  1. Just back from 2 weeks in Japan - 8 night cruise plus extra time in Tokyo. We rented a pocket wifi device from a company found here on cc. Cruise Port Navigation With exchange to CAD it was about $75 for 15 days with unlimited data. The device was delivered to our Yokohama hotel precruise. We used it in our Japan ports and post cruise in Tokyo. It came with a return envelope, so we were able to drop it in a mailbox at Narita before our flight home yesterday. Very easy to use & worked for both iphones. Wifi is available in various locations, but if you are using apps to navigate the trains & subways plus other maps then the pocket wifi device is very convenient. Recommend using maps.me, Rome2rio & Tokyo Subway apps.
  2. Just disembarked Diamond. There is a free bus shuttle to Sakuragicho station, but any other transportation looks like pre-arranged or taxi. We did the free shuttle & will be taking the train/ subway into Shinjuku to our airbnb apartment. There’s an app called Rome2rio that is working very nicely for train/subway/bus info. We also booked a pocket wifi device to use - works great with our iphones.
  3. We’re in Yokohama now. Staying tonight at the Hotel JAL. Basic double room for two was 9500 yen or about $113 CAD. Small, basic but it’s only one night! We flew to Haneda Airport in Yokohama instead of Narita. The ticket counter for the bus was just outside the final customs/immigration stop. Bus tickets were 1440 yen about $18 CAD for 2. It was about a 25 minute drive to our stop which was Osenbashi Pier. Our hotel was a 10 minute walk away from the pier. Closer to Chinatown. Heading to Chinatown soon for dinner. We board Diamond Princess tomorrow.
  4. I received the offer this morning in an email. We have an inside for the Feb 14th sailing - booked long before the prices went up. Schedules don't work for us & I agree the offer isn't that exciting. Ruby Princess! !!EXTEND YOUR VACATION 3 days for FREE!! Princess is extending a special offer to guests booked on the February 14 2019 sailing of the Ruby Princess. Move to THE ROYAL PRINCESS: April 06, April, 13, or April 20 and receive: * 3 EXTRA CRUISE DAYS * Enjoy upgraded accommodations in your private balcony (Categories DV-BY) * Air change fees will be honored up to $150 per person * EZ AIR Protected 100%
  5. The 2 port day is to accommodate tours to the pyramids. Get off at the first & get back on at the second. We’re looking at one of the other excursions for that day that includes the pyramids & the Nile. The menu was more international than greek, but it was quite good. We’re booking for March 2020 - just waiting for spring break dates to be confirmed. Yeah we’re stuck travelling during spring break due to me working in education. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. We did Cuba last year (March 2017) on Celestyal Crystal. Great cruise!! Good service & food. Our cruise fare included tips, excursions & drink package - really good value. Very international passenger mix - always someone interesting to talk to. All meals are open seating & no specialty restaurants. We had an inside cabin - midship on deck 7. Great central location. We're also looking at their Med 7 night itineraries for 2020.
  7. maps.me free and can be used offline once you download the maps you need you can also bookmark locations I've used it locally - Pacific Northwest, Las Vegas, Cuba & Europe will be using it next year in Japan - already bookmarking important locations
  8. We made elite in 14 cruises & 46 nights thanks to our one night getaways! Didn't originally have that plan, but when the opportunity to reach elite before a longer (21 night B2B) became possible we took advantage. Currently at 27 credits for 25 cruises & 75 days - and a few more booked. We still do the one-nighters when they fit our schedule - fun night out & now we are moving up the line in loyalty OBC. Princess gives each of us the loyalty OBC apparently because DH & I use different last names. We were not expecting this since we read on CC it was one per married couple. Used our Princess Elite status with MSC's status match deal to get Black Card level on our cruise in March. We're just following their rules. Sometimes they work in your favour & sometimes not....
  9. May 10/ 2019 is a Friday boarding - I like these since we can spend an extra night in the Seattle area and take the train home Sunday eve.:D Princess has usually scheduled the one nighters for Fri/Sat/or Sun boarding. I don't mind taking Friday or Monday off if needed but I can't do 2 days off together. I've looked at HAL a few times but often the dates are mid week and the port charges are crazy high $65+! Even I have a budget limit for these little cruises!
  10. Look at the schedule for the Seattle Alaska ships & you’ll see they are starting/ending with open jaw sailings. 7 night Alaska cruise Vancouver to Seattle or Seattle to Vancouver. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I had an email yesterday about the schedules & can see to the end of 2019. Maybe check for specific ships - any that are doing Alaska 2019
  12. Actually not that hard to sell because they're usually on or near the weekend & the proximity of Vancouver/Seattle made it easy for locals to book for a quick getaway or a "special night". I think it's probably more about profitability for the company & the hard work for the crew. Two turnaround days in a row! Lots of blue cards, but just as many Platinum & Elite and we get all the included goodies of the loyalty level.
  13. Checked the new schedule release and no more one night Pacific Coastals added :( Love these little getaways! We're booked for Apr 27/18, Sep 23/18 & May 10/19. We were hoping to get at least one for Sep/19. I guess we'll have to see what's added for 2020.
  14. Another question.... We are hoping to use the hop on hop off bus in Heraklion but can’t find current info if it runs in March. Their website indicates the season starts in April & I didn’t get a response to my email. Any info you can find out would be appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
