  1. Halfacts.com has info on 1121, but not 1122: https://halfacts.com/signature-class/1121-eurodam/
  2. Loved that room when we were on her some years ago. I’m glad to hear it is still there.
  3. Possibly Eastern Orthodox? I don’t know any priests who wear long robes. Usually the only tell is the collar and some elect not to wear even that. But back to the the show: Enjoying your report so far@YVRteacher
  4. We usually only get coffee, so we give them a dollar. If we get additional items then $2.
  5. This is what it looks like, except in silver. We are on vacation, so I can’t take a picture of mine. The medallion is held in place magnetically. You can pop it in and out by pushing on it. I actually don’t wear it off ship, just in case. The actual bangle has a hinge on one side that so you can easily open it to remove the bangle. I have heard that AirTag holders will fit the medallion but I haven’t tried this.
  6. Alaska is pretty much sold out this year, so likely next year. We booked last month and were unable to match up the B2 B, so booked HAL.
  7. My understanding is that even though you are booking it as a 14 day, it IS 2 7 day cruises so you’ll receive a credit for each segment.
  8. I did. I don’t remember the price, but I think it was about $65 usd? Not cheap, but we had a lot of Princess cruises planned over the next few years so I felt it was worth it. This was about 2 years ago though. It fits quite snuggly. I’m a small woman with tiny wrists, and I felt the small was a snug. I liked the looser bangle feel of the medium.
  9. We’ve always just picked up at the port as there was no other option for Canadians. It hasn’t delayed us as far as I know in getting on the ship. All medallion accessories that you see are also available on the ship to buy. I actually waited to buy on the ship as mine came in 2 sizes and I wanted to try on first.
  10. You’ve done a great job compiling this so far. I agree 2026 is probably too far off for the ships to have all the dining setups in place. I was the one who reported issues booking Island Princess set dining for March 2026. We were however, able to book open dining at a table for 2 every night, but a bit later than we like. We are elite, but in a guarantee, if that matters at all.
  11. Enjoying following along as we are booked on the Island in 2026 for 54 days. Haven’t been on her in quite a few years but, there are usually nuts in the buffet areas at breakfast time, near the oatmeal. Ask if you don’t see any. We love to keep nuts in our cabin to snack on. We are not drinkers, but we’ve also been able to get some at the bars when asking. YMMV. Also wanted to add: check your top drawer in the desk. Sometimes there is a newer hairdryer in there in addition to the “old” stuck to the wall ones. Additionally, even though your app isn’t working, many of the app functions, like ordering food can be done on your tv. I can’t remember if dining reservations can be done this way, but menus do display.
  12. They should still be giving out tiles on every cruise, not just legendary voyages. Ours are usually left on the bed by the steward. If you don’t get one, go to guest services, or send a message in the navigator app.
  13. I wonder this too, especially since most of the standby cruises leave on Saturdays and Sundays. This seems like a m-f department in Seattle.
  14. Good Morning and thank you to all the dailyites who contribute. I like today’s quote, we don’t eat a lot of fried foods, so probably won’t celebrate the fried chicken. Thongs were something worn on our feet when we were kids, but now have to remember to call them flip flops or you get a strange look. We haven’t been to Newfoundland, but really want to travel back to the Maritimes so hopefully one day! I don’t often post here, but wanted to shout out to @kazu. What a wise and good decision you’ve made! I know it must have been hard. My late mum moved to a beautiful independent living place. Many there had dogs, she had her cat, and there were so many activities that she could participate in or not. DH and I used to comment when visiting her that it was like a cruise on land when we’d see the lovely dining room, puzzle tables, and yes, even a wine evening! Change is always hard, but I think you and Ivan will settle in beautifully. Looking forward to meeting you this fall on Oosterdam!
  15. Good observation @Suncoastsailors. I see what you mean. Below is the breakdown for a one way Alaska this September. I have been watching these sailings (and did end up booking B2B on HAL). I KNOW the taxes/port fees were around $350 cad, and yet they show as much less now at $107 cad. Hmm.
  16. Yes, we have them empty it now too. Ours was also a minibar charge. The last few cruises it has been the room steward who counts the mini bar anyway. It used to be a bar waiter who would go around and do the counts after people had disembarked and this seems to be where issues were.
  17. It sounds like they’ve improved the experience since mine then. Believe me, I did email, etc and started calling when they went unanswered. I also hate calling places. I personally would still not leave any billing issues until after disembarkation. My ordeal still leaves a sour taste.
  18. It looks like you and I are giving two different answers at the same time, lol. Mine is just based in my experience a year or so ago, which involved multiple calls, them emailing to the ship, being told after all that it was resolved and found that I was wrong(?!), and finally a complaint to a contact found in Elliott.org that got me my $30 back.
  19. By all means, billing errors MUST be corrected while on the ship. It is very hard to get any type of resolution after the cruise these days. My experience recently getting a $30 minibar error corrected was an exercise in frustration. Nothing like the past when a simple phone call had things happily corrected.
  20. If a choice between these 2, go with the Panama Canal. It is best suited to a cruise, weather will be warmer, etc. We have also cruised to Hawaii and done land trips there, and it is best suited to land trips. It’s always a little bittersweet on a cruise as we want to stay. You will also have some cool sea days on the way there.
  21. Discovery looks like it will be there (Coastal repo to YVR already in schedule), Ruby is in SF so likely doing Alaska from there again, but that’s a guess.
  22. Sorry that your cruise didn’t turn out the way you had hoped. I know that when you are still in the stage of life where you are raising children, working, etc, a cruise can be the one big vacation a year, and you want it to be everything. Many of us here are past that stage and forget this. We cruise on a few lines and I do find HAL’s customer service often to be the most lacking and I agree there is a “customer is always wrong” attitude at times. But, we’ve also been pleasantly surprised at times. It varies ship to ship, and cruise to cruise. Regarding the spa charges, did you have to sign a bill at the end? Was it correct? I have found errors in the spa (on HAL and other lines) when signing and had them corrected at that time. Cruising on mass market lines is not the experience it once was, and I do cringe a bit when I hear of people spending so much money on a cruise vacation as the expectations will be relative to what you pay. Regarding others getting “comped”, yes, “some” will have been but likely spent a lot in the casino for that privilege. Those who didn’t are few and far between, and I take what others say with a grain of salt. Comps also have conditions that are not suitable for a pre planned family vacation. I know you were very disappointed, but I am not sure what more the ship could have offered you since the issues were resolved, although poorly. Did you have something in mind? What did you want them to do for you? Perhaps if you had given them an idea of what you wanted? I am calling BS on the person who said they got $1000 by the way. You likely won’t hear anything from your emails. CS everywhere is just so bad now, and especially at the cruise lines. HAL isn’t alone in this. If you really want something from HAL, go to Elliott.org and you will find the email addresses of the top brass. You will get a response from them, but be warned they will likely give you a future cruise credit of some sort. You won’t receive any money back if that’s what you’re hoping for.
  23. For our cruise on the Island Princess, Provence is showing bookable every 20 minutes, and Bordeaux has no times and nothing available, so the opposite. We are not sailing until 2026 though.
  24. We are also booked on this cruise. If it is a sale scenario, then I would cancel. Too depressing. However, Alaska for 2026 and spring coastal repositioning are not showing yet for any ships except Discovery Princess. Island is likely heading to Alaska.
  25. We don’t like attention for special occasions so we never say anything, but we will happily clap for those nearby celebrating during our meal. I don’t see the problem with this at all. For many people the cruise is taken to celebrate a special milestone, it could be a once in a lifetime, or even once a year event for them and a very special time. Good for them, I say.
