Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. When I sailed out of Norfolk in June of 2002 on the Triumph there was no cruise terminal. Security screening was done on the pier. Once I boarded the ship, I was directed to go the main show lounge to be checked in.
  2. Are you sure about the cruise date and length? The Imagination was sailing out of Miami. There was a 5-night sailing that left on July 12 that went to Calica / Cancun and Grand Cayman. The next sailing was a 5-night that left on July 17 that went to Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman.
  3. Even if the dividends are reinvested, you will still receive a 1099-DIV if they are held in a nonretirement account.
  4. If the shares were purchased before the middle of December of 2019, you would have received a dividend check in January 2020. As a result of receiving the dividend check you would have been mailed a form 1099-DIV in January 2021 with the information to put on your 2020 federal tax return. The 1099-DIV should have the name of who the shares are held by and the account number.
  5. I have most (if not all) of Carnival's brochures from 1994 through 2008 - when they stopped printing them.
  6. 10/27/2000 San Diego depart 4:00 P.M. 10/28/2000 At sea 10/29/2000 At sea 10/30/2000 Puerto Vallarta 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. 10/31/2000 Zihuatanejo / Ixtapa 12:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. 11/01/2000 Acapulco 6:00 A.M. - overnight 11/02/2000 Acapulco depart 5:00 P.M. 11/03/2000 At sea 11/04/2000 At sea 11/05/2000 Puntarenas, Costa Rico 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. 11/06/2000 At sea 11/07/2000 Panama Canal transit 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. 11/08/2000 Cartagena, Columbia 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. 11/09/2000 At sea 11/10/2000 Playa del Carmen (for Tulum tours) 1:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. 11/10/2000 Cozumel 2:30 P.M. to 12:00 A.M. 11/11/2000 At Sea 11/12/2000 Key West 6:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. 11/13/2000 Tampa arrive 8:00 A.M.
  7. The August 18,2007 sailing was a Saturday sailing. The itinerary was: Mobile - depart 4:00 P.M. At sea Costa Maya 12:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Cozumel 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. At sea Mobile - arrive 8:00 A.M.
  8. According to the press release Jay Leno is currently the producer and host of Jay Leno's Garage. I thought CNBC cancelled the show 3 or 4 months ago (around the time of his accident while working on one of his cars).
  9. > Carnival Corp has fewer ships post-Covid but there are the same or more cruise ports. Princess sails from Fort Lauderdale. Carnival sails from Miami. Almost a suburb. No need for Carnival Brands to compete against each other. If Carnival brands shouldn't compete against each other then why did then for so long in Port Everglades (seasonally at least 15 years) - with some years competing with HAL, PCL, and Costa Some years instead of Costa sailing out of Port Everglades they would sail out of Miami competing with Carnival. How come Carnival brands continue to compete against each other in Alaska? Last time I checked Carnival Cruise Line, HAL, and PCL all sail out Seattle. When Carnival first started doing Alaska they competed against HAL, and PCL out of Vancouver - sometimes roundtrip and sometimes 1 way Vancouver to Seward (Anchorage) and reverse.
  10. Carnival Cruise Line is the worldwide leader in abandoning ports. Ports that Carnival has abandoned include: 1) San Diego – The Spirit used to spend the winter doing 8-day cruises out of San Diego. At one point the Elation used to do 4- and 5-day cruises year-round. Carnival then left and was supposed to send the Miracle to do cruises in the winter that has never happened. 2) Mobile – After sailing from the port for maybe 8 to 10 years they left. They then came back before leaving again last fall. By the time they return this fall it will be around 1 year since there last sailing in Mobile. 3) Port Everglades – Before Covid they had a ship homeported at least during the winter. During cruising shut down they left and to the best of my knowledge they have not announced any plans to return. 4) Norfolk – The year that either the Vista or Horizon entered service there were no sailings. After this year’s sailings on the Magic there are no plans to return until May(?) 2025 when the Sunshine is homeported there. 5) San Juan - heading into Covid they had a ship homeported In San Juan. To the best of my knowledge there are no plans to return. When Carnival has had a ship in San Juan, they have done dual homeporting for the sailings by allowing people to begin and end their cruise in Barbados. Given that Carnival no longer sails from San Juan it means they have also abandoned Barbados as a homeport.
  11. Carnival used to do alternating itineraries out of San Juan. From November 7,1999 through September 10,2000, they were done on the Inspiration and from September 17,2000 through at least the end of 2002 on the Destiny. The itineraries were: Dutch Treat - that went to St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Curacao and Aruba. European Delight - that went to St. Thomas, Antigua, Guadeloupe and Aruba.
  12. The Ecstasy was doing 3- and 4-day sailings. The 3-day cruises left on February 1, 8, 15, and 22 and went to Ensenada. The 4 -day cruises left on February 4, 11, 18, and 25 and went to Catalina Island and Ensenada. The Elation was doing 7-day sailings that left on February 3, 10, 17, and 24 and went to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas.
  13. I did ask to be moved to a different table, but they did not move me to another table.
  14. I don't check Carnival's web site for the current wording as I haven't sailed with them for a long time. When the current program was announced in 2012 it said, "guaranteed reservations" and not mealtime. That same wording was used in the prior program when Platinum was the highest level. Guaranteed reservations should mean both mealtime and table size. I would request Late seating at a table for 8 - which should be an indication that I wanted tablemates. Most of the sailings when I should l have received guaranteed dining reservations, I was assigned either a table for 2 or a table / booth for 4 without tablemates.
  15. During embarkation day dinner I talked to either the Maitre'd or assistant Maitre'd snd was told they would work on it - than nothing. Neither one ever came to the table to let us know about the new dining reservation, no letter / business card left in the cabin and no phone call.
