  1. If a $5 tip works for you, great. There's nothing I send in that can't wait a few days.

I guess im happy you've left room for the rest of us. Thanks:)

The leaving of $5 was a piece of obvious humor......guess not :D

Are you a Princess Elite member, just curious?

  2. I might as well just pay for laundry or do it myself. :D:rolleyes:

Im confused:confused: if I over tip....I may get it back sooner :) Then its like paying for it. If I just let the Steward know upfront. No matter how nice or great he is, im NOT tipping  Will I still get my Free laundry in a timely manner? ??

I think ill take my chances with the First option, the second might get my things lost at sea :D

  3. I agree and a good tip helps you get your laundry back sooner it works for me :D

    Tony

I usually tip mid week, end of cruise and at times when steward does an extra service (shoes). If I gave $5 with the laundry bag, would I have a chance at same day service :) :D;)

  4. One of the reasons I enjoy cruising is its a great way to relax. I love being on the ship, sailing the oceans. I really love Sea days. The stops made are just a bonus. I'd rather visit a place for one day than not at all since ive retired. Because of this, I love the laid back feel of Princess. No Belly Flop or Hairy legs contest for me. Not looking for Rock climbing or Ice bars or even Robots making drinks. I feel Princess has the best perks at sea for its Elite level. Have met some great folks , cruisers and crew.

Every time I board a ship and a crew member remembers me and calls out my name. I do feel like 'They've Been Expecting ME' :) And I've made the RIGHT CHOICE:cool:

  5. On a 10 day Royal Repo cruise (2013)....lots of Elites. They were pushing the 3 day laundry. Sent items out on Monday and Tuesday. Received the Tuesday laundry on Thursday, no Monday laundry  Asked what happened to Mondays??? Steward let it slip that he brought the 'Wrong' laundry . Received Mondys items the next morning (Friday) On my latest Regal cruises (3 sailings) items sent out Monday morning, returned with Wednesdays turndown service. Grand class ships, The next days turndown service (even with more Elites onboard than Royal/Regal)

Laundry is a current unlimited perk for Elites. I now send a bag every 2nd morning. The Next morning if I had a spill and needed to use extra clothing.

I think the so called number of Elites onboard is a crock. Just a way to change the perk without acknowledging its changing.

Id really like to have more options regarding the Mini Bar. If you don't drink Alcohol or coffee, you miss out. I mean 2 coffee cards have a minimum value of aout $67. 17 cans of soda or water doesn't measure up. A cruise long unlimited soda and more card or 2

Specialty dinners would be a nice, equal value substitute.

    Just IMHO........

  6. You mean I am not supposed to knock people out of the way during my drive to the front of the line?

Thats funny :) thanks for the chuckle and memory.....

In Fll. Once had a lady attempt to brush by me in the 'Priority' line--only about 10 in line. She said , ' I Need to Get By, Im ELITE' When informed' We're ALL ELITE in this line. The 'Im NOT going to be FIRST in Line' look she had----'PRICELESS' :p

  7. On the Royal this past February, everyone had to go to one particular dining room and get a ticket and wait to be called for the tender. The Elites also had to go to the dining room and check in and wait. The Elites didn’t get a ticket and were allowed to board with the next tender group, but they had to wait with the group for the announcement.

On the Emerald in March everything you mentioned was how it workedrfor us....there was a line to get into the MDR. Asked one of the crew if I had to stand on the line....Myself and another Elite member were directed to enter. When the next tender was ready, A call was made for Elite members--4 of us--followed by the current number. Nice and orderly.....less han 10 minutes to board.

  8. Hi Roland - good to hear from you! We really hope to do this repo again and see everyone...we had a blast. I think my feet still hurt from that NY trek...but it was worth it. :) That is why I enjoyed those 3 sea days leaving NY! We enjoyed meeting you, Janet, Sean, and others....so keep the Retreaters going so we can hook back with the group down the road.

We have enjoyed Celebrity recently and are doing a few Royals coming up (Med cruise--can't wait!...and trying one of the big ones in January - Allure) - but we do aim to get back on Princess sometime - maybe the repo 2017 or 2018. (or Alaska again!)

    Happy sailing to all

    Blessings

    JohnBoy in NC

    Will do.

im doing a Sping and early Fall Transatlantic and European land trips next year. So if God willing, the repo will be a welcomed cruise to rest on :)

  9. JohnBoy......Forget the 'Running Man' :) You're the 'Walking Man' :D

We miss you......You are an Original Retreater and it was a pleasure to have sailed with you and your wife.

On a recent cruise with my wife, I spoke about what you guys do at dinner. With the 'Shared' third plate. We did this and the variety made for a nce dinner.

Last year Princess made a cruise long video of the Retreaters and Cruise Critic. You guys were an important part of what the group has become. Smooth Seas my friend.

