If you don't want to go to Rome (cause you've been before and it's too far), take the time at Civitavecchia to catch up with free wifi. Your ship will offer a free shuttle to the port gates. From there walk to your right (in town) and you'll see Bar Vespucci. A small town bar with great coffee, pastries and free wifi. When you order a coffee (1Euro), ask for the wifi password. You'll see locals reading the paper, and crew from the ship facetiming. Have fun.

Here are a few tips for your stop in Toulon. We docked at Seyne. When you exit the ship there is tourist office a few meters away. They speak English. If you want to go to the beach, there is Plage des Sablettes which is beautiful and not very far. Do not take the ship excursion (over $40 each) or a cab. The Rouve bus stop is a 2 minute walk (ask the agent in the Tourist office). The fare is 1.40Euro. It's a 7 minute bus ride. The bus is airconditioned, the driver will give you change and each stop is announced. It's 13 stops to Sablettes. Once at Sablettes, it's 30 second walk to the beach (opposite the open sea side). There are restaurants along the beach. You can also rent umbrellas. We had a great time. Enjoy.

Thank you for the post. Which beach did you take the bus to? How long was the bus ride? Did the beach have chaires for rent?

The bus provided by our ship is $40 a person, so I figure taking a cab would be cheaper but I heard it is difficult to find a cab. Is this true? If I do get to a beach, will it be difficult to find a cab to get back to the ship? Thank you.

Are there any beaches in Athens? Are they far from the port? Thank you.

Yes Marc is still on the Enchantment of the Seas. I just got back from the 5 day cruise (May 16 - 21, 2009). He will be leaving RCI in 3 weeks. He didn't mention where he will be going. He's a real funny guy.
Beach in Nassau (Day Pass?)
in Bahamas
Posted
We are planning on heading to Cable beach in Nassau. Lots of people are talking about Day Passes at Hotels but this is expensive. Can we simply head to Cable beach next to a hotel and rent a long chair and umbrella? Or simply hang out on Cable beach with our ship towels? Can anyone share their non-day pass time on Cable Beach and provide any tips? Thank you
