I won't be paying any upcharge out of principle. Maybe if enough people do that, Celebrity will get the message. I do remember that in March, on Beyond, we won an upgrade to Retreat level. We still had to pay the upcharge at WCB for the Old Fashion although no upcharge at Luminae or Blu for any wine and I always got higher priced bourbon without an upcharge.

1. There really is no formal nights but you certainly can wear formal. Even on the dressiest nights, the majority of people are in nothing more than nice slacks/pants and top. There will be some people in gowns and tuxes but they are in the minority. 2. You don't need wifi to watch tv but there are not a lot of options. As far as access to your premium channels, I don't know because I have never tried.

I do but missed that. Still would like a few more choices. Thank you my NoVA neighbor. I guess asking for a Sancerre would be asking too much

Not even a Sauvignon Blanc on the Luminae list. To me, the upcharge or lack of choices at the premium package rate is not about the extra cost, it's the principle.

We did Coco Cay last spring on a RCCL cruise. We really enjoyed it. We did get a cabana because there were 11 of us and that was special but I would definitely go back and use the free loungers

I don't think you can order from the main dining room on the E-class ships because the dining rooms are not near each other. On the other ships you can because they are closer.

The problem with asking others what the price is and what's available is that it is a moving target. We were on Beyond in March and the wine was different at every bar and the Retreat. It was the same with Bourbon. Sometimes I could get Buffalo Trace, occasionally Angel's Envy and sometimes neither.

Doesn't always guarantee no issues although it does help. My TA paid my final bill but it didn't go through and neither the TA or I were notified. Also didn't get a notice from AmEX. The whole cruise was cancelled. Fortunately, she was able to get everything straightened out at no additional cost.

Has anyone looked behind the bed? On the Beyond we had outlets there. Difficult to access but gave us extra outlets.

I didn't find HAL much quieter than Celebrity and I loved the Blues lounge. I also didn't realize HAL was more expensive than Celebrity. It wasn't when we were on it.

How are they taking advantage of you? Eden is an option that you don't have to choose.

Not sure what "loss" you feel you are suffering because you are not the first on the ship. What difference were you expecting on the maiden voyage from any other?

Your room steward will take your hanging clothes and packed suitcases to the new cabin if you can't get the same cabin. It's not a difficult thing to do. One suggestion. If they are different categories, do the lower category on the first leg.

We didn't have a time and got there around 11:00 and were escorted to the Retreat area. Great food and drinks while you wait to board. Worth getting there early just to hang there.

I think one of the issues for Zach's cruise was that it was the Reflection and not one of the new ships that is better suited for Retreat. I feel like the older ships are adding Retreat to give another level but the ships don't lend themselves to it (for example, the bathrooms are so much nicer on the E class ships) We were on the Beyond in January and felt the Retreat was special and worth every extra $$. We had a butler but never used him. It never occurred to me to have someone unpack or pack for me. We loved the separate pool, the Retreat Lounge and the service we received. The Embarkation lounge for Retreat travelers was also terrific. We used the Retreat Lounge staff for all of our needs and they were happy to accommodate. We are going on the Ascent in January so it will be an opportunity to see if the changes are really significant or if some people just have higher expectations than I do.

Another vote for Murano. We think it is much nicer than Tuscan

We enjoy the Sunset Bar for an outdoor space. We were recently on the Oasis but usually sail on Celebrity. I think you will find it a lot calmer. We are on the Ascent in January. Our favorite bar is the World Class Bar.

Great meal. Too much food but no one says you have to eat it all. 🙂

Too bad you didn't just change your reservation because of the wind. We did and just went another time.

It sounds like they paid what they were told it would cost including the AI. If that's the price they were given, they shouldn't be expected to make up for an error made by the TA who didn't realize the price they quoted didn't include AI

We were in Retreat in January and ate at Blu three nights. No reservations and no waiting.
