  1. Cruise Ship Schedule Calendar Combined Ports (claalaska.com) fyi you can see all your docks and times if you search schedule.
  2. For Sept cruise look into Ketchikan Herring Cove tour so you can see black bears eating salmon. The Skagway train will be about the same price either cruise line or on your own but cruise line to train will be closer walk. Juneau whale watch. Victoria with late arrival just walk to downtown in the dark or don't bother. Sept helo likely not flying in Sept a few other tours will end in Aug. Tracy arm long boat ride 90 min each way to get there.
  3. Look into Juneau city gardens near shrine. Small parking lot but nice gardens and beach walk. If it rains rental car will come in very handy. Roads will still be fine. Make sure your rain gear is up to the task. Very few roads so hard to get lost. Search youtubes for videos of sites. Newest possible and not the ad ones. My fav webcam: TheSnowCloud Juneau area Webcams
  4. Here is my favorite Juneau and ISP web cam that will show you what tram is like. TheSnowCloud Juneau area Webcams Look up the Whale Project, AK museum and the fish hatchery. I would think that in Sept it would have tons of salmon along with many eagles. Keep eyes open for black bears in Sept towards salmon streams. Depending on your pier whale project and museum are within walking distance. Cab to hatchery.
  5. T/B is less than 10 min bus ride from Ward Cove. Check bus schedule but I think once per hour.
  6. fyi, In our family you are only allowed to point out the first 10-15 eagles. After that it gets to boring unless multiple eagles are in the same tree.
  7. Check youtube for several personal (not the ad ones) videos of the tour. If you do decide to go make sure that you know how to use the sports settings on the cameras. Practice on birds of your area. Just checked the price and it is $229 p/p. Glad we saw it several years ago when under $100.
  8. It is my understanding that the crab boat tour is in First Nation Tribal waters when they feed the eagles. Other feedings likely illegal but very few if any enforcement. Even having eagle feathers likely to get you in hot water. Saw feathers at Eagle beach in Juneau but just took a photo.
  9. Looking at Disney's port times looks to me that you have time to do more than one in ISP. Maybe bears and kayak. Herring Cove in Ketch for bears. Juneau helo to glacier, or whales. Mendenhall has receded over the years and soon will not be visible from visitor center. Without helo or canoe very far from glacier. Check youtube for tours. Look for the newest individual ones not the ad ones. Just about every tour you can find will be on there.
  10. For our Jun 24 trip the Museum of the Aleutians which is normally closed are open and running some bus tours for the cruise ship separate from the cruise company. Call or email and ask for Thomas. I think we filled up two 12 passenger busses for tours at two different times. Two hours 15 min tours. $115.
  11. She would not be booked up in 2025 but I bet you won't be the first to reserve. Currently she has 3 boats that take 6 person per trip. 4 hour including .5 hour to get there and back.
  12. for whales in Juneau search Jayleen but likely full already. Search youtube for all the tours. I TOOK MY MOM DOG SLEDDING IN SKAGWAY ALASKA! | PLAYING WITH HUSKY PUPPIES (youtube.com) The train also has one ride up and dogs visit during the bus down. I haven't been so cant recommend it.
  13. Do a search of the Whale Project and AK museum. Both close to the Douglas Island Bridge. People have raved about the Hanger restaurant (very close to the seaplane dock) on the way. Nice webcam views here. TheSnowCloud Juneau area Webcams
  14. When looking at Portage Glacier don't forget to look into Byron Glacier family 1.5 hike. Very close to where the Portage Glacier leaves from.
  15. Go with the cheapest that includes GB, and HG. Forget about Denali in 2024 and likely 25 as the road closer makes it to much trouble for what is worth and 2/3 of the people don't see it because of weather. You need at least 3 days there. Then spend your money on excursions like helo glacier landings, whale watching and whatever you are interested in. Check youtube for cruise videos of your top choices in terms of ships and excursions. Look for newest and not the ad ones.
  16. Cab back to the ship from airport is the most troubling part.
  17. If you get on with no extra charges I would spend some more time in the casino than usual as you will be on lucky streak already.
  18. Are you still on the 28 day and if so seen the roll call?
  19. If going in Sept-Oct look into Herring Cove to see the bears. Much earlier won't have salmon and likely no bears.
  20. Valdez has bus Keystone bus tour. It looked good but we booked Stephen's glacier boat ride. I haven't been so I can't recommend. Search google and youtube. Kodiak rental cars that I found are now at the airport which is a hassle. Not the best but what we reserved.
  21. Check youtube to see what the tours look like. Have not done #1 but did coatal to glacier land and it was very good. #4 is a long flight but may get to see Denali. If time is available do Matanuska north of ANC or Byron near Portage Visitor center. Not flights but good. #3 youtube here: BEST WAY TO SEE ALASKA: Seward helicopter tour! (Episode 12) (youtube.com). Seward with a car?
  22. On a 3-4 hour tour about 1 hr is getting to and from boat. I don't ever remember seeing walk up tours at Auke bay and unless to book the whole boat you would have to know when boat leaves. If you arrange ahead and know what time boat leaves you likely can set something up. But not likely to get much of a price drop and you have to factor time to get back to ship when turning in car.
  23. On the way to Treadwell mine there is a waterfront park that gives great views of the downtown area with the ships docked and mountains behind. There is a possibility of seeing black bears in Juneau but it is mostly luck, time of visit and salmon running or not. When they come out from winter they head to beach or grass fields to get their digestive systems started. (April May) then later Aug-Sept in the streams for the salmon. Only place where I have seen them was on the way into Mendenhall in the grass fields. fyi my fav Juneau & ISP web cam. TheSnowCloud Juneau area Webcams.
