  1. Try posting the question to this board for more specific answers https://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/forum/564-australia-new-zealand-cruisers/
  2. If you use mainly a debit Mastercard or debit Visa, try inserting the card and using your PIN. Went to cafe and did tap and go and was charged the fee. Next time inserted the card and used PIN, no fee
  3. If you are cruising out of Sydney the 4.00pm departure times are standard. It would only be later if there was an issue with the ship etc They have to get out before the peak hour ferries as it is right next to the commuter ferries at Circular Quay. Otherwise there are some, but not the majority scheduled to leave after 6.00pm after the peak hour.
  4. From the Princess Website FAQs Smoking Policy Keeping the comfort of our guests a priority, and in consideration of consumer studies which show smokers are a small minority of guests, Princess has implemented the following smoking policy: Designated Smoking Areas Clearly marked “Designated Smoking Areas” are available on board and include a sufficient number of ashtrays that are emptied regularly. Generally, these areas include cigar lounges, a section of the nightclub, as well as a portion of the open decks. The Casino and Casino Bar are non-smoking areas on board, with the exception of designated slot machines where guests are permitted to smoke only while playing at those machines. All table games are non-smoking. The Casino will also have one or more non-smoking nights (6 pm to closing), depending on length of voyage. Show lounges, dining rooms and all food services areas on board all Princess ships are non-smoking. As a safety precaution, guests are reminded to properly dispose of cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco, which are never to be thrown overboard as this may be sucked back into the ship and cause fires. Stateroom Smoking Policy Princess Cruises prohibits smoking or vaping of all types, including e-cigarettes, in guest staterooms and balconies. This reflects the preferences of a vast majority of our guests who value having their primary living space (both stateroom and balcony) smoke-free. As balconies are a hallmark of Princess Cruises, we believe it is important to keep this peaceful space clear of smoke. Violations to this policy will result in a $250 fine for each occurrence, which will be charged to the guest’s stateroom account. Keeping with the global trend toward more restrictive smoking policies and honoring the wishes of our guests, we feel this enhances our onboard experience.

  12. When cruising restarted overseas, there were many, many posts on CC about Covid for a lot of the cruise lines. This included people who were quarantined on ships and others asking general questions. But remember that their restart was many months ahead of Aust/NZ. So now that subject has started to wane. Also a lot of cruises out of the US are quite short ie 4, 5, 7 days. So if people get sick they usually find out after they get home.
  13. Years ago Westfield Sydney was a pretty normal shopping mall. Then they re-did the whole thing and put high end stores in. If you want some further trips on the harbour, try: Ferry to Manly or Ferry to Watson's Bay then a walk around South Head https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/walking-tracks/south-head-heritage-trail Hope you have a nice time enjoying our lovely city.
  14. People who live in metropolitan Sydney shop in the suburbs. Lost of malls and shops that have reasonably priced clothes. Lots of residents rarely go into the centre of Sydney. The Westfield's in the suburbs have 'normal' stores 😃
  15. Mrs F I also go with Cancer Council suncreen. I am very fair and use this. They also do a roll on that you can just put in a handbag if you are doing city sight seeing If you are doing any swimming/snorkelling during the cruise, would also suggest swim shorts. Especially good for back of upper leg
  16. Had a sheltered balcony on deck 4. Couldnt see the ocean if you were siting down but was good to sit out on during the Tasman Sea crossing to NZ.
