  1. Nope only one move allowed apparently so on this one I think we will cancel and sacrifice the deposit. When we booked the cruise the terms were different but hey ho that's the way it goes. We have already moved once. It wasn't a large deposit at all so will sleep.
  2. Thanks. Was trying to find terms etc but having to use the phone so not easy to find at all. Thanks for the help.
  3. Just been told by TA we can not move a cruise from May 24 to one in Sept 25 even though it is longer and more expensive due to PO amendments policy. Surely this isn't right.
  4. I had it in 2019 .. caused by stress to be honest looking back. Was 55 ... it was horrible and like I said I was lucky that it was not as bad as it could have been. Still get stabbing jabs in my side when tired and stressed . Like electric shocks ... I
  5. Alas we are still stuck to school holidays so can't do these one offs .. one day
  6. Not sure if you can help me rather than starting another thread. Taking a friend on her first cruise with us in May. Want to get her something for her cruise. Knowing her well just wondering if we can buy OBC for someone as a gift rather than having to buy a gift? Help
  7. I've had a severe case of shingles and believe me when I say that if you can have this jab have it. It is a nasty illness and I know that I could have been worse.
  8. Hi everyone. TBH we want to change on board as it must be easier than when we moved a cruise with our TA last time on land as the TA were told a number of times by PO that a cabin we wanted was not available. Drove us mad as we could book on line but with PO direct the TA had no clue and we were the ones advising. It took a week of us demanding the cabin we wanted and refusing to listen to the TA. If we need to move it at home we do .... just wanted to take care of the blood pressure 😉
  9. Thanks both, this was our thinking but I seem to remember someone say that they had kept a TA in the loop with an on board booking. This may have been a new cruise though. Not a problem, we can sort it. Thanks again for your help - really appreciated :-)
  10. We got our test signal on both phones - one turned on and the other (just out of curiosity) with the sound / vibrate switched off. They went off in unison at 2.59. We moved them to the kitchen though - the cat was snoozing happily on the settee so didn't want to freak her out 😉
  11. I hear there was a spelling mistake on the Welsh bit, so best not to say anything locally .....
  12. We have a cruise booked for next May 2024, but looking back it was always a 'holding cruise' (if that makes sense) and we were waiting for the right time to move it. We have seen a 2 week cruise at a decent price to the Canary Islands for about £2860 with £120 OBC later in the year and are wondering if we will be able to move it when on board Britannia in May. (I.e. when we have seen what the P&O offer is like now!) The only problem is that we booked with a travel agent so are not sure how this could work. Any / all help appreciated. Thanks 🙂
  13. She's a bigger ship so am guessing at least 500 ducks ............
  14. 200 in the pool.. ducks or children.. mmmmmm
  15. Sorry this thread is now making me chuckle. It is almost at the fever pitch that the dress code used to rise to. Is it April 1st again? Keep calm and chill people --- they are plastic ducks (and very cute ones at that) and am guessing that whoever finds them does not throw the packaging over the side. I have to say that I draw the line if any of them is found taking up the space on a sunbed by the pool ...................
  16. I think I am a pretty level headed person, but I still find it quiet sweet if we found a 'duck' somewhere and it would make me smile - even without children on board. Lighten up - like I said - have heard of plenty of worse things happening on ships so why worry about it? Perhaps its just me and I need to book an appointment at a local psychiatrist or retire ......or both. 😉
  17. We have stayed at Darwin's Escapes (English company) a number of times and we always get a free duck for the jacuzzi in our accommodation. Of course we never ever use them -------- cough ---- though they now live in our caravan. 😉 (Only 3 of them though) To be honest, I just think this is a bit of fun and would find it amusing. There are plenty of other negative things that I am hearing about on ships at the moment and finding the odd plastic or knitted duck would be the least of my worries. I think it would be quite funny ..... sorry. Anyway, coming from Stoke on Trent, we call everyone 'Duck' so it'll be like being at home. 🙂
  18. Hubby says I am the reason for any weight gain as I often pass over some of my meal to him that I can't eat ... especially the desserts 🙂
  19. To be really honest, I am not sure now. (Have reflected a while before replying to this thread) Our last cruise was on the Celebrity EDGE August 2019 and am not sure that we will find a ship to beat that one. The whole experience was amazing. Since then the world has had Covid-19 and we have re discovered a whole new world of stay home vacations at our beautiful static caravan by the sea in Wales and have now just returned from an amazing land holiday in Sorrento. The service and hotel there was faultless and it was good to stay in one place and soak up the atmosphere. We will be on our first cruise for a long time on Britannia (now our favourite PO ship) in May and then to the Caribbean next year. For some reason I am not feeling that same sense of excitement for the one in May as I used to have. The Caribbean is a bucket list one for me so can't wait to see these places. Not sure why, but am hoping that Britannia proves me wrong as I think our cruising days may be behind us .... (I may read this one day and laugh!!!!)
  20. We did a small train ride last time to a vineyard and a lovely beach. Like a ho ho train. Whatever each to their own.. for some reason we like it.
  21. We are happy to visit the same ports that we like as we often take an excursion to have different experiences. E.g. We've been to Mykonos lots of times but have done walking tours of the town, taken ourselves for a stroll, done a boat trip and another excursion of the island and a meal at a stunning restaurant. Always happy to go there and enjoy a drink on the quay side. One place we could visit over and over is Kotor - just stunning. Love Katakolon -we just like to stroll this little town and have a drink by the quay side. (There is a theme developing) Other definites: Rhodes, Santorini, Venice, Dubrovnik and La Coruna
  22. All good things come to an end --- we had to come home from Sorrento 😞 Excellent flight and we were very relieved that we had a good landing despite the high winds having had an aborted landing the last time we flew in Feb 2020. Oh well, unpacking finished and time to write reviews and dream ...... Next stop Britannia. It will be interesting to see how we enjoy our first cruise since 2019 and how the service, food and experience compare to this land holiday.
  23. Mr Presto hit the ice cream today ... absolutely packed in Sorrento as it is a Bank Holiday. Not being sarcastic when I say that I have never seen so many Italians in one place at one time. Normally when holidaying your see more tourists than locals. Today was like the whole of Naples descended to have a fab day out. Good for them to be honest and it made for a great atmosphere. They even has Punch and Judy Napoli style !!
  24. I thought they'd sold her so am under no illusions that she may be going to the great shipyard in the sky 😞
