  1. Wow, thank you all for such amazing replies! We are dying to try Viking Ocean, but we only have time for a 7-10 day cruise, max. Viking seems to be sold out of short itineraries so we'll save that for another time. Paul Gauguin is definitely on my bucket list - maybe when we retire! For this cruise (our 25th anniversary and my 50th birthday), we are traveling with another couple and were originally booked on Ritz Carlton yacht Evrima, which has now cancelled all their cruises through May (I'm not even convinced that yacht has been built yet!) I was thinking about a suite on Celebrity, or for the same price, a suite on Crystal. Since our friends do not enjoy big mainstream cruises, it looks like we'll take the plunge with Crystal...most likely on Symphony. We aren't looking for crazy nightlife so much as we are good food, drinks, and fun lounge-y spaces to relax.
  2. For a special occasion, we are looking to experience a more luxury cruise line. We love Celebrity and we are looking for a lot of what they have - great service, elegant design, awesome food. But we want a smaller, more luxurious experience. Anyone out there step up from Celebrity, and if so, what would you recommend?
  3. I'd say - great food, great service, no kids, no crowds. We are in our late 40's and looking for a luxurious and relaxing atmosphere!
  4. Our Ritz-Carlton cruise has been cancelled - so now we're looking for a replacement. We want to sail this winter, 7-10 days in the Caribbean. I have no idea where to start or what differentiates one luxury line from another. Any thoughts?
  5. So...do we expect this will actually sail in the next 3 months?
  6. We are booked for February 2022 and I'm starting to worry about this, too...
  7. I'm looking at a suite for this sailing as well. If you're in a suite, is getting a chair in the Retreat pool area the same mess as the main pool deck, with people saving seats and abandoning them? Or are chairs readily available?
  8. We will be on Evrima February 2022. Anxiously awaiting more info!
  9. I know they're new and not launched yet...but any word on them? We are booking for February 2022...anyone out there? Will they get their own CC board?
  10. You won't find a free hotel shuttle to the cruise port, but an Uber will be easy and cheap. I'd suggest Courtyard by Marriott Downtown/Inner Harbor. It's in a nice area, very walkable, with nice shops and lots of food options. The Pendry is delightful for a splurge!
  11. Here are my suggestions of Celebrity must-dos: homemade ice cream in Oceanview Cafe adults only solarium is fabulous and quiet live music in ensemble lounge (shows are only meh but the live music is great!) eat in Murano and Tuscan Grille, the service is great go early for a seat at the martini bar enjoy drinks up on the lawn don't miss Mast Grill for great burgers by the pool room service tea and cookies on your balcony non-smoking casino, yes please! Have a great time!
  12. Oh trust me, we have 2 cabins. 4 people in a cruise cabin is NOT a vacation! Is there much of a wait at peak times?
  13. Taking the fam of 4 (two adults, kids 17 and 19) on Equinox this summer. Last time we were on Celebrity we really disliked our MDR experience (long waits, even with reservations and tables ridiculously close together, then spotty service). And that was during low season. Aqua class cabins are slightly more expensive, but in my mind, worth it if we have a good dining experience in Blu. Do they do early/late dining in Blu? Do we make reservations beforehand? Open for breakfast and dinner? Is my assumption that it will be much better incorrect? Any flaws in my strategy here?
  14. Bummer! Loved that Qsine menu. At first glance, the animation dining seems so gimmicky and Disney to me - but maybe i need to research more. Glad to hear Select dining has improved!
  15. Thanks - that is good to know and helps me feel a bit better! That was the one big bummer from our 2014 cruise, which was also Silhouette. The select dining was a MESS!
  16. We haven't been on Celebrity since 2014 (Silhouette). Do they still have homemade hard-scoop ice cream in the buffets? Has the menu changed in Qsine now that they've added the cartoon/virtual dinner element to it? Now that Michael's Club is suites only - are there other lounges more crowded? And...have they improved Select Dining? When we went in 2014 it was a circus and even with reservations, we had to wait every night.
  17. Yes, we are looking at booking 2 cabins. Thanks for the input. Can anyone speak to how well Select Dining runs these days on Equinox?
  18. Looking to book Equinox going to the caribbean in June for our family of four (kids 19 and 17). We've done Oasis class with RCCL, looking for some more laid back relaxation this time around. Husband and I cruised on Silhouette 6 years ago and really enjoyed it. Of importance to us: good service, great dining experience, relaxation. That being said, here are my questions for anyone inclined to jump in! 1) Should we book Aqua class to eat in Blu? Select dining was such a nightmare back on the Silhouette- handed a pager every night (even when we had a reservation) and the tables were SO close together. I would much rather walk in and be seated and not have to wait, then feel jammed in. (We will likely book 3 nights in specialty dining too.) But, if select dining has improved then we are fine with the MDR. 2) Now that Michael's Club is gone (bummer, it was our favorite beer spot), are there other good lounges? 3) What spa perks does Aqua class come with? 4) Anything else we shouldn't miss? Thanks in advance!
  19. These comments are so helpful! A few more questions as i'm about to book... What is Medallion service and do we need it? Does the Sanctuary give you guaranteed loungers, or is it still a fight for chairs? If we do the regular pool deck or adult pool area, is it a fight to get space? We are looking at either 2 mini suites, or 2 premium deluxe balconies...can't seem to see a difference...???
  20. Looking at a 4-night (Monday thru Friday) in mid-January. We are hoping for good food, good service, and relaxation. I know Navigator has been updated, but does the short itinerary make it a party ship? Any advice welcome - we were supposed to be on Symphony for a 7-day but the days don't line up. 😞 Thanks!
  21. OP back again. Went to book Symphony today and looked at my daughter's school schedule and realized all along I was looking at THE WRONG WEEK. UGH - all that research down the toilet. So we move our week up one - and sure enough, Symphony appears to have 0 oceanview balconies left. Sigh. Suites are out of budget (we need two rooms - I refuse to share with our teens) and I really don't want a central park or boardwalk balcony - or an oceanview without a balcony. Harmony sails that week but geez, it's overpriced (shouldn't the 2nd week of January be more of a bargain than the 3rd week???)... So that leaves me looking at a 4 day on Navigator. It's refreshed, right? I always picture 4 day cruises as boozy cruises filled with loud people. The one i'm looking at is Mon-Fri, not over the weekend. @John&LaLa and @Host Clarea...any advice on Navigator?
  22. Okay - that is too funny! We're getting 2 cabins - one for our kids - so we'll take whichever has the bed by the bathroom! LOL
  23. I'm looking at 7594 and 7596. Assuming if we use the stairs/elevator forward of the rooms, we won't have any problems? And thank you @Host Clarea...so helpful, as always!
  24. LOL. Until Andrew & Lisa adopt me, I for sure won't be on 17. No wonder all the hump cabins that are open on Symphony are deck 7. I'm a sucker for the bigger balcony. My travel agent keeps trying to book me on 14...no thanks buddy! 😉
