You are correct, nothing on the 2025 Serenity schedule between May 10 and June 6. Drydock? Patty

It seems this is a case that shows that everyone should use a travel agent. These kinds of questions are ones where they can get the answer and can keep escalating to higher authorities until they know they have the correct answer. There is no reason to not use a travel agent and this shows there are times when a good travel agent is valuable. Patty P.S. And, yes, Tracie means any extra gratuities. Those are optional and at the guest's discretion.

Drive from Allen TX to Galveston
Texas Tillie replied to BridgeMates's topic in Gulf Coast Departures
Is Allen almost up to McKinney or closer to Denton? I go back to Dallas in the 60s when Spring Valley and Coit Road were considered far out! π€ͺ Think it would be good to make it to at least The Woodlands, in the northern part of the Houston metro area, if you are coming down I 45. Anything south of The Woodlands would be even better for the next day. -
MSC coming to Galveston in November 2025
Texas Tillie replied to George C's topic in Gulf Coast Departures
You live there, it might not be as easy for tourists -
You posted this on the luxury board. The price you want to pay is much below what a luxury cruise costs. Most luxury cruises start at around $500/day/person. Suggest you repost on this board https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/69-ask-a-cruise-question/ Good luck and happy cruising.

Wonder what we are to take from Crystal not participating?

MSC coming to Galveston in November 2025
Texas Tillie replied to George C's topic in Gulf Coast Departures
I have to assume that all the cruise lines new to Galveston or having announced they will be there in the future have looked into everything and found the positives to far out weight the negatives. They wouldn't be sending their largest, newest ships if they were unsure of the business prospects. I'd say the biggest issue isn't "infrastructure" in the Houston/Galveston area but the lack of diversity in ports available to mass market lines wanting to offer 7 day or shorter cruises. -
Review of Crystal Symphony from the Sydney Morning Herald
Texas Tillie replied to Stickman1990's topic in Crystal
On Symphony, only 76 out of 303 cabins or 25% are the old "cabins" and not suites. So, if a travel writer is given an Aquamarine or higher, they will write about the majority of accommodations on the ship. -
Anyone want to share their Explora experiences?
Texas Tillie replied to calliopecruiser's topic in Luxury Cruising
The horror!!π I enjoy vistaman's posts even if his standards are "higher" than about 99% of all luxury cruisers. -
Lenox does (or at least did) make a china pattern named Tuxedo. Back in the 1960s it was very popular.

Often, it's not a conspiracy, just stupidity!

I'm going to guess that all is ok as looking at his history here there is often a 2 to 3 day gap between his posts. Patty

It is an issue, but if the car rental agencies made money in Galveston, I think they would be there.

I posted the same thought (with fewer details) on the Crystal Society Facebook page and had a response from Cristina Levis (or an underling posting under her name) that those points aren't the case, but nothing about what is the case!! Patty

They have already said that a new casino will be smaller than the old casino and not in the location of the old casino. Patty

There's no way they could be considering eliminating gratuities from what's included. They aren't that stupid, are they?? πππ

Are you flying in? Maybe look at ones out by the airport and taking Uber/taxi to the port in the morning. Just discovered the reason - Taylor Swift is in town that weekend!

Since related to this topic, does anyone know where Edie is these days?πWonder if things have gotten so bad she's been forced to sell her expensive purses on E-bay?? As an aside, the devil made me post this. Patty

2012 was the year Crystal started including alcohol in all inclusive. I never heard anything like this on Crystal, but I'm not saying that you didn't that one time, Rick Spath was/is on the Serenity and I mostly cruised on the Symphony. I can say that was not the norm then and certainly isn't now.

I'll be glad when my May cruise on Nova is finished where I'm using most of the future cruise credit I received after Silversea messed up so badly on the previous cruise I had booked but never took. The balance of the FCC can, well, you get it. After May I won't be back here and will delete the other social media site. Silversea/Royal Caribbean will then be a memory. I'm sure it was a fine line before Royal Caribbean.

tropical expedition for a younger group, alternative to ponant?
Texas Tillie replied to 3ric's topic in Luxury Cruising
Paul Gauguin is operated as a completely different entity. Think about all the different lines that Carnival, Royal Caribbean and NCL own. It has always had a French vibe as Tahiti is French. I need to investigate Emerald, is it the same people who operate the river boats? Have never seen it mentioned anywhere. P.S. Just looked, 100 passengers, operates in Euros. -

Texas Tillie replied to 3ric's topic in Luxury Cruising
No, Paul Gauguin is a line that sails Tahiti and the South Pacific. Nothing to do with Ponant. Think you are asking for a combination that does not exist. You need to either adjust what you find acceptable or go to a land resort. -
This works for you because of the days of the week you are renting the car but since Enterprise on the island closes at noon Sat. and is closed all day Sun. and the majority of Galveston cruises come and go on Sat. and Sun., it won't work for the majority.

Realistic time for flights out of Houston
Texas Tillie replied to S.A.M.J.R.'s topic in Gulf Coast Departures
Fog forms when the air temperature is higher than the water temperature, so over the winter into early spring. March is full on spring in Texas, by April the water has warmed up enough to get close enough to the air temperature. By summer the air is 90 something and the water is upper 80s. -
What's interesting (actually, not, knowing human nature) is that the ones who proclaim things like this the loudest are also the ones who complain the loudest when fares go up. π
