  1. Hope that all of those, especially in the UK and the Commonwealth counties, who appreciate the pageantry are able to enjoy the coronation spectacle today. I now more fully realize that those of us who watched Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in grainy images on rather smaller TV screens in 1953 are rather in the minority. 😀 I do hope the weather in the UK improves!
  2. I am certain that is true in some (many?) cases, but my TA got through this afternoon to cancel an upcoming cruise. Perhaps our location in North America is a factor. I am hoping that all the frustrations gradually recede. Our youngest is a Project Manager for a large institution’s IT Department. Her experience is that there may be a large number of factors that could lead to this failure in transitioning. Human ones might be front and centre.
  3. Back in the early days of Viking’s very rapid expansion in river cruises, on the River Cruise Forum there were posts questioning Viking’s viability. Since the cruise line was also privately held, there was lots of opportunity for speculation. We see how that worked out. We too had a struggle with an inability to contact Scenic. When the website finally returned it was still very, very slow and frustrating. We now have to change a reservation and for the past week there is no possibility of getting to the reservation function, But neither of these points is intended to detract from the seriousness of the issues facing some who are struggling to work with Azamara. My sympathies to those who are caught in this situation,

    New website.

Thanks so much! I found the appropriate selection. In defence of having to search for this, I do prefer it to the almost immediate and persistent badgering to sign up for emails on the RCI site. I have confidence that the website issues will be resolved. Thanks again for helping me find the appropriate link.

    New website.

We seem to have fallen off the email list for the first time in over 10 years. What is interesting is that, unlike every other cruise line website that pounces on any perceived interest, I can’t seem to find a way to sign up for emails from Azamara. Is there a way to do so now or is it best to wait until the new website is fully functional?
  6. At the table, my Presbyterian upbringing taught me that one gratefully accepted what was offered to one if one knew what was good for one.😀 I agree with your preference.
  7. Thanks for reposting this discussion. Our experience is from 2019 but, as I have previously mentioned on this forum, we encountered more aft noise and vibration than on any other Azamara ship. If there is a unique issue, perhaps there are some dry dock changes that can mitigate that problem.
  8. To lessen my envy I will take the opportunity to watch the Good Guys play in Spring Training this p.m. the team who, I believe, are your Good Guys. If that game turns out badly I will again tip my hat to your choices. 😀
  9. And that confirms your foresight. There are some compromises that are beyond the pale. Enjoy your cruise!!!!
  10. My goodness!!!!! I am filled with admiration at your foresight and with envy at your experience.
  11. Well, just to your north there is an airport with a sterling reputation. Granted you may have to connect at Pearson, but you will be able to buy some poutine and that will distract from any challenges you might encounter. 😀
  12. Interesting thought. We are leaning the same way. Enjoy your cruise!
  13. Hope everything goes well as you implement your new travel plans! This coming storm has triggered all sorts of dire predictions.
  14. Then we will be optimistic that HMY Britannia eventually receives the approach/setting that she deserves. We only visited her because of a “free” afternoon and did not expect to be so moved by the sense of history and the era that she represents. Whenever The Crown portrays a scene on board, we are reminded of our reaction.
  15. Great advice! Certainly easily walkable, but the mall experience can hardly be thought to create an ideal atmosphere for approaching such a storied vessel,
  16. Credit to you for sharing an important moment with the owners of this business, especially on such a cold day. But I am a little concerned about that adjective “Maudite” in connection with poutine. 😀 In contrast, Ii am watching on TV the first Spring Training game for the good guys down in Florida.
  17. Some years ago, we experienced an Azamara Evening at a winery near Barcelona. The tour of the winery included a rather lengthy tour of the wine cellars riding in a tractor-pulled train. It was repetitious. At its conclusion there were drinks outside and then we entered a hall where flamenco dancers entertained. It was the best part of the event but required some attention to getting good sight lines.
  18. The only rodents who are out and about here are vandalizing bands of black squirrels and I refuse to dignify them with a name. Lots of oaths, but no cute names.
  19. I thought her excitement was premature. She suffers from the impetuousness of youth. More seasoned hands have to provide guidance. Hmm. Booking a cruise during maple syrup time. I trust you have security cameras to identify syrup rustlers.
  20. We are now experiencing a week during which the daytime temperature is above freezing. A neighbour excitedly told me that it is time to deploy with haste the spigots, pails, lines, etc. to capture the life giving elixir that runs through maple trees. I cautioned her that until we receive announcements from the observers in Vermont, we must wait patiently for their declaration of the official “Maple Syrup Season!!!!”.
  21. You are certainly correct and I hope my post didn’t imply that you could. If the flight is at 14:00, then there should be no need to leave before around 8:00 and there will be lots of Azamara transfers available. At least there were the last time we disembarked at that 8:00 at Civitavecchia. Using OBC makes a lot of sense.
  22. We have always used RomeCabs but your OBC makes this an interesting question. What time is your flight?
  23. My booking, for 6 free nights, was about a year ago. I was surprised and perhaps they were just being flexible because of the Covid situation. Thanks for posting. No doubt your experience reflects their most current and thus relevant policy. Actually it is the policy we expected to be applied back then.
  24. That was our experience. It seemed to be a change from the original policy.
  25. We have used the “free” nights successfully in order to save money, but it does require considerable research and also knowledge of itineraries that are least likely to be discounted.
