  1. Some say....if you booked ES...NO NAME CHANGE ALLOWED...some say...YES....anybody know what it is?

Regardless of their published rules, Carnival routinely allows name changes on Early Saver bookings - for a $50 fee.

I’ve done it as have thousands of others.

  2. I've searched so many threads for this and get several different answers so maybe someone can answer this based on their definitive experience. BF and I have a cruise booked for December 2018. We've never done FTTF before but probably because they didn't have it at the time of our last sailings. Now that we're a little older we would love to walk on the ship a little early and avoid some crowds. This combined with the debarkation aspect of it and the dining priority are worth the $$ to us. So with that my question is this:

The December FTTF is Sold Out already! It has been since the day I booked (a few weeks ago). I have been checking religiously every day. Is it true that they won't even open it until a few months out? Or is it truly sold out and will it randomly open up again if people cancel or they decide to allow more?

    Any help is appreciated! :)

The best answer you're gonna get is likely the same answer you've seen in all the threads you've browsed.

No way for anyone here to know if Carnival will offer additional FTTF slots.

Check around final payment date in case someone with FTTF decides to cancel their cruise before final payment is due.

  3. Water is about the only thing for sale on the ship that is reasonable priced. I'd suggest getting a 12 pack ordered before the cruise and you won't need to have it delivered and pay through room service.

It's pretty ridiculous that you can order any drink < $50 though cheers, but you can't order a $5 twelve-pack of water for your room with it.

Add that to the long list of reasons I would not buy cheers.

    Uhh - wrong thread ??

  4. internet service. John H said the Vista was the first ship to be installed with a new high tech and extremely fast internet services as the others will be suited with the same in the coming months.

Suppose to be as good as home.

Anyone use the internet on the Vista in the past few weeks?

Never gonna happen with satellite based internet.

  5. I have a dilemma. I have $50 OBC due to a price drop. There is now another drop of $42 but I lose the $50 OBC. What would you do?

Humm, a dilemma ? ..... they must use a different type of math in Maryland than the math I learned.

Wait, isn’t Washington, DC adjacent to Maryland ? Ah, that explains it.

  6. I just changed my June cruise this weekend. They transferred 100% of my non refundable deposit to the new cruise. They told me just a $50 admin fee per person would be assessed. I told them it seemed unfair, and she immediately cancelled the fees, so I did not have to pay it. Easy Peasy.... I did switch to a more expensive cruise though, so having her cancel that fee was probably easier because of that.

I have been able to move non-refundable Early Saver cruise reservation to a different cruise, but never have I gotten them to drop the $50 per person fee.

  7. You can select your check-in time, not your boarding time. If you do your online check-in, you can select a check-in time. If you don't select a time, Carnival will assign you a check-in time.

Boarding time is dependent on several factors that can cause it to happen sooner or later.

You do not have to be paid in full to select your check-in time.

You do have to be paid in full to print your boarding passes which will show your chosen or assigned check-in time, not a boarding time.

  8. I heard that it is OK to just bring a photocopy of your passport to shore for cruise stops. Is that correct?

Ouch - here we go with the "Passport Paranoia" again. Some even have the paranoia about loosing their Xerox copy of their passport.

Some ports require your Sign & Sail card plus photo ID to get back on the ship. A passport is not required to get back on the ship.

That said, those of us who do not suffer from passport paranoia have carried our passports on our person all over the world. Those with the paranoia MUST keep their passports locked in the cabin safe.

  9. Posts #2 and Post #6 DID address and answer the OP's questions. If an OP gets the specific information they asked about I'm not sure why you felt the need to be so curt :( or why people discussing other aspects of the question is a problem. In most threads a the OP gets what they asked in the first 10 posts then things get more general on the topic.

If one is interested in more than the actual "answer" then they can read on or participate - if not they can skip that thread in the future. I'm pretty sure if there was NOT some additional chit-chat about topics that experienced cruisers would probably not frequent the site. Then who would answer all the Cheers, YTD vs Fixed, dress code, FTTF, and arrival appointment questions over and over?? :D

Where is the “Like” button :p

  10. Many have written here that guarantee cabins are sometimes not assigned until you show up at the ship.

Honestly speaking, you are going to get one of the cabins no one else wanted.

Since you agreed to give up cabin choice for lower cost, if you feel "downgraded", you are getting what you signed on for.

That said, hope you get a cabin that is satisfactory to you.

  11. Had the threadstarter NOT gone to guest services with his credit card, this would not have happened.

On the last night of the cruise, Carnival would have just charged the full amount to the threadstarter's credit card.

The threadstarter created the problem by duplicating the charges - in other words, what was the purpose of an interim visit to guest services to "pay down" the bill with the same credit card where the final charge was going to be made.

  12. I am wondering if you can use the small suitcase that comes with a 3 piece luggage set as your carry on. It would be on rollers and that would make it so much easier for me to handle. If this is okay, would I be able to put a bottle of wine in it. Thank you in advance for your answers.

Carnival does not care what size luggage you use as long as it fits thru the scanner (yours will).

Some cruisers carry every piece of their luggage onto the ship (not me as I am not paranoid)

  13. Hi! I've never got trip insurance before ... but now my job is telling me they won't approve my vacation time until 30 days before the trip ... which is not good since final payment is 90 days before the trip. UGH. So now I have to get trip insurance in case I have to cancel a month out.

I know I would need the "Cancel for any reason" type insurance but my question is ... I am single and share my cabin with a buddy - typically I pay for all or part of my buddy's cruise fare as I can afford to do that.

    Here are my questions:

    1. Would I have to get 2 insurance policies??? ....one for my fare and one for his? Or could I insure the whole trip as long as I can prove I paid the whole balance (for double occupancy) on my credit card?

    2. Will this insurance also cover other non-refundable things like airfare, and pre-paid car rental and pre-post cruise hotels?

    3. How difficult is it to successfully collect a claim?

Any help or opinions would be very appreciated!

You buy 1 policy to cover 2 people, just list names & ages.

Different policies have different coverages - buy a policy that has coverage for everything that you are concerned about.

  14. I have heard that people were able to get the FCC applied towards the new deposit if they did it all in the same phone call. But I don’t have any experience with that firsthand.

Yes, after paying Carnival the $50 per person penalty, my PVP applied the remainder to the deposit on the cruise I changed to.

  15. So if I make sure what I bring is only 2-pronged then it will be okay since it's not surge protected? I don't get how the cruise lines think everyone is supposed to keep their electronics charged. Also, what about medical necessities such as a C-pap? I am concerned that I will bring the wrong thing and it will be confiscated or it won't fit depending how the outlet is configured. Do they sell anything on the ship that can be used?

Bring a power strip that does not have a surge protector.

No reason Carnival would confiscate it.

No reason to worry about it.

  16. Honestly didn't know it did. Mine's about 3-4 years old, so maybe they didn't back then? I'm certainly not trying to intentionally break rules, I'm just saying we've never heard any complaints or requests to stop using it.

It says SurgePlus right in the link you posted

Threadstarter: seems you are over-thinking this. ANY power strip without a surge protector will work fine. I’m sure cruisers are using all sorts of different makes and models.

  17. I could be wrong, but I think you have to pay in full before you can book excursions. That is how it was on my May sailing out of Puerto Rico. It kept saying what you see and then when I did final payment, it opened them all up.

Nope, this is incorrect. Carnival will take your $$$ as soon as your cruise is booked (depending on how far out your cruise is)

Excursions generally show up for purchase about 9-12 months before your cruise. If you cruise is sooner than that, try from a different computer.
