Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Sailing on Beyond with SO. She is Gluten Free. Does anyone know which Dining Room would give her the most flexibility in ordering Gluten Free. Should we stick to the Cosmopolitan for most GF availability or should we be safe trying the French, Italian and Med Dining rooms.
  2. Planning to go to Mendenhall Glacier with relative who uses scooter. Best way to get there??? Taxi, prearranged transfer?? We are a party of six.
  3. What has been the experience crossing into and out of Canada. If we drive ourselves with rental car, is there usually delays at the border? Have passports etc.
  4. Are there taxis available to take you to Mendenhall Visitors Center and available there to bring you back to cruise dock?
  5. I read the Chilkoot Trail was closed but I will follow status. I think the Whale Watching may get boring for the teens. Thanks
  6. We arrive at 5:30 to Victoria. If we depart ship around 7:00, what is the best excursion on our own to take so we can be back in a few hours. Would walking ti Inner Harbour or to see the Empress Hotel be worth it. Would enjoy Buchart Gardens, but I think it would be rushed and stressful on such a short port call.
  7. We are doing Solstice in early June. Trying to figure out some decent interesting excursions with our teenagers. Thoughts so far... Skagway....Lower Reid Falls Ketchikan.....Lumberjack Show and Rainbird Trail Juneau...explore Mendenhall on our own to Nugget Falls Random thoughts: The Aleutian Ballard was recommended however crabbing is stopped this season. We arrive to Juneau at 1:30PM so any planned excursion longer than 3-4 hours will cut into dinner back on ship and we do not want to do buffet at dinner. Most whale watches were starting at 4-5:00, so we would be back on ship 8-9:00. Also read on NPS website that Chilkoot trail is closed due to flooding and it needs extensive rehab so those excursions will be probably changed. We did the railroad in Skagway 20 years ago and think the boys will be bored after 20 minutes. Any input or your thoughts are welcome.
  8. Doing Solstice to Alaska Wondering if 12 year old kids can use the Solarium pool during the day since it is enclosed and warm. TIA
