is 10.00 we split 2,010. I suspect I will eat the amount I paid extra but can't be helped. My insurance does cover for him being ill and I am his primary caregiver. I do have a travel agent and will contact her first. Just wanted to know what I may incounter. This would have been my first cruise on Carnival. Thank you all I'm grateful for the suggestions!

  2. Can anyone give me a heads up what to expect when I cancel my cruise? I'm booked on Spirit September 6 to Alaska. My hubby is ill and I can't go. I have insurance through Allianz so not too concerned about that part. I am reading different posts about to cancel or just no show. Some cruisers have incurred penalties for being a no show. I am the 3rd person in the cabin so I didn't think I needed to call & cancel. Anyone know that has canceled recently?

  3. I thought I understood the flytofun program. When I booked it my understanding was you can go in and change or view your flights. I can't find them anywhere on carnival site. I went to AA site and it says cannot find flights. They were paid for June 6 along with final payment. When I printed out booking info and luggage tags there was a flight itinerary. Guess I'm confused as to how I can change a flight 60 days prior to  cruise when flight doesn't show anywhere! Anyone else encounter this?

I use Fly to Fun, since I fly from the midwest in winter.  I do not see it in planner either.  You can see your flight details in the cabin confirmation you were sent by looking at the attachment on that email.

I booked the cruise last August and have that booking. Will they send me a new booking with flights added?

  5. I'm a new Carnival cruiser. Can anyone comment on well the fly to fun works? I have used it on Princess and for the most part it worked fine. I checked the flights and they are 2-300.00 cheaper to book with fly to the fun. Also, are these flights refundable if booked flexible? Because of this covid world we live in now, have to make sure all bases are covered!

  6. I am new to medallion cruising. I downloaded the app and took care of everything including uploading passports with no problems. My brother is cruising in another cabin and not computer savvy at all. I downloaded the medallion app for him but when I click on the "get ocean ready" tab I get a message saying "could not start ocean ready".  I tried different devices, apple and android, no luck.  Is there another app we are supposed to download also? Anyone else experience this problem?

  7. I would care. One of the best perk for us, we really enjoy that relaxing start to the day and club class. I only stay in suites if I get an upsell offer but would most definitely rethink taking an upsell if they eliminate the perk. There is enough space in a mini suite for us so extra space not essential. We are elite so laundry and mini bar also not essential. I would really miss it if gone.

Great pics - thanks again!  Looks like there's plenty of closet space.  There will be 3 of us in the cabin - hope we'll have enough room.   Did your mom go out on the balcony with your help (or a cane)?   I hope she was able to enjoy the view - it's spectacular.  I know when I get back I'm going to post pics/video of the cabin for future cruisers that want to see it.  I, like you, had a very difficult time finding anything on these cabins.  I'm so glad I finally decided to post and grateful to you for taking the time to find the photo's and post them!

She did sit out a couple times but noise of the wake bothered her hearing aids. You can enjoy that view from inside the cabin too. It was beaùtiful!

Thanks so much for the pics and info mamaboss.  I really appreciate it!  May I ask which part of the room the cabin door was in?  Did you enter into the sofa half of the room or the bedroom half?  My guess is sofa half, but want to know for sure.  Glad you enjoyed the perks - that's what we're looking forward to the most!

You are very welcome! I also could not find any info on these suites before we sailed, so happy to help. You are correct, cabin door is just behind my mom's head in pic 3.  I'm posting another pic I found that shows the closets and door to bath area and a view from the balcony. Cabin door is between the couch and these closets. Glad you booked 726 instead of 727, you will love it! Enjoy your cruise!

Hello fellow cruisers.  I know this is a very specific question, but I'm going to ask anyway on the off chance someone has information.

Has anyone traveled in cabin PR726, a handicapped full suite, on the Island Princess?  This is one of the new cabins that was added to the Island after their refurbishment.  Would love to hear your opinion on this cabin as we are booked in it on the July 10th Alaska sailing.

    Thanks for any information!

