  1. My first job at age 17 as a secretary was at ICL (International computers ltd). The computer room the operators worked in was massive, with floor to ceiling computers whirring away.
  2. We had them installed earlier this year. We've got an app that tells us how much power is going from the solar panels to the battery and how much is used by the house from the battery or from the grid. And yes, Gary nags me to use the washer/dryer and dishwasher washer during the day when the solar panels are working.
  3. @grapau27Graham, I believe you cruise P&O sometimes. Spotted this today. Seems an amazing price, though not sure what the weather will be like Nov/Dec or crossing Bay of Biscay
  4. Sorry to hear about Joebob, a beautiful cat 🐈 Hope the root canal went well, some days you are glad to get to the end off ....
  5. When he first booked the world cruise he said he was going to do a blog. He's got a great way with words with his trip reports and I was really looking forward to hearing about all the unusually ports.
  6. Yesterday was our normal weekly grandson childcare day. Started off with music class, which our other grandson and his mum goes to too. Great fun. Absolutely pouring with rain so our normal park visit didn't happen. Later in the afternoon we had a walk in the woods 'going on a bear hunt'. Lots of mud and puddles to splash through Lovely day
  7. I don't think there are any Lands End stores in UK but I buy on line quite a few things. Love their 'no tug' swimsuits and matching cover ups
  8. I'm so so sorry to hear about your hairdressers employee. You're right, when it's personal it hits so much harder πŸ˜ͺ
  9. Hopefully with relatively few sea days (only 2 on our 16 day sector) most people will be ashore most days, but agree a dedicated card room is an excellent idea
  10. We have Remembrance Day tomorrow, 2 minutes silence at 11am on the 11 Nov. Originally to commemorate when the guns fell silent after WW1 but then expanded to honour all the dead and wounded from subsequent wars and battles. On Sunday there are Remembrance services in all the churches and a national service at the Cenotaph in London. Gary sells poppies each year for the Royal British Legion, one of our main military charities
  11. We're having a really wet autumn over here. Rain most days with the odd sunny spell. Walking in Henley-on-Thames a couple of days ago the Thames is very high and fast, almost bursting its banks
  12. I remember the same thing happened about six months ago. Offered extremely cheap specialist dinning but you couldn't complete the purchase
  13. I've just checked and the email listed I don't use anymore or have access too. Tried to change it and response was 'not possible ' ☹️
  14. I was thinking of you yesterday. The news said that there were rockets coming over into Central Israel and I wondered if you had to go to the shelter . So unimaginable awful. My heart crys out for you all living through this.
  15. Great pics as always Aussie. πŸ‘Œ I had to look up sapphire coast as I didn't know where it was. I missed the bit where you said you were on a cruise. Looks lovely. What line and route are you doing? Edited to say : Oops your next post gives all the info
  16. OP was talking about booking specific times each day on MTD Once the cruise is booked go to your RC cruise planner (through computer Web page, not RC app). Once you see your booking click on 'plan my cruise' and you can book specific times under Dinning Heading. First it shows all the fee for specialised dinning and at the bottom you can book MTD slots. The closer to your cruise the more stuff you can book, like shore excursions, drink packages and shows (Oasis class only, not necessary on other class's)
  17. It was surprisingly quite last night, being a Saturday most municipal celebrations were held last night. Maybe it'll be busier (noiser) tonight. Poor molly isn’t keen on the bangs Finally enjoying sunny but cold weather after all the rain we've had recently.
  18. Our local pharmacy's is a small independent one. He is great and knows Gary personally as he goes there a lot for his various drugs. He is always very busy. We had our flu jab there this year, I had popped in for something and he asked if I had had it and did it there and then. Thinking of you today. I hope your knee op goes well and heals quickly and as pain-free as possible
