  1. Lots of hits if you put “Roatan” in the search engine for the. “Disabled cruise travel” forum. here is one
  2. Not sure what Chiapas has to do with Cozumel or why you would find these articles associated with things to do on Cozumel. Were you looking for mainland excursions? Whilst there has been increased level of crime in Cozumel since COVID I am not sure how the above links are particularly relevant.
  3. Thanks, I had them confused I thought the problems were in Tulum Pueblo but makes sense. we have only been to Puerto Morelos and it has had its own problems. Sad really when you innocently get caught in the crossfire. Do you still own in the area? I think I read you were thinking of selling up?
  4. Thanks, If other excursions are still available this is the most likely answer. That was what I was trying to determine and why I asked. I am not familiar with Tulum area and just read “ a beach club”. I know some excursions do have time at a beach.
  5. Did you make it to Costa Maya or were you on one of the many sailings recently unable to port?
  6. Before the major hurricane many people walked the coastal route directly from the port. After the port was rebuilt the access was blocked. It has been a while but I have heard some people try to walk back that way. They get quite a way but cannot get into the port and requires a serious detour. I highly doubt I would ever rent a golf cart but if I did the Casitas seems like one of the few areas to explore out of curiosity. Incidentally I see the “55” neighborhood, mentioned in one of my links, marked on the above golf cart map. A golf cart might be useful exercise if you were scouting for property. There seem to be a few new locations on the unmade highway out of town going south but unfortunately they seem to come and go over the years and the golf cart rentals don’t seem to allow you to go very far anymore.
  7. We have only been once and we were quite happy with pergola, right in front of the snorkeling/ diving area and would be quite happy to return. My husband was there most of the day. I was watching family at dolphin swim and at the pool.
  8. If you are interested in diving and cabanas it would be best to email the park to check prices because some add ones include entrance or requires an extra discounted fee. If you email you will avoid paying entrance twice and will determine what facilities you have access to. I guess it depends how long your port hours are and how much time you would have at the Cabana as to whether it is worthwhile.
  9. Good to know they now have transport from the front entrance as there were a lot of complaints about the walk after they closed the back entrance. The website states individual access fee for any one over 3 years. It would appear that the discounted entrance fee actually comes with reduced access within the park if that is important - swimming pool access, not sure what else.
  10. I think it probably has more to do with recent American tourist who was killed near Tulum, which was why I asked if all mainland excursions were cancelled. Look forward to a report on the Westin.
  11. Thanks Crew I thought I had read it was the urban area outside the port but I just took a look and couldn’t find it actually called that any more on the map. I knew you had always called it Las Casitas and that might be more accurate for the area I was meaning. I am not sure if you can actually get to the coast or not that way or if you have to go all the way to the lighthouse and turn left instead of right along the malecon? However I did find a couple of interesting articles which indicate there are plans for future development “eventually”. https://nuvistarealestate.com/property/nuevo-mahahual-waterpark-frontage/ https://www.earthvagabonds.com/the-neighborhoods-of-mahahual-mexico-a-beautiful-beach-community/
  12. Never heard of it - I will defer to Graham @grapau27 and his close liaison with Wiki to see what he has to say! Perhaps regional. I have only heard of hiding shoes in the chimney but not sure that that relates…..
  13. Not any more. You will have to go with a local service as discussed on this board, usually Uber if you can get it. Who did you eventually book with from the airport?
  14. Are you wanting something cultural?active? food? drink? Beach? is it Spring Break or Easter? what age range? Have they canceled all mainland excursions?
  15. Many people do two TA’s in one year. Usually one outward and one return. Often those people live 6 months here, 6 months there! It is like an onboard social club! It eliminates air fare if they are staying. Others buy a RT air fare to cover the One-way fares in between if they are returning to their home country. Both legs are not necessarily with the same cruise line. The unusual current situation is the Adventure of the seas EB in October 2024 for dry dock and lots of people are doing that sailing and then taking various sailings back on the usual fall WB’s. A few even do two trips in one direction, which always surprises me.
  16. Yes it does but the OP was looking for somewhere quieter away from the WJ. I am not sure they were even intending to have drinks.
  17. IF you can get the taxi to go down Calle Atún as far as the malecon, then Malecon21 will be right there. We find they generally drop you on the main, through road (Calle Sardina) and then it is behind their associated hotel, Noah. I would check price with dispatcher and driver before leaving. Take a photo of the taxi # (in case you leave something, but also as a deterrent) and pay the driver. I have never paid the dispatcher. Small denomination, untorn bills since they won’t have change. It is not customary to tip taxis in Mexico but is expected in areas that cater to US tourists. If they overcharge then we don’t tip. Unfortunately the taxis, and Costa Maya in general, have become very greedy and we have been very disappointed in the port since cruising resumed. Hope you enjoy your day. If you go to Malecon21, I look forward to your updated report to let us know how things are going now.
  18. I can’t comment on Hayhu since I haven’t made it yet. I am not sure what provisions they have for a group that large. I see you were looking at Maya Chan so timewise distance isn’t much different. It is slightly further away but they take a different route. Biggest factor to consider looking after 70+ year olds and toddlers will be distance to walk along the pier, through the port and out of the port to transport. There is a defined charge for taxis of $4pp each way to the malecon. It may be different if it is a large taxi cab but as far as I know, Costa Maya still doesn’t have a board with posted charges so best to confirm with taxi dispatcher before you leave. Malecon21 is at the southern end of the malecon. All taxis stop on the road one block inland since Malecon is pedestrian-only. Ask to be dropped at nearest road, probably Calle Atún and when you get out you have to walk one block towards the ocean. Beware of vendors trying to misdirect you to their location. Take a copy of Google maps or map from their website and check for the Malecon21 sign when you arrive. Malecon21 is not large (like most clubs in Costa Maya) and I think you would need to pre-book to see if they have room for that many people. Krazy Lobster is the only large beach club. I am not sure if they do reservations to get that size group together.
  19. 20 people is a large group for any of the Costa Maya beach clubs at such short notice during Spring Break. I think Maya Chan has an area where they generally put bigger groups and it must already be taken.
  20. Thanks I thought it must be. I didn’t remember it looking like that.
  21. white on yellow is not the best color. To be honest I am not sure I saw umbrellas. Someone else would have to confirm. We haven’t stayed that long and have just used tables, chairs and palapa. I like shade.
  22. Did you try their website? http://thekrazylobster.com/USservices.html As stated these services are free. Menu also posted on website, again in pesos. Be careful some beers are large and small eg coronitas.