Brooklyn Bridge to Time Square still blows my mind

  10. I have no illusions about them correcting the problem. But your assertion that they were never heated is unsound.

In any event, I choose not to take the absurd excuse given by Spa personnel ---that they are not designed to be heated and were never heated--- lying down. I would rather continue to confront Princess and the Spa Management Company with this "lie," than simply shrug my shoulders and accept it.

I was given a full refund for the Enclave fee for myself and my wife. If the problem persists on my next cruise, I will turn up the heat on the Spa management company even more.

There isn't any Brooklyn Bridge being purchased here.

Your spirit is to be admired. You're not the first to mount this campaign, nor the first to get a refund.. Many who've sailed this class of ship purchase the Enclave not expecting heated beds. Matter of fact, there is no waiting for them.....The rip off is that you must pay to use Steam/Sauna rooms. Grand class ships they are still free in the locker rooms. So good luck with your quest. I do look forward to hearing the reply you receive. Unless they are changed during the Dry dock....We'll be on her for 15 days--Canada and the Repo.....I dont expect a change . Nor really care. Good luck and happy cruising.

  11. They must have fantastic timing as I have never seen the suites as singles for less than USD700 for the 1NTs. The current pricing for the September 1NTs as a single in the smallest available suite is USD1100.

I'm just using this forum to exchange information. Im on the east coast and have been Elite for some years. West coast 1,2, day short cruises don't interest me, nor you because of the pricing. i wish you smooth seas and happy cruising, when, where and however you choose to cruise. Have a great day

  12. Everyone brings up the hypothetical solo suite cruiser on the overnight to Vancouver. "You can become elite in just five days!" Well, technically, yes, but how many people actually do this? It would cost some big bucks, and I don't think the number would be so large as to impact laundry and tender lines.

I must be the latest:) a friend from Vancouver just emailed me that she and her friends just sailed on the over night cruise from Seattle--they had fun-- so her friends can get to Elite before a planned group south Pacific cruise. And her husband to pass 50 cruise credits to receive the $100 to go along with the stock, military , casino rate and OBC they receive. They booked single suites at rock bottom prices.

My homes are on the east coast--Me, NJ and Va.--no short cruises for me.

  13. I think I was censored:eek: Talking about unheated beds:eek: my last post isn't here:confused: Im amazed.

I CAN'T understand why its soooo hard to believe that the chairs/beds were NEVER HEATED. My LAST (thank god) thoughts on this.......If by physics, logic, chance, alignment of the stars or just plain luck....that these things were at one time heated......THEY ARE NOT HEATED NOW :D and have not been heated the past few years.

Waiting to read the lame reply on how the company knew nothing about the 'Broken' heating elements. And the promise that they will be working ASAP:rolleyes: That bridge for sale is called the Brooklyn Bridge.

  14. Princess now offers IMHO the best perks at sea following just your 6th cruise...Platinum level is really the winner here. Internet minutes, priority boarding that matches Elite level is pretty good perks.

Laundry is ok if having tshirts, shorts done--Not expenive or delicate items--which for many come back ruined. My Mini bar is not much as I don't drink alcohol or much coffee. Some other options would be nice.

Not looking to start a war....I think an elimination of the number of cruises--1,2 day cruises giving up to 3 cruise points to a min. # of days only.....Ive met someone from the west coast who has never cruised longer than 1 or 2 days and made Elite on her 6th cuise---and longer to reach Platinum , priority boarding Elite only...would make the current Elite level mean more. In the next couple of years, whole ships might approach all Elites.

Just my opinion. Its clear something has to give. But the current rules are the rules for all.

  15. Update: I just spoke with Cust Svc rep from the company that manages the Regal and Royal Enclave. She confirmed directly that the BEDS ARE DESIGNED TO BE HEATED AND SUPPOSED TO BE HEATED and that if they are not it means that something is wrong.

She said that she has never had any complaint about the beds being unheated reach her ears before mine. She also said that internal inquiries have been sent to their operations department, and that she was eager to get to the bottom of the situation so it would be corrected.

Let's all pray that this actually results in the problem being corrected!

I wrote a post....must be on the other thread about these beds.

I said you cant find ANYONE at Princess ( their management) that could tell you this very day whether these things are heated TODAY wherever these ships are in the world. For a company to say they had no idea the heating system wasn't working and no one mentioned it in 3 plus years. Makes me shake my head.

There should be a box near the chair or at the base of the chair, where maintenance can be done.....Or do they have to jack hammer the whole chair if a $2 fuse blows ....

Can't wait to here the response you get. Its acknowledged they wanted the beds/chairs to be heated. But they cant/wont admit they NEVER were working/hooked up/designed correctly.

Im sailing the Regal 3 times in the next 11 months (6 times) since 2013. Ill bet dollars to donuts they wont be working, baring a Drydock between now and then. I enjoy steam rooms and ONLY pay the high Enclave price with OBC...never out of pocket money.

