Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. If you are diamond or in a suite and take your luggage off, yes, it is. If you are in one of the other priority groups and take your luggage off, I would say 8:30 could be doable. if you are not in one of the priority groups and do not take your luggage off with you then weezal is 100% correct.
  2. I have parked in the South Lot before at terminal 10. And I know about Pier 14 indoor lot. But I was asking about Pier 12 lot. It's a new addition to the map and it was priced the same as the South Lot when I did a mock booking. Just wondering if anybody has used it or even looked at it. It looks closer than the South Lot but I don't know about fencing or where the gates are.
  3. Was looking at parking for a distant cruise on RCL and I saw a Pier 12 listed. This is new since the last time I sailed RCL. Does anybody have any info about it? It's priced the same as the South lot.
  4. was on the alure last year in 8100. Large space in front of window and it was floor to ceiling. because of the slant it wasn't an area where you could sit but if you wanted to store luggage there it was ok. Sometimes it got a little hot with the curtains open. It was a longer walk to get anywhere but not too bad.
  5. Always check for construction using TXDOT website. For Saturday morning, if Google says 50 minutes, I would give it an hour just for some padding. Don't forget time to park and get to door of the terminal. Also, at 10:30 there will be a line outside, by 10:45 that outside line will be shorter. Once you get inside to the waiting area you will boarding by Group number, so being first in the door is not that big of a deal.
  6. I booked a cruise once without knowing who was going with me. So I just put TBA in the 2nd guest name. Turned out my wife or any of my other friends could go with me so I went solo. When doing the check-in I had to make up some data for Mr. TBA to complete the check-in. Had no problems boarding and they even had a room card for Mr. TBA.
  7. Yes. that is correct. I've done it both ways, they both work fine, but find doing the solo easier overall. if you think you might add someone later then do the TBD.
  8. Cash is King! A couple of bucks to your waiter and they will take care of you. try to target one or two. I have actually been walking out of the casino, asked my favorite waiter for a glass of wine while there were at the bar, and they fixed me up while standing there. Exter cash for that.
  9. A lot of opinions on canceling or not. If you don't cancel and just let him be a no show, you will have to check him in when you do yours. The cruise manager will not let you complete yours without his. A while back I did a casino rate where I set the 2nd guest as TBA. Ended up going solo. I had to make up some info for the TBA guest in order for me to compete my check in to get the boarding pass. As for casino rate codes I have also just booked a solo. I was charged dbl deposit of $200, which I got back as room credit. Regular rate codes could be different, but this has been my experience with casino rate codes.
  10. My DW is simi retired TA so I did some looking. You can't book transport only yourself under manage my cruise, only the tour of the space center then airport. You must either call your TA or look at the very bottom of the main page for transportation to find a number to call to book it yourself.
  11. Your LUCK with changing your dinning time will depend a lot on your C&A level. I am diamond and did a Solo cruise a while back where I had Early dinning on my booking but when I got on board it had change to MTD. Went to the Maitre d' right after boarding told him that I wanted either a single table or one with some other solos. He found me a nice table by myself on the upper floor right by rail. They are used to changes and will help you as much as they can. Helps to be very nice.
  12. Just a guess but maybe they need to shift the porters to getting the luggage loaded on the ship in time. On one of my cruises, I had an outside room, and they were loading bags just below my room right up to the time we left. Just check arrival times ( my wife has a cruise coming up) and In Galveston the last slot is 1:30- 2:00
  13. I print extras and put one inside of the suitcase as a just in case
  14. Just as a reference here is a blow up of the ports parking map. I would say you would be pushing your 1/2 mile limit. Plus I believe it would be up a slight incline going from T25 to T28 and dragging your suitcases. but here is what I found on the web site. It may cost $10 but I sure they will work something out for you. Maybe park in the regular parking lot and ride the shuttle. Refunds/Cancellations/Modifications You may cancel, or modify parking reservations up to 24 hours prior to ship sailing. A $10 Cancellation Fee applies to all cancellations. No refunds are issued within 24Hrs of the cruise. You may any questions to parking@portofgalveston.com. All cancellation will be processed via reservations website at www.portofgalveston.com
  15. The website is not the easiest to find things. here are the details Parking near Galveston Cruise Port | Port of Galveston, TX - Official Website
