  1. I have had my non surge protected extension cords taken way on two different cruise lines. This will be our first cruise on RCI. I will be taking a multi usb charger this time. Does anyone know how many 110 outlets the Explorer of the Seas has, and if there is one by the bed? I would line to take a very small fan that does not have usb.

I am taking one of these.

I have had one of these taken away also. Brand new, still in the package.

  2. Yes, but the cruisline has to participate also.

There was another post that stated RCL does use this service.

I can't find the post right now, but someone on the post said that RCL left a form in their cabin and it worked perfectly. Totally free, the problem is that all airlines do not use it yet and your flight has to leave after a certain time, I think 3 pm.. We will be using it next month.

I found one of the posts, #13

  3. The area is okay; at present there's an enormous amount of construction going on all around the site - mainly Amazon office towers and a few apartments/condos. You'll be about a block from Amazon's HQ with its "biospheres" (aka "Bezos' B*lls") out front.

There's not much in the way of restaurants unless you head to Seattle Center (3 - 4 blocks) or else down to Westlake (2-3 blocks.) You can walk to the downtown retail core or the Pike Place market in maybe 15 or 20 minutes, or to the Lake Union streetcar on Westlake (across from a Whole Foods) in 3 or 4 minutes. The waterfront can be reached from the Pike market in 5 minutes downhill. It's safe enough, just a bit bleak at night.

Oh ok, I guess we will be ok. Thank you!

  4. We have booked the La Quinta hotel in Seattle for September. After reading all these posts I am getting nervous about staying in this area. Does anyone have any feedback about this hotel and area? We were hoping to be able to walk to the waterfront and around the city.

  5. We live not far from one. My DH and DD are recreational skydivers and they practice at one of these so I thought I would try it. My shoulder didn't hurt while flying but that night it started to hurt and it took about a year for my shoulder to get back to normal. It has signs in place that if you have shoulder or back problems to not do it, but I had no prior problems. It was a blast though! I would love to do it again, but don't want to have that shoulder pain again!

  6. Hi, I am new to Royal Caribbean and read on their site that extension cords are not allowed. I use a small fan at night and it will need an extension cord. Will they lend me one to use? Also, can I bring a small power strip without a surge protector? I have one sort of like this: https://www.amazon.com/FosPower-3-Outlet-Wraparound-Extension-Portable/dp/B06XDJHXVB/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1498604997&sr=1-7&keywords=travel+power+strip

    Thanks!

  7. Link to Port Valet operated by Port of Seattle. We saw a lot of bags in the hall on the last night with coded Port Valet airline tags with different letters (for flight time periods). All the bar coded info the airline would need to get your bags to the final destination. Put them in the hallway and you don't see them until you are at last airport (if connecting). Free! The visit downtown Seattle, spend some money ;) and ride to airport via Link light rail for $3.

This sounds like a great luggage option. Does anyone know if your flight is late like ours if they will still do this? We fly out at 8 pm.

  8. At a buffet one time I saw a child who didn't like everything in some vegetables with shrimp. He was picking out the things off the spoon with his fingers that he like and putting it on his plate. Then put the spoon back in the food and doing it again, licking his fingers in between spoonfuls. I told an employee and they removed the the food. It drives me crazy to see unsupervised children at a buffet.

  9. Hello. We are new to Royal Caribbean and chose My Time Dining. I was looking around at our reservation on their website and under dining there is a place to sign up for reservation times for My Time Dining for each night of the cruise. Do you have to pick times for each day or can you just show up and possibly wait to get a table? The reason we picked My Time Dining is so that we didn't have to be at a certain place at a certain time. Thanks!

  10. We rented them from Oleander also. The guy showing us how to use the scooters was very nice. He had us go around the area until we felt comfortable. Once we actually started out we were quite slow and nervous. A little after leaving the rental place we had pulled over to let some cars pass us and a very nice gentleman on a motorcycle stopped to talk to us. He said just go at your own pace, the drivers are used to us tourist on the road. He said only think about yourself while riding and don't worry if cars on the road act like you are holding them back. It was very good advise and helped us a lot. We had a blast and can't wait to do it again, but this time we will remember to take the gopro camera!

  11. We were on the Miracle November 26th and we were about 5 people deep in the madness. I couldn't see anything and it felt like it took forever. They did not take anyone's name or scan our cards, so not sure how they would know we were even there. All they did was go to the children in the crowd and put wristbands on them.

  12. No power strips at all?! I have a non-surge protecting one set aside specifically for my cruise next month. This is going to be a big inconvenience if we don't have enough outlets. It's my first cruise though, so perhaps what I've heard about only having one outlet in an interior room isn't true?

No power strips at all is what he said when I picked mine up. I told him that the website stated a power strip with no surge protector was allowed on the website. He said that it should not be there. I have taken one on every cruise without a problem. I was quite surprised. Also, I have never been on a cruise with more than one outlet in the cabin. Maybe the suites have more than one, but we can't afford that. Next time I will put it in my carry on bag and see if they take it.

    Hi,

I am quite shocked to hear that your cabin was not ready with FTTF!! We have sailed on the Miracle many times and have always had it ready for us when we boarded! I would have reported that as it may not be due to the steward being overworked but may have just been disorganization or bad work habits on their part but no way to really know that??

Did the cabin crew/steward(and asst) introduce themselves to you right away or were they hard to find???

He did come to introduce himself a few hours after we boarded. Probably right before the muster drill. He was very nice and attentive all through the cruise. The assistant was around frequently but never introduced himself. They were not hard to find at all.

  13. How bad was the process of getting your rental car in Maui? Also, just curious, what did the age demographic of passengers turn out to be. Glad you had a great time, looking forward to our trip next month.

We rented from Enterprise. It was easy, but we reserved it a month or so ahead of time. We rented from the airport. There was a van shuttle to go back and forth. Process was quick, but at first we tried using the kiosk, and couldn't get it to work, So I would just get in line. There is a close Enterprise by the port, but they close a lot earlier than we wanted, so we went with the airport.

The age demographic was all over the place. We had from probably 20 to 70 year olds.

    Have a great cruise!

Oh and a last note. Make sure to read the maps book they give you at the rental office. We were going to drive the road to Hana and then come back around the other way. At the last minute, we saw in the book that if you go that way, your contract can be voided. I guess that road washes out a lot and is dangerous. They didn't tell us, we were just looking at the maps to see where we should go. With the amount of rain they had, it was probably washed out.