    Good luck everyone, happy cruising.

  16. Good news for you [emoji39]

Since the beginning Princess has advertised that the tile loungers and water beds in the Enclave are heated just like in the Thermal Suite on other ships. IMHO, they serve no purpose if they are not heated.

They serve no purpose. To think they once worked and have been broken--FOR YEARS:eek: Suggest the hard working maintenance workers dont know their jobs. The Enclave can get hot and 'everything'--floors, chairs, beds etc can appear hot. The truth is ....They have never been heated (chairs, beds)

You wont find anyone who has used the Enclave who will tell you they found the chairs/beds hot on two different cruises.

NEVER, will you find someone who found them Cold on their first cruise...BUT HOT on their next cruise,

You can't find anyone with Princess who can tell you they are working this very day...on a current cruise, where ever the ships are in the world. I doubt they are heated on the Majestic, unless they've taken notice of these threads.

  17. What's the point if they are not heated? It's one of my favorite treats when on HAL ships (going to Alaska).;)

2 things....we are speaking about Princess ships. The 'Princess' Grand class ships have obviously heated beds. 'Princess' advertised their new ships would have this feature and they DO NOT. I guess this is the point this discussion is about.

  18. You can see the prices in the attachment to the first post in this thread:

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2354813

I saw the spread sheet last week.

I guess I should have said:

Not sure if the pricing will change with the May 24th Red, White and Blue sale.

I was really asking if people would line up to be the first to sail a Princess ship through the new lockes, regardless of price or if they'd done it before. As they did for the Maiden TA on the Royal. Just was curious, its a lazy day here in NJ :)

  19. Its been announced the Caribbean Princess will be the First large Princess Ship to sail through the NEW Panama Canal. Not sure if pricing will change.

Would you sail this Maiden inaugural cruise ? Like when the Royal sailed her maiden TA cruise. Do you think the interest would be high?

  20. I have no doubt that they were designed and constructed to be heated. There is no reason for a bed to made of tile otherwise. The beds are identical in appearance to those in the thermal suites on other ships which are heated. Princess' own promotional video for the Regal on their website currently says the beds are heated.

This is a conversation that has been rehashed over and over here on CC. I'll concede this point.

Durining my 3 Regal cruises...there appeared to be malfunctions in the advertised heated tile beds :) We never found out why they didn't work...I have no doubt some sort of maintenance issue. No refund was requested, nor offered. During our upcoming Regal cruise and surely our Royal TA....we will request a test of the tile beds. Hope they will be working. Hope they work As Advertised on Everyone's planned Regal cruises.

    Happy Sailing.

  21. Sorry, but the maintenance person did not know what they were talking about and maybe that is the problem [emoji33][emoji33] The tile loungers were definitely heated on the Regal in September of 2014 and were just as nice as those on the Coral, Sapphire, Crown and Emerald [emoji4][emoji4]

Well they surely didn't work in October 2014, Jan 2015 nor October 2015....... Have they worked for Anyone since September 2014???? The Maintenance supervisor (his name tag said Supervisor) we asked appeared pretty smart. Bet they Wont be working on the next cruise. The Enclave is like the casino--you know it'll turn out bad--but you hope you're lucky ths time.

Good luck the next time everyone sails.

  22. Sorry to hear of your disappointing experience at the Enclave. I also love the Thermal Suites and was excited that now the Enclave is included in full suite perks so I could try it without paying extra:

    • Lotus Spa® Thermal Suite Access on select ships††

†† Included on Royal Princess and Regal Princess

I can't believe they would actually design the tile beds to not have heat - what's the point??? Cold tile isn't relaxing. I'm willing to visit the Enclave cuz it will be free, but I'd never pay money or OBC for that.

Princess, please fix this before Oct., 2017! ;) Thanks.

With the price of a Suite, you're paying.....obc is free money--isn't it  when using your included perk.....ask a smart looking maintenance person about the tile beds.

I'm convinced the guy who designed them also decided on the Blue carpet on both odd and even numbered cabin hallways.......decided the ship didn't need a milk shake machine.....thought it was a great idea to put the gym/spa on opposite ends of the ship. And no seating in the locker rooms. Paid cabanas in a Free pool area. Also that no one cared about the Wheel House Bar. Cold tile beds? Same guy:D

  23. The amusing thing.....the Tile Beds were NEVER heated  they may have appeared warm because of the heat in the room, but there is no heating devise connected to the loungers. Don't believe me? Ask a maintenance person away from the Enclave area.

Grand class ships with its Free (for now) steam/sauna rooms rates over the $200 plus Regal/Royal cost.

Enclave IMHO should be paid ONLY with Onboard Credits, not out of pocket--the bite isn't so painful this way. This is IMHO Only. About to take 4th Regal cruise (Royal once) Enclave experience is on a Downward slide.
