    we certainly did!

    Thanks for the video!

I booked Seascape for next November, but in steerage class. 🙂 Will also bring our parents with us - my poor dad has mobility problems and will have to "enjoy" the elevators...

I don’t know how anyone in a wheelchair or with a stroller can even get on an elevator.

We have a cruise booked on Oasis this coming October. Noticed that our price had dropped by about $100 cd so I phoned to reprice. I have repriced other cruises on several occasions so I wasn't expecting any issues. The agent was polite and ran the numbers but he indicated that repricing would cost us more. The first reason was that $68 of the price drop was a result of a drop in the Taxes and fees cost from $468 to $400 cd. He said that even though that cost had gone down we had to pay the original cost that was in place at the time of booking. I wasn't aware  that these charges can change and I'm not sure why we would be locked into the original cost but apparently we are. The second change and this one I should have caught before I called is that our original booking came with a $50 US OBC and the new price does not include this discount so we would have lost this  bonus and would have ended up with a net increase to us of about $18 cd.

Just posting this to save people some  hold time. I should have considered the loss of OBC but the change in Taxes and fees was a new one for me.

We booked Vision of the Seas for Feb 6, 2023.  Our category, M1, has dropped in price $400.  We are losing the $50 obc but are gaining a $350 reduction in price. Keep an eye on pricing.

  3. On the Breakaway now.  Everything has been very good. We are in balcony 10876. It is a wonderful location near the elevators and the balcony is angled, so it is larger.  The food has been very good as has the entertainment. Not a Rock of Ages fan though.  Enjoy.

  4. In the past We have turned in items to the front desk. Ask RCCL to check with guest relations on the ship. You never know. Also, someone from guest relations or security could certainly call the cabin and ask to check the rear of the safe as a previous passenger may have left something behind.

Does anyone have any advice on who to contact at RC. My daughter left 2 diamond rings in the back of her safe on Anthem of the Seas last week. RC are not being very helpful not returning calls and saying they can't ask the guests in that stateroom because they might get offended thinking the are being accused of stealing the rings. It is very frustrating.
  5. IFly may be completely booked if you are going in July/August. Check as soon as you get on the ship to try to get a reservation. They do not seem to allow standby. Our group did it on our 6/30 cruise and it was great fun. Good luck.

    Hi cruisers!

I haven't been on RCCL since I was a teenager, so this will essentially be my first time on this line again, and I have a few questions about the 5 night Anthem trip to Bermuda.

    Entertainment

I am trying to finalize my reservation for "We Will Rock You" and am already booked for Day 4. I read in a Compass that it was held on the 4th night on a June cruise, so now I'm thinking I should change my schedule. What night do they traditionally hold The Quest on the 5-day Bermuda cruise?

    Dining

    • Is it possible or standard to get a table for 2 when you do dynamic dining?
    • As far as dining duration, I see it suggests 2 hours. I'm unable to get any dinner reservations 2 hours prior to my show times. Will the waiter be able to get me out of the restaurant faster or should I try to get earlier times once I'm on the ship? The times I'm looking for are unavailable online of course.

    Other Reservations

Since I just booked about a few days ago, I could not get any iFly reservations, and this is definitely on my to-do list. What's the standard wait time if you don't have a reservation? Everyone will want to do this on a sea-day of course, but that's just the nature of the game.

    Bermuda

    - I'll check on the port boards as well, but curious to hear your experiences too.

    • Have any of you purchased a day pass at a Bermuda resort? I'm wondering if pricing is reasonable?

    • Ideally, we would like to jet ski in Bermuda. Any recommendations on where we can do this affordably?

    • And finally, what is the cost of a taxi to Horseshoe Bay Beach? Has anyone taken a taxi to Tobacco Bay Beach? That was my favorite, but it's a good distance from the port.

Thanks in advance for the info! Looking forward to cruising again since it's been a few years for me. :p

  6. So, our TA made several suggestions on cabin assignments, based on the ages a d relationships of those traveling.

    There's:

    DH, DD (6) and me

    Dad/ stepmother

    Three nephews (17, 16, 14)

The cabins (again, for a variety of reasons) were assigned as

    Dad/stepmother

    Me, two nephews

    DH, DD, third nephew

Clearly that is not how we want this to be. TA originally suggested fixing it at check in, but I can't help but think that's going to be a disaster.

Some of the reasons were the age of travelers and cabin placement ( which has since been resolved... nephews are a few doors away from their grandparents), capacity restrictions in combination with when the nephews booked ( they booked significantly later than we did. At that point an original booking person needed to be in each cabin to avoid cancellation fees for those who ended up not wanting to go).

    What a mess.

Anyone ever have to move people around within booked cabins? Are we screwed?

Not going to lie...we got steered in more than one wrong direction by this person, so I'm concerned.

We had a simlar situation on Anthem and went to guest services and they switched us to the cabins we wanted to be in. Other than the long slow line at guest services everything went fine.

  7. DW and I have cruised a couple of times by ourselves but we have cruised with friends/family many times. In fact, we are usually part of a group of 4 or 5 couples when we cruise. We are a very close group of friends that do many other things together. For cruises, this is what we have always done and it has worked out great for us. We treat this as everybody's own vacation, we just happen to be on the same ship going to the same ports. First, we link our reservations so that we all eat dinner together. Dinner is our ONLY pre-planned activity together.

When we first get on the ship we find an area on the pool deck (or the deck above it) and this becomes "our spot". If you want to meet up with the group, that's where everyone can usually be found. If someone feels like lying in the sun, that's where they go. Odds are, there will be other people from the group there. If you want to be by yourself, you simply find another spot and hang out there. No one will bother you if you aren't in "our spot".

Shore excursions: Most groups of people don't always want to do the same activities. We understand this and plan our shore excursions accordingly. We usually get together before the cruise for a pre cruise party. We talk about the shore excursions available at the various ports. Everybody picks their own. If we all want to do the same thing, we all book it. If one couple wants to do "A" and another couple wants to do "B" then we book different excursions. Nobody is forced (or feels obligated) to do something with the group. We all do our own thing and everybody is happy. Then, at dinner, we say "What did you do today? How was it?"

Another thing we do is pick a different bar for a pre dinner drink every night. We spread the word to everyone at "our spot". If someone isn't there, we'll call and leave a message on their phone informing them what bar we'll be at. Most people show up for a drink, some don't. It's no big deal. It's their vacation, they can do what they want.

After dinner most of us go to the show. Then we'll find something to do afterward. Some will hang out at the Schooner bar, some will hit the casino, and some will find a place to dance. If everyone ends up doing the same thing, great! If not, we know that people are doing the things that THEY WANT to do.

The key is to not make this a big, group event. Too many people with too many different opinions makes it very hard to please everyone all the time. Don't force people to follow you everywhere and just as important, don't LET someone follow you everywhere. First time cruisers will want to latch on to the experienced cruisers. Don't let it happen. Encourage them to venture out and do things on their own.

I totally agree with the above statement. We also have dinner together, other meals are hit or miss. We like to go to beaches and luckily so do our friends, but if anyone wants to take a tour it's no problem. I prefer cruising with 4 to 6 of us. In June we have a family cruise with 16, should be interesting.
