  1. I noticed from your pic that a cove balcony is much closer to the water. Just wondering about the possibility of getting water up onto balcony in rough seas? I know, I over think things, and worry about things that may never happen! Lol!

We have sailed 3x in a cove on the Breeze. There is a heavy steel door that they close over your door to the balcony in the event of rough seas. They close them from the outside. You can still see out of the window next to the door but I doubt you'd want to in rough seas. We had salt on the railing every day. After or first cruise on the Breeze I took some folded paper towels to wipe the rail in the morning so we could put our arms up there. The furniture didn't seem to be a problem. I know the cabin steward would clean it if asked but we get up early and prefer to not bother him/her.

  2. I don't think Carnival allows 4 people in an ocean suite. I'm not 100% sure but I'm at about 98%. My 2 sisters and 2 friends tried to book one and were told only 3 in a suite.

I'd go for 2 rooms. Then you'll have 2 bathrooms also.

  3. If that's true about not paying a jackpot if it's not the actual person's card, then what would happen in the event someone hit it big during a slot pull? Would everyone be out the money?

I would think that obviously the person whose card is in the machine would be right there. That person would get paid. And I think they also get a W2-G for gambling winnings. I know someone who won a big jackpot on a slot, on a cruise, and got a W2-G.

If that scenario would happen there would be some math to do so the person claiming would get compensated for the taxes.

  4. You can only have one card. A duplicate cancels the first. Also, you would not be able to have the same card inserted in two different machines at the same time. Their computers know exactly who is at what machine at all times. A They also check the cards on any hand pay jackpots and will not pay if you are using someone's else's.

Yep I saw it happen last Feb on Glory.Lady hit a $5000 jackpot and husbands card was in machine. Boy were they pissed when she didn"t get the $$$

  5. I'll be a Platty on the first day of our Jan 29 cruise, We usually book a suite so some of the perks are included with that. But I'll be all over those strawberries LOL We don't cruise for perks. We cruise for fun. But the perks help make it more fun.

  6. coinkc....I would do a search on here for some trip reports and check out peoples photos. It will give you an idea of what to expect on different cruises. In my opinion you can't go wrong with either an eastern or western Caribbean cruise for your first. Your budget will determine what kind of cabin you book. A Carnival PVP (Private Vacation Planner) can help you a lot. Mostly I would tell you to just check out others Trip Reports. And read a lot here. And ask lots of questions. No question is dumb if you've never cruised before.

  7. I own a wine shop and I just checked Carnivals wine list. They have no sweet reds on their list. Closest in sweetness level would be a Moscato which is white. It is pretty sweet though. BTW I have a bottle of Stella Rosa in my kitchen right now. Why don't you stop on the way to the ship and buy 2 bottles to take on the ship? You can each take one. have her open it in the cabin. Pour 2 glasses of it. Each of you carry a glass into the dining room. When she finishes her glass she can drink yours. Voila!! OR have her buy a bottle of Moscato before you leave and try it at home.

As stargate fan said the Castello del Poggio is sweet and bubbly like the Stella Rosa.

  8. We usually book an OS for the extra room because I use a scooter. I love the dressing room off the bathroom and the closets also in the bedroom area. BUT I see on the Vista that there is NO dressing room and no extra closet or chest of drawers like on the older ships. I see no advantage, except for a little more floor space, in booking an OS on the Vista. I would probably just book a balcony and make do with that amount of space. Glad i saw these pictures before I booked one.

  9. :D:D:D Sorry, I don't mean to laugh, and I am not being mean about this, but excuse me if I say you had it all perfectly right, and then you screwed it all up by saying you don't know. You need to be more confident. Really, be more assertive. Stick your neck out a bit. And don't apologize. You had it down.

The reason I said I didn't know was because I play in the casino A LOT. I blow thru the OBC the first hour the casino is open. So I've never cashed out any OBC......only my WINNINGS......and I do that at the very last minute on the last night. I wasn't sure if you could cash out OBC or if it was a "use it or lose it" situation.

    p.s.....HawkIVette.....Glad I gave you a little chuckle.

  10. Also found this video of a 4K on the Spirit (sister ship of Pride) which has one good shot of the desk opening. Looks like 24" at least. Hopefully :)

I watched the video and I think that if you move the beds closer to the window you'll have enough room to park the scooter right alongside the desk area and still be able to get to the potty during the night. I think you'll still need them to get rid of the coffee table. I'm very confident it can be done without taking it apart.

  11. Wow what an employer. Nice guy for sure.

My niece and her hubby are going on a "company cruise" in Feb. Its a sales promotion and the company bought out the entire Splendor I think. Then they had so many qualify that they had to book half of another ship. The kicker is that the company owner is Morman and there will be NO alcohol served on board. I wonder what they had to pay Carnival for that priveledge? I feel bad for the waiters and bartenders who certainly won't make many tips that week selling Cokes. I'll be anxious to hear how this cruise goes.

Bravo to any employer who can do this for their employees.
