  1. I agree if I was paying the price of a cabana on a cruise ship day that would be my main focus. However some groups with kids may like the use of a pool. The time is limited enough on a ship day which is unfortunate because there are lot of things to see and do at Chankanaab. It is unfortunate in some ways that it is attached to the park and you have to pay admission in addition. It would be nice if it was a stand alone entity.
  2. It worked just fine pre-shut down. I don’t know why they haven’t resolved this by now if it is still a problem. They KNOW what worked before. We only witnessed it on our first sailing back and took evasive action as I have no intention of standing in line for a prolonged length of time when I have a reservation. Waiting 5-10 minutes, no problem; waiting 30+ minutes, no way. Subsequent sailings were fine for us but I think it depends largely on size of group and, those needing to eat the minute they open or earlier, if they can.
  3. It was reported earlier that already happened with two sittings on occasions.
  4. This was the reply I had some time ago from Chankanaab. As I understood it only those with *, included the pool otherwise I think there may be an additional fee. It has always been a grey area with some people using it no problem and others not. You would need to verify directly with Cabana Beach what is and is not included and perhaps post the answer. I know people have been questioned trying to use the pool in the past that have paid for entrance with scuba/scuba which also has discounted entrance included. I am not sure if you get different colored wrist bands that are indicative of your package. Thanks for your e-mail. You can get information about our Parks and purchase Entrance tickets at www.cozumelparks.com The tickets are valid for one year from the service date, and are transferable, but not refundable. 5. It might go some way to helping some people, although I see it being a very popular option (especially if 6.45) and oversubscribed. However it doesn’t address the fundamental attraction of MTD which is flexibility.
  6. I understood your time frame but is the intention to have three separate sittings or will the start times overlap on different floors? If separate, consecutive sittings a start of 7.45 will make first or last sitting very early or late depending on whether that is the second or final sitting.
  7. Are you seriously concerned about a discrepancy of 15+ minutes? They have to allow for different size groups. People choosing multiple courses. Groups not arriving together or on time. I am sure if there are two of you eating 3 courses and you say you are in a hurry, they will try and comply with your timeframe. Personally, I am eating dinner not competing in a race.
  8. +1 I thought you could only remove gratuities added on board not if they were pre-paid. https://thepointsguy.com/guide/remove-prepaid-cruise-gratuities/
  9. Here is the direct booking https://www.*****costa-maya/ (Dolphin Discovery website) However it doesn’t seem to be bookable currently. You would need to email and ask if you can book online or in port independently. I have no idea how much it is through the ship and it probably varies depending if it is on sale.
  10. Thanks, that’s certainly higher.

    Captain Jack’s

We enjoy CJ’s and had an entertaining few hours watching port and pier construction pre- shut down. We haven’t been since cruising resumed so I don’t know how the view is these days.
  12. Gumbalimba is on Roatan. What type of excursion are you actually interested in doing?
  13. I realize you did not have mobility issues but it is an important factor for some people that they need to know. It has been a subject of concern in several reviews since it was changed. Seems like there is plenty of vacancies on most days over the next few months so it shouldn’t be a problem for your friends. I still feel it is better value per person for a larger group, $60 pp just for a cabana is a high price on Cozumel when there are only two people but you are correct they haven’t reached their original prices pre-Covid, but then they used to include more so they have changed their model. Although entrance to Chankanaab is included in pre-payment, (extra to the cabana rate) it is a discounted rate and does not allow access to the pool and maybe other amenities which may also be important to some that don’t want to snorkel. Do you recall what the taxi fare was? I understand the fares have increased recently although I am not sure that it is an official increase. The official site seems to be down so perhaps it is in the works.
  14. Just to add, it is quite safe in town too but you will find an increased number of vendors trying to get you into their shops on Melgar. The advantage is more shops and lots more places to eat for all tastes and budgets. Quieter if you go inland a block or two but of course you lose the view.
  15. Assuming you are docking at Puerta Maya quite safe to walk outside following normal precautions and your comfort levels with vendors. Some smaller older ships actually dock at Langosta, in town. Flea market across the road and slightly more up-market center opposite International pier ( towards town). There are some food places opposite the pier but I have never docked there and am not familiar with what. Google maps will provide insight and virtual walk on street view. More bars and restaurants towards town past International pier depending on how mobile you are. We Have safely walked all the way to town more than once. Taxis are easy and abundant to get inside and outside port but check board for prices of where you are going and confirm with driver before you leave.
  16. Good to hear a recent update and that you enjoyed your day. Prices have certainly been steadily rising again since lockdown but probably better value for a bigger group for a group. I understood they were taking you by golf cart now from the main entrance. Did they not offer that to you? Some people may need to know if it is on request as it is a long walk for those with mobility issues since they stopped dropping off at back entrance.
  17. Glad it worked out after all your planning. I think it was probably indicated to you when you wanted to use dropping off medicines early to your cabin as a reason for accessing your cabin early that there was a distinct possibility that it wouldn’t be there until later. This is fairly typical. Hope you had a good time overall.
  18. You won’t be able to book Maya Chan through the ship and advanced reservation would be recommended.
  19. I have been reading this board for almost 20 years and reviews about Nachi for almost as long. Over the years reviews have been up and down (as expected) with complaints ranging from dirty car park area and approach, weak drinks, too soft sand, shelving beach line, rowdy children (and sometimes adults) not controlled in the pool, hot tubs always cold. I can remember when it was PAYG (with maybe small entrance fee? - I never went) and complaints about going AI and later each time price increased. Then capacity was increased and extra palapas and beach bar added. At one time you definitely couldn’t get in without a pre-reservation in fact you were lucky to get a taxi to even take you. Despite all the complaints, highs and lows, ups and downs in popularity over the years, Nachi is one beach club that always seems to retain its’ club of die-hard cheer leaders who return time and time again, unlike any other club I read about on Cozumel. As stated above we have only been a handful of times over the years. Not often enough to determine any particular trends. We have never found the service to be exemplary, or the food and drink to be better than lots of others places we frequent on Cozumel. I am not sure why it has maintained such a fan club for so long but it is a useful place to keep on the rota for a day when you want something quieter. If you were diasappointed pre-Covid I am not sure how you would rate it now. Our most recent visit was prior to the restart of cruising when they were offering discount rates- so yes, it was good value, food and drinks were fine and it was at half capacity. Family members went just before Christmas and said it was OK - that was their first visit.
  20. It was actually “warring”! But certainly a strange post - I don’t even know how Quintana Roo got into an article about Chiapas, never mind Cozumel.
  21. Lots of hits if you put “Roatan” in the search engine for the. “Disabled cruise travel” forum. here is one
  22. Not sure what Chiapas has to do with Cozumel or why you would find these articles associated with things to do on Cozumel. Were you looking for mainland excursions? Whilst there has been increased level of crime in Cozumel since COVID I am not sure how the above links are particularly relevant.
  23. Thanks, I had them confused I thought the problems were in Tulum Pueblo but makes sense. we have only been to Puerto Morelos and it has had its own problems. Sad really when you innocently get caught in the crossfire. Do you still own in the area? I think I read you were thinking of selling up?
