Our 4 year old granddaughter could do everything in Splashaway Bay. Our 2 year old granddaughter and anyone non-potty trained could only use the baby area which has a little slide. Hope that helps.

On our last two Royal cruises, our stateroom attendants left the upgraded toiletries. We were not in special staterooms and did not request them. Interesting.
I always bring my own conditioner in any case.
-
If you have chosen early or late dining (not given any other choice), can you request a table for 2?
Is the dinner buffet open the same hours for all passengers?
Thank you.

We would choose 150 CP followed by Chops. Enjoy!

Hey, I am jealous you got the correct shrimp, @Jimbo ..... now I am really wondering what happened. They ran out when I was there? Strange. I probably should have asked.

They were quite big if not the same as previously on my Oasis August 20 cruise. In addition to the shrimps, I get the crab cake and the lamb chops as the entree.
Ps. If they were any bigger, they would be the size of the lobster tail. 🤣
By the way for those that like seafood, may I recommend Seafood Linguini at Giovanni's, but with marinara.

They were perhaps slightly bigger/better than the MDR shrimp cocktail. Not like pictured above.
Hopefully a one-off. I don't know.

Chops was our favorite but we have been disappointed with their sides recently
Amen. We even wrote that on our last survey.
Also I used to love the "colossal" shrimp at Chops in the shrimp cocktail. They are no longer very big or as good based on our most recent experience.

I did not notice any height checking on Oasis in Splashaway Bay. I think the primary thing is toilet-trained vs. not. Children obviously little toddlers and not potty-trained are asked to use the other area specified for them.
For us on Coco Cay, we had a 6, 4, and 2 year old with us and just used the pirate ship and other no-charge areas that allowed them as appropriate.

Only when you are on the ship. I think it is only by clicking on the 3 dots in the upper right while in the app. I don't recall any obvious "Messages" option.

Go into airplane mode and turn on the wifi --- select your ship Free wi-fi. Open the Royal app and go to messages and invite others (they need to accept). Then you can communicate. Just keep checking the app periodically after that to see if you have messages.
-
Yes, and yes.
Please note that there are no automatic notifications that you have a message, so you need to open the app and check frequently. You will see a little red indicator in the top right of the Royal app screen if you have a message
To use the function, you have to identify (first and last name) other passengers and invite them to communicate with you. You do this in the app.

I just finished a good one. Mission Flats by William Landay. He also wrote Defending Jacob which is also good.
@Momof3gurlz Thanks for this recommendation. I actually started with his most recent book, All That Is Mine I Carry With Me. It was excellent. Now I will read some of the older ones.

Here is a picture of our door magnet hopefully you didn't walk by our door and pick up the "Vid"
Ha! Very nice magnet! We were on deck 7 forward and walked through a few decks getting here and there but never I think on deck 8. 😉

Glad @Jimbo you and your wife are feeling better. We survived the same cruise without incident.
I have only had Covid once, about 9 mos. ago. I only took the test because my daughter-in-law was pregnant. It was a mild case to the extent I was able to continue my daily run and I just stayed away from everyone until negative. I took no medication, but I have no health issues (knock, knock, knock on wood).
Best to all.
PS We have the Carnival Venezia scheduled for February as I have mentioned before. Will try to squeeze in a cruise if we can before then.
Best to all.

It's not like Royal was going to announce it but there was lots of people hacking and coughing in the shows and Windjammer, there was about 30 people in the conference room that went down to medical.
I'm sure there were lots more that had covid but never went down to medical that were positive.
For us it was just the one night quarantined, many others were for 5 days and were confirmed right after the last Greenland stop, they never touched the ground at St.Johns,Newfoundland
For whatever reason, we only heard normal coughing here and there, but I don't doubt your experience and hope you feel better soon!

The entire departure for Jewel was long at Bayonne today. Everyone had to show their passports (vs. facial recognition), however they also pointed cameras at everyone's faces. Not sure why this was going on vs. normal quick facial recognition process.
@Jimbo hope you guys feel better soon. I did not hear one word of Covid on ship until I saw your report on Cruise Critic.

We don't find her stiff. Professional perhaps, but she is visible, friendly, and a lot better than some other CDs we have experienced.

Hi, a few photos from our day in St. John's, New Foundland.
We took the Coastal Hike excursion. They take you to the top of Signal Hill and then you walk down. We really enjoyed it, but not for the faint of heart or those not steady on their feet.
Then went to Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Beautiful.
Then to fish and chips place (excellent) recommended by excursion guide... and then some shopping and back to ship.
See you next time. Canada.

Thank you. We have a Greenland\Canada cruise next year so I am trying to get as much information on the ports as possible.
We have only done Nuuk so far. It is a bit "rough" looking in places with ugly (for lack of a better word) warehouse-apartment buildings etc., but it has pretty spots and clearly the coastal and snow-covered mountainous areas are very pretty.
They could do quite a bit to improve tourism if they wanted to...

Beautiful pictures. Did you do an excursion?
Thanks. We originally had a hiking excursion, however it was canceled. So we did without an excursion and did a lot of walking and exploring. It worked out fine.

We have been to Bermuda a bunch of times on both Royal and NCL. Love it. In fact, we are going to try a MSC cruise to Bermuda in the near future.
Enjoy!!
