We always book onboard for the discount and OBC, and a year or better in advance, usually a great deal.

Sounds like he was probably new, or his help was sick? Just guessing, in over 25 cruises we never has an issue with our steward.
-
We especially like late December though mid-March time frame. :)

Agreed - love to leave the cold and land in the warm! Great time to be in the Southern Caribbean!
-
Just started here in the north east - going to be digging out tomorrow night and hopefully so is the airport! We are leaving Saturday for the Brilliance out of Tampa!
-
And a small lounge it is, will be on the February 2nd cruise, hope it's not too full as we enjoy a pre dinner cocktail in the lounge.
-
As many here have said - Beware - once you cruise in a suite it's hard to go back! We did a grand suite many years ago for a special occasion and never booked anything else since! Good luck and enjoy the Suite Life!

Southern Caribbean is the favorite for us, out of San Juan, favorite class of ships is Radiance or Voyager class.

Have you ever sent the concierge an email with requests? Thanks for your reply!
Yes and they have been handled, from reservations to Chops or Portofinos, or a Cabanna at Labadee, they have always responded promptly and provided what we requested.
-
We always stay in suites, I would have say 2 out of 3 times we get an email from the Concierge, it's all up to them whether they send them or not.
-
If you can why not try both, they are both very good, I would probably lean towards Chops if I could only do one. Portfolios has a great tira misu for desert that comes with a triple shot"

We always book direct with Royal, mostly while we are on board. I guess it's a personal choice, seems to work out either way.

Congratulations on making Diamond! It is not an easy thing to do, well it sure is fun! I would have to say you are correct, there should have been more interaction with the concierge and at the least a smile and congrats when you got your pins.
We have found that some concierges are much better than others, some will just sit at there computers all the time while others are always present and talking to everyone, the latter we have found is the norm, you will experience that soon enough, most of the. Are fabulous.

You are so correct! Congrats on the promotions,I see you have already found a great way to spend a little,of the extra $$$$$.
We used to get a balcony cabin which was fine UNTIL we splurged on a GS years ago for a special occasion, we'll we never looked back and always book a GS now, just works out perfectly for us. The only issue now is we just got off the Explorer where we received a great deal on an OS, Wow! Definitely won't be booking an OS all the time but we will be thinking about it!

Mudslide

What a great thread! We have met so many nice folks on cruises, we travel a lot with friends but try to cruise once or twice a year just the 2 of us, we tend to meet some very interesting people.
Last year on the Brilliance repo from Bayonne, we met two very nice couples in the CL, turned out we met every night for the entire cruise, it was really nice to meet such great people and enjoy quality time!
-
Have been on a bunch of cruises, never had a bad experience, have some been better than others? Yes!
-
Maybe the long wait...is due to RCCL planning new itineraries for summer 2015...one can only hope!!
Or that quantum may only be in Bayonne until the current itineraries are sailed, there has been some talk about her leaving and the independence coming to Bayonne, just rumors yes, but interesting how we have heard this a few times from different people.
-
This probably varies a bit but out of the cabin by 8:30 and off the ship by 10:30.
-
I am always asked by friends and family why we cruise so much, and even why with Royal all the time? For us it's the love of the seas, and the excitement of being on the ships, being able to visit many places.
And why with Royal? When you find a good thing why mess with it!
What makes you cruise over a land based vacation?
-
The big ships are fun for a change, but they are not my preference. I hope they aren't the only wave of the future for Royal.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk, please excuse all the typos.
I couldn't agree more, it would be nice to have a few new radiance class ships!
-
Great report, looks like you really enjoyed yourselves! Thanks for the update, be on that cruise right after New Years!
-
Wouldn't it be nice if Royal would build a couple NEW smaller ships?
-
Either would be a good idea, there is not much else there, been to Samana 3 times and unless you are on and excursion it's pretty boring.
