  1. Yes, at least with US bookings. In essence you are canceling one and creating a new booking. While at a higher fare differential, a refundable deposit allows you to change, modify, or cancel a booking without penalty. Any new booking created will be at its current fare and benefit value, but you will not loose any of your original deposit in doing so.
  2. Please see the response by @highway180 correcting me. I apparently am mistaken about this with Celebrity.
  3. Thanks for clarifying. I know it varies by cruise line and that these policies have changed over time. Apparently I am incorrect regarding this with Celebrity and appreciate the correction. I was going to suggest that they call to confirm - that seems to be the correct approach.
  4. They periodically recategorize the sub-categories in given stateroom categories for pricing purposes.
  5. I believe you both need to be on the same package(s) in order to prevent you both from sharing each one.
  6. To answer your question in our experience you don't need both. But IMO I would be wary of the current AT&T ship plans. In the past we used AT&T with mixed results. Some cruises everything was fine. But on more recent cruises it was a nightmare. Much time spent on the phone with AT&T during the cruise confirming phone settings, function, and mistaken charges that had to be resolved and removed post cruise. Their recent customer service seemed more confused than we were and often had us using settings that resulted in additional charges. They apparently changed the plan at some point and that was when the issues began. IMO never again will we use their ship based plans and in recent years we have used ship wifi calling exclusively with no issues. That will continue to be our plan moving forward. Your results may vary.
  7. Not unlike her sister company RCCL with their Vision and Radiance class ships in particular. Likely nearing the end of their useful life. Their focus is mainly on Oasis and Icon class ships in terms of new builds. Although there does seem to be some traction building regarding the possibility of a new mid-size clean sheet design to replace these older ships.
  8. If you go to the deck plans for the Princess ship(s) you are interested in and hover over the staterooms, a description appears that will include identifying any that are obstructed. But while I completely understand wanting to learn as much as possible about cruising, my suggestion to you, as new to cruising, to talk with a travel agent will be of great assistance in distinguishing the differences between the cruise lines, itineraries, fare structures, etc., and will help clear the path for what would work best for you. JMO. BTW, we have been cruising for 32 years with 50+ cruises and still use a TA. We find their service to be very beneficial, which is why I always suggest this to new cruisers in particular.
  9. Better not have disappeared as we are on the 6/23 sailing - LOL. May be repricing the remaining staterooms.
  10. Voucher(s) are required for the discounts on wine bottle purchases. To the OP any C & A discounts or benefits for alcohol, specialty coffees, etc., can be used at any restaurant.
  11. Which is why one is as heavily regulated as it is.
  12. There is no change fee with a refundable deposit booking.
  13. My one recommendation would be to talk with a live travel agent who specializes in cruises and review your overall plans, expectations, and budget with them as they would be in the best position to sort out all of the options and make the best recommendations that would work best with you.
  14. I don't know whether or not it is going into drydock then, but if it is it would likely be a scheduled maintenance drydock based on the timeframe you reference. Cruise ships generally enter these maintenance drydocks about every 5 years for routine maintenance and general cosmetic improvements. Refurbishments typically take longer which is why I wouldn't suspect that.
  15. ....or maybe have designated perfume areas - LOL. I understand that strong perfumes can be equally annoying as cigarette smoke, but as you have aptly pointed out the two are by no means related. I get it with allergies, etc., but perfumes are not a documented health risk with well understood regulated guidelines regarding its use. That all being said as well pointed out there are designated smoking areas for those who wish to smoke.
  16. ....a reflection of our cruising style - LOL.
  17. Pending means just that, and no decision has been made on your bid in consideration with others. The awards can still be made prior to your sailing date. That being said, unless you had an aggressive bid that would be the highest in consideration, the likelihood is it will be ultimately rejected.
  18. RCCL doesn't care about common addresses on a booking, but Crown and Anchor does for benefits. Each would have to set up their own C & A account (in this case just the friend) and their accounts linked as significant others by a common address, as mentioned in my first response.
  19. They must also share the same address on the booking.
  20. In order to share benefits, you would need to be linked together via Crown and Anchor on the booking as a spouse or partner sharing the same address. But otherwise the answer is no, unless on their own as correctly pointed out by @BND.
  21. I only checked a standard booking for that sailing and my discount was available. Higher by my benefit amount without it included. (Unless you are booking through a TA you would not have fares other than standard through the website).
  22. The pullman beds will handle adults and are comfortable. I have slept in them in the past when our family was young. They are certainly more comfortable than the sofa bed. Housekeeping will make each bed each day including the Pullmans. You may also want to consider a family stateroom that can handle up to 6 in the standard twin / king bed arrangement along with a sofa bed and two bunk beds in a separate area. We have also used this for our family and I have experience sleeping in the bunk bed, which was also fine. This category is a standard category, not a suite category, and while being a higher fare is significantly larger and well suited to 4+ people. I would contact a travel agent with this request as you want to be certain that the correct room configuration is selected for your requirements. This would also be necessary to book the family stateroom as that can only be booked by calling the cruise line directly or through a TA.
  23. I'm glad this was made clear to the OP as it is not a glitch and, in our experience, you have always needed to contact the cruise line or a TA with bookings of more than 4 in a stateroom.
