  1. One used to be able to buy Carnival Cruise Gift cards at grocery stores and I remember buying them years ago at Kroger/Fred Meyers when they were having a 4x points promotion. The 4x points promotion is on this week, however, there were no Carnival gift cards listed- only Princess- at the store or online. They used to have Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Maybe I've been out of the loop, but anyone else notice ?
  2. Thanks for the explanation- I was interested in the itinerary because I haven’t been to Sitka and I’d hate to have them skip it. I live in Seattle so it’s an easy trip to port.
  3. Let me know if the Sun is okay- I was just about to book a 10-day in May going to Alaska. thanks lyannea
  4. Thanks again, When I was buying Cruise Next coupons way before Covid years, the only restriction that I was aware of is that they could be doubled for any booking 7+day and a balcomy or higher. and I used quite a few before covid.
  5. So I tried to book 2 7-day Balcony cabins and haven't had any problems using 2 cruise-next coupons, until today. Did something change during the Covid years ?- it's my first cruise back. The first cruise 5/10-5/17 , the gal said that she could use two Cruise Next. The second cruise 5/17-5/24, the gal said that the system wouldn't allow her to and that I'd have to use a 50% off coupon, making the cruise $100 more than if I had used 2 Cruise-Next coupons. So I cancelled, till I can understand it more. Anyone have a clue ? Tanks! Lyannea
  6. Know that there may be times that are difficult for you or your dad during the cruise. Unexpectedly, it was taking that first step on the cruise ship that brought me to tears, for example. Talk about it ahead of time and maybe find a signal, such as squeezing your dad’s hand or the like, to acknowledge how much you both miss your Mom during those times.
  7. She was 5'1" tall. Family reports that 20 hours went by before being listed as "missing" If you google her name, more than one article, other than the Daily UK shows up 🙄 though a few articles list her as "plunging" to her death- weird way of reporting. 8. Can someone point me to any thread on Cruise Critic where clothing in the MDR is discussed and NO ONE asks How does a person's clothing affect the food you're eating ? I need to frame it.
  9. Exactly. I'm trying to extend vacation time by adding another cruise to an existing one. Other than looking at cruise port schedules, like cruise mapper dot com or similar ones, it's time consuming.
  10. The exact thing was said to me by porters- many times
  11. Not to hijack this thread, but I wanted to tell you that you're living the dream of cruising for 134 days ! I'm hoping to plan this for 2024 and this starting to look at the legistics.
  12. I believe that you’re right. if you want to sail to Alaska or the US East coast, where there are stops in Canada , you have to be vaccinated to cruise .m. the expensive ArriveCan will provide a QR code, which will then be linked to your passport.
  13. From what I’ve seen, both vaxed & unvaxed can have severe to almost no symptoms. which may be the reason that the CDC is leaning in the direction it is. People with Comorbidities/pre-existing conditions, whether vaxed or unvaxed, seem to have the more severe symptoms.
  14. You’re right- I won’t be going to Alaska or the East Coast where the ship stops in Canada and I’m okay with that. I’ll be going on RCCL and NCL this winter, as per usual, from LA to Mexico, which I usually do in the winters, which is okay with me too.
  15. 3 more lines are lifting mandates to some embarkation ports - Princess, RCCL & Celebrity Now, please put on your thinking cap and hear me out. There are 22 countries that still require vaccinations. Canada is one of them, so anyone unvaccinated cannot get on a cruise to Canada, going to Alaska, no matter what cruise line. do you see where I’m going ?
  16. Great explanation. My guess is that Testing upon boarding would catch a small percentage of people who may have caught covid a few days before embarking the ship. That number must be small enough where it doesn’t matter ? I have to be tested for work every day- since testing began . can you tell me what it is about the testing that you don’t like. I’ve read that the ‘stress’ people have about having to test & maybe being (+) and not being able to cruise. For me, I would want to know. thanks Lyannea
  17. This is correct- some of the early findings were taken by testing in Boston, of which I won’t go over the details because it won’t be within CC guidelines in discussing cruising. I’m very excited that the unvaxed will be able to cruise. Having been around my share of positive Covid patients in the last 2 years & remaining unvaccinated, I and many other unvaccinated colleagues have remained unscathed. Taking personal responsibility for the likelihood of catching any type of virus while cruising is paramount.
  18. I believe that they have it all wrong but as someone has said, it’s their rules. The unvaccinated will be amongst a majority of vaccinated passengers, some of whom may be positive for covid and not know it because they got the vaccine and are without symptoms. So testing the unvaccinated, who would have symptoms if they were positive m-doesn’t make sense.
  19. Could the unvaxed stay on board when in Victoria ? Hopefully, the cruise lines & Canada will allow the unvaxed to stay onboard the ship. Canada and 22 other countries around the world have restrictions regarding vaccinated only &/or 14 day quarantine when you get there.m, if unvaxed.
  20. There are a few U-tube videos where he describes his typical day on a cruise ship. He does work in finance, having a small group of clients and can do it while cruising
  21. I’ve never hung out at the pool to experience passengers who want to blow off some steam in order to relax. Sounds to me like the Activities Directors need to come up with other games or events outdoors during daytime hours maybe more dance parties ?
  22. I’ve done many Pacific Coast cruises and repositioning cruises. it’s a great way to relax. MSC has the option of taking a 17 day cruise, which can also be booked at a 16-day or 15-day by embarking at ports that the 17-day cruise stops at. I was wondering what OTHER cruise lines have that option I guess I wasn’t clear as to what I was asking initially- Sorry for the confusion.
  23. The Pacific Coast cruise was not on MSC . I spoke to the couple, who lives in Victoria & they embark there instead of Vancouver (still in Canada) . I’m inquiring about other cruise lines, other than MSC -where a 20-day cruise, for example has passengers embarking & disembarking at different ports, for a shorter cruise. I’ll look at the other cruise lines that have World cruises- thank you.
