  1. Just a concern that she would travel the day she sails ..... that would worry me ..
  2. Hi How do we now book speciality dining? Do we book before we go on line or do we have to wait until we are on the ship? Similarly, if we are on freedom dining, is it all back to normal and we just turn up and take a pager? Have not been since Covid so feel like we don't know what we are doing Help
  3. Beautiful place too ... but not a place for mad parties TBH ......... had an amazing time and it was nice to go back .... Came away wondering where the time had gone though ....
  4. Ahhhhh small world. Someone who knows where it is 🙂 I just had the best time ever in rural Wales. For what I wanted to study it was there or Manchester and the colleges there and halls of residence were in Moss Side. NO insult intended but to me no competition ... ahh feeling nostalgic this weekend
  5. To anyone who lives in that part of the world, my friend would be eternally grateful if anyone could give her some good advice. She is on her first cruise with us and lives in Haverfordwest. At the moment she is being collected by coach from Pont Abraham a M4 service station. It is a way from her home and a taxi is about £100 ... Can anyone who may have done this route before or lives close by give me any tips to pass on re the best way to get from Haverfordwest to Southampton? Many thanks Have created a roll call for specific info
  6. Here we go ..... lovely place. 200 yrs old now ..... I feel it !!!
  7. Just got back from a trip down memory lane. Been down to my University as a 40th year anniversary visit to meet my friend I was at college with. It was at Lampeter part of the University of Wales (mid Wales) and it was lovely to go back again. Made us feel very old, but a really lovely short break. We are also taking her on her first cruise. We had originally asked her to go on Oceana with us but we all know what happened there. We are off on Britannia and we all have an aft cabin. We looking forward to our first cruise since 2019 and love Britannia so no problems there. !!! Have some questions from her and am not sure where to post them as I think it may be more for a specific cruise. Will post some photos of my college in a minute incase anyone on here is Welsh and knows where it is !!! Most people don't 🙂
  8. We are taking a friend with us for her first cruise to the Norwegian Fjords late May. Very excited as it will be our first time on a ship since August 2019. We are the ones who are supposed to know what we are doing, but as this was booked before Covid we have found that we have NOOOOO idea about some things! She is asking me about what to take dress wise and I was wondering if there are still any themed nights such as the formal black and white night. Any help appreciated so we can at least look like we know what we are doing 😉
  9. Hi sorry just catching up. We are expecting anything re the weather but hoping for dry and bright ! Have had a look and done some research so looks like some interesting processions . We want to take ourselves to Pompeii by train perhaps on the Saturday but will avoid the Amalfi Coast until the Monday or Tuesday as am guessing it will be manic !!! The hotel has been good answering questions so may message and ask re dress code 😉 Will keep you all in the loop with photos when we get there .. just pray for sunshine !!!
  10. Just been looking at this. So we can take a litre of vodka and as much decaf diet coke as we want? Normally wouldn't bother re the Coke but have decaf and don't think they do this on the ship.
  11. Happy birthday to you -- clap, clap. clap Happy birthday to you Happy birthday, happy birthday Happy birthday to you .. clap, clap, clap Fill in the tunes yourself 😉
  12. PS Did they all stand around in a circle and sing 'Happy Birthday to you !'
  13. Looks very nice --- hope you have had a good day and the headache tomorrow wont be too bad :-) Us Prestos :-)
  14. Hi, We are sailing on Britannia for our first cruise since 2019 so now getting really excited :-) We are sailing with a friend who has a separate booking number than us and are thinking ahead and wondering how we would be able to book a table for a speciality restaurant for the 3 of us with 2 different booking numbers. To be honest, we have no idea how things work now when it comes to booking anything at all in this post Covid world, so any help and advice would be appreciated. (It is our friend's first cruise and we are supposed to know what we are doing ...... not sure that we do !!!!!!!) Help :-)
  15. Hi Brian, nothing to do with allotments but help needed re Italy in April over Easter. We are off to Sorrento for a week over the Easter break and though we have been a number of times in August have no idea what to expect at all in terms of weather, what to wear, what Easter Sunday will be like. We are planning to avoid anything on the Amalfi Coast over the weekend etc but not sure what to expect in the hotels in terms of dress code that time of the year. We are normally in nice Summer wear ! Help (Staying at a nice 4 star hotel --- Grand Hotel de La Ville) .
  16. No champagne ????? Hope you had / are having a great birthday celebration ! You kept that quiet ... not secret any more 😉
  17. It was called Enotica by L'uva -- on a bridge we can't remember the name of but near to the Radisson hotel. It was a lovely small place 🙂 Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar York | Enoteca by L’uva (enotecayork.com) You are lucky to be so close ---- we had a fantastic time and are still having withdrawal symptoms!!!!
  18. PS We were trying to add Sharon that we hope it is ok to post this here, but as it is on TripAdvisor we thought it would be ok. For some reason we have some issues posting
  19. Hi, I think it is ok to say that we stayed at the Park Inn by Radisson York and the restaurant we ate at was the Enotica by L'uva. If you check them out on Tripadvisor you will see our reviews under our Presto2 username and lots of photos. The hotel was fabulous but you have to remember that it is currently just finishing its upgrade in March. The bar area is still having a refurb and the reception area is next. To be honest the standard rooms with a river view are amazing and the location was faultless. There was secure parking --- and we mean secure. You had to have a card to get in and out. It was £15 per night though but as we had used our Radisson points to pay for the hotel it was not an issue. Any questions just ask ---- we would recommend this place 100% and have had an amazing time. PS Because of the refurbishment it is now moving to a Radisson brand not a Park Inn and a 4 star so take some previous reviews with a pinch of salt
  20. Well we have just returned from a short break in the beautiful city of York. The whole stay, hotel and Italian restaurant we found, included in that statement. If you are on here and live anywhere near this beautiful city you are very lucky indeed. Have never been before and it certainly will not be our last visit. We had a great cruise down the river and we enjoyed our aft view from our seats 😉
  21. Perhaps we had a one off bad experience with BA. Having said that it coincided with a terrible experience a friend had with them the same summer. Perhaps it was a bad year ....
  22. We've just checked and the prices have dropped. When we added it up though once we had knocked off the deposit loss we would save about £200, but am worried that if we cancel and then try to rebook we may not be able to have the upgrade seats we managed to get. Not sure if it is worth the risk, Good prices though now for anyone who is booking now !!!!!
