Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thanks everyone! I usually book guaranty and in over 30 years of cruising, I have never had a problem, but also never had the assignment as late as this. (We got our cabin assignment 2 months ago) We sail on Saturday. My sister doesn't get away much as she has a special needs daughter and I just want her to have a relaxing time away! I guess she could always stow away with my husband and I !
  2. Has anyone ever had this happen to them or someone they knew? On Princess. I thought I read somewhere that this happened to someone on another cruise line. I know you can get your cabin assigned as late as on boarding, but I am concerned for my sister who booked a B2B guarantee and got her cabin for 2nd week, but not first. I wouldn't be concerned if I had not heard this happening on another cruise line recently!
  3. I am on the Sky Princess 14 day sailing Feb. 24, 2024 and the upgrade bidding minimums are really high! I have bid the minimum for an upgrade from interior to balcony on two prior sailings and have been successful on both. Each of those times it was around $150pp, a great deal!! I never checked back to see if those minimums had gone down as the sailing got closer, so can 't answer my own question. Maybe this particular sailing is really full and therefore they can up the minimum bids? BTW, the minimum bid is $515.00 right now.
  4. Thanks for all the input! I am not a big drinker, so ordering a whole bottle delivered to my room or doing the Plus package would be a total waste of money. One little bottle will make 2 Old Fashioneds for me and I would only have one at night. I've thought about rum runners in the past, but was afraid those would be detected by their scanners!
  5. We've done the bus to Eagle beach several times. Very easy, fast and reliable!
  6. We've been to VCB several times and just rode the bus. We told the driver where we were going and they let us know when to get off. Easy. There is a short walk from the road into the beach. Then you go back out to road to get a bus back.
  7. I thought I read somewhere that the people running the scanners before boarding the ship at Port Everglades are not Princess employees and don't really care if you have some contraband in them, I.E. booze (Not talking about anything dangerous here...). Anyone have experience with this? I have so many of those little bottles of booze from my mini bar on previous cruises that I thought it would be nice to bring a couple along since our cruise is a bit longer this time. Please don't lecture me about how this is wrong, just wondering if anyone had any experience with this! Thanks!
  8. We are arriving to Port of Galveston on Nov. 5 on Regal Princess and are ataying at a hotel on Seawall Blvd. for one night. We would have walked, but it is 5 miles, so that's not an option. Anyone have any recent experience getting a cab when disembarking? I have read a lot of horror stories about how hard it is to get transfers when disembarking in Galveston!
  9. Thanks, I tried that under Cruise personalizer, but it just says transfers are available and contac your TA.
  10. Does anyone have any idea how much the Princess shuttle is from port in Galveston to Hobby airport? Also, approximately what time it would get to airport? This will be our first time at Galveston port and from what I've read AFTER booking this cruise (from FLL - Galveston), it sounds like this port is a lot more difficult to get out of and to airport. I have no idea what time I should book for our return flight! Thanks in advance for any insight!
  11. I just spent 30 minutes on the Princess chat and they said they "couldn't guarantee I could get off", whatever that means!?
  12. After I drop my carry on bags in my stateroom on embarkation day, I would like to run to the Walgreens near Port Everglades to pick up a few things i didn't want to pack. Am I allowed to leave the ship? If anyone has done this recently, can you also tell me how to get back on without going through the embatkation lines if possible? Thank Youz1
  13. A rep on the Princess chat said if I want to prepay my gratuities before sailing, I have to use a credit card and then once onboard, give gift card to courtesy desk and they will credit back my credit card. This sounds very unusual to me. Does anyone have any experience doing this?
  14. Love Mullet! Have been there several times by taxi. Took a bus back one time. Like to take cab because then we can stay as long as we like. I also have never seen much of anything snorkeling there.