Hi crazy. My brother and his wife stayed in PR726 in Feb. this year. My mom and myself stayed in PR727 which is the identical suite on opposite side of ship. I have pics below of mine, which like I said is identical to PR726. He had no complaints about the cabin. My suite was awful for noise. The bathroom pipes were constantly making loud noises and about 4 of the 10 days the sewage smell was terrible. If you are in a wheelchair you cannot access the balcony. My mom couldn't get her walker through also. Lots of motion in the back which you may be used to but we were not. That's not the cabins fault. These suites do not have the layout of other suites we stayed in but does have all the perks. If not for the noise, smell and motion I would book it again. Like I said earlier my brother was in PR726 and did not experience these issues.

I look forward to your report!  I hope that you have a great cruise!

I don't know about those balcony cabins on the Island Princess.  But when we went through the Panama Canal locks on the Dawn Princess, we could go out onto the balcony when it was going through the locks.  That was a long time ago and things may have changed since then.

Here is my report as promised, lol.  Cabin is PR727. This accessible suite was more like a mini suite. Not very accessible for a wheelchair user. Balcony doors dont open wide enough for my mom's small walker to go through so no way any wheelchair will. There was a sewage smell for awhile each day. The drains in the bathroom make loud noises. On the plus side we were able to use the balcony while going through the canal. My recommendation is not to book this cabin. Another accessible cabin on a different deck maybe, but not this one! I have to say I was not a fan of the crowds at the grill and ice cream counters. I guess I became used to the larger ships. Have a great cruise!

Have a great time on your cruise!  I would be interested in photos, but more interested in knowing the particulars about the balcony.  Please let us know whether the balcony door would open enough to allow a wheelchair to go through.  My email is kacruiser@sbcglobal.net.

Someone once posted that they had some relatives on the Island Princess in one of the accessible suites and that after complaining about the balcony opening being insufficient for the wheelchair to go through, someone from the ship did something to the opening to widen it (such as removing a stop or something).  I posted and ask them to obtain more information about this (which suite number and exactly what was done and verify a wheelchair could go through the opening) but they never posted back.  We would have booked the Island Princess if the accessible suite did have balcony access (otherwise it is just a big window), but if we can't go out on the balcony, we aren't interested.  Frankly, it is ridiculous that Princess would add a wheelchair accessible suite but neglect to put the correct type of balcony door on it (one that would accommodate a wheelchair) so that it is not fully accessible.   So I hope that the balcony doors have been corrected.

I will check out. My brother brings a teeny tape measure so I will measure it. If what I have been reading is true, you cannot use these balconies when going though the locks due to a safety issue. I will not be happy about that. Also heard that the cabin is extremely noisy,  not like like other aft balconies. I did receive quite a discount to book it so I won't complain. I'll check back after I board.

Do the balcony doors open wide enough in the accessible suite for a wheelchair.  Also, is there a ramp onto the balcony?  I ask because last year we were going to book the accessible suite on the Island and were told by the access dept that the Island Princess accessible suites won't actually accommodate a wheelchair because the balcony would not open far enough for a wheelchair to go through.  They also said there was no ramp.  The ramp could be supplied, but if the doors don't open wide enough (design or installation defect) fpr a wheelchair to go through then it wouldn't matter.  So we didn't book it.

It does say in the description of the promenade accessible suites there is not a access to the balcony for wheelchairs. I don't know about the other suites on island. Fortunately my mother can walk a few steps if she has something to hang on to. She could go out there if I put the balcony chair close to the door. If the seas are a bit rough she won't be able to use it without my help. As I said earlier, I will definitely be taking photos of the suite because you just can't find any photos anywhere on either of the promenade deck suites they added during the refit. Stay tuned! I board in 12 days, lol.🌞

Was wondering about the actual disembarkation.   When we were on Royal Caribbean in December, the concierge asked us what time we wanted to disembark.  Then we went to the lounge the last morning, and they escorted us off the ship on dedicated elevators, and then walked off past all the lines.  Same cruise line a couple years ago we were in a "Star Class" suite.  Our Genie came to our room on the final morning with a porter and escorted us and our luggage right off the ship and up to customs.  Was wondering if Princess does the same type of thing, it was an awesome perk!

Princess doesn't do anything that elaborate. As far as I know you get priority in choosing your disembark time and go to a lounge with coffee, juice and pastry. Last 3-4 cruises we were in a suite and chose the latest time. We waited in one of the dining rooms.

You had a "genie"?! Wow! I sure wish we had dedicated elevators because even leaving your cabin early it has been a madhouse!
