  1. When we drive to the departure port we often bring home extras as well. 10 coupons per day can travel far.....
  2. I understand that the ship and cruise line play an important part in this decision, but what other than where the ship is going would one normally consider? Choosing a cruise based on one or maybe two ports of call in an itinerary can lead to disappointment, but IMO the overall itinerary is certainly a primary reason to choose a given cruise.
  3. Yes. The account will be in one name but is neutral to the devices using it as long as there are not more than any two signed in at once. In other words multiple devices can be used as long as only two are signed in at a time. We do something similar by purchasing one plan for a single device for the two of us and just switch back and forth with whichever device is being used at the time.
  4. You can also use your coupons for unopened canned and other contained beverages (beer, Truly, soda, water) to take and keep in your refrigerator in your stateroom. We do that with unused coupons frequently as they expire daily. Nice on our balcony from time to time without having to go to a bar to get them.
  5. AT D+ we have 5 and as they are combinable (I can use mine for her and visa versa) the 10 total drinks is enough for us that we never buy the package. Cheaper for us to buy additional drinks a la carte. Enjoy your cruise!
  6. Unfortunately port cancelations are a fact of the cruising world and are often caused by circumstances out of control of the cruise lines when those decisions are made. Even with developing situations as they unfold in different parts of the world it is very difficult to predict far in advance what would result that may cause a cancelation. They would be using the same crystal ball in their determination as you would. If you feel uncertain and it is still prior to final payment and you can cancel with limited or no penalty, that would be your option to exercise. But the cruise line will likely hold out on any decision to cancel ports of call (or itineraries) until the last possible moment as that decision is far more reaching in complexity and consequences than an individual decision to cancel. Unfortunately it sometimes comes down to a roll of the dice.
  7. As it should be! Each of us is different and should each dance to the beat of a different drum.
  8. As mentioned, we have cruised with the one couple, who we met on a cruise and with whom have become good friends, a half dozen times or so, with as indicated, two more planned. We live 150 miles or so apart but also get together back on land once or twice a year as well. But I guess the point being it is by choice. On board we don't expect to do anything together - we do it because we want to. We enjoy dinners together and socializing in the evenings. But when we cruise together we are not joined at the hip and do a number of things on board and in port independently. There are no feelings hurt if at any given time one couple or the other changes their mind or has a different plan. We get along well and maintain this relationship because we are good friends. We have occasionally cruised similarly as well with other of our friends. To us this is an easy concept that works well when we cruise with our friends. But also as mentioned we cruise more times than not by ourselves and also enjoy those experiences together as a couple.
  9. We do enjoy cruising and travel, but four in six months would be a bit of a stretch! Enjoy yourself as well.
  10. I believe you misread - four between now and October '25 - that would be four cruises in eighteen months. And we are rather social at home.
  11. While it is close to those areas as you mention, I believe there is a hallway separating the staterooms from the lobby areas by the MDR and elevator banks. I do not believe your stateroom opens into that area and the traffic will not be in your hallway. Perhaps others can confirm.
  12. With a GTY booking, once your stateroom is assigned you can have it moved to a different location within the assigned sub-category based on availability if you want. Depending on how you booked originally, RCCL or your TA will advise as to what staterooms are available and where they are for your to choose. You do not go back into the GTY to have RCCL assign again in order to change locations. Have done this a few times in the past.
  13. We travel both ways and they are equally enjoyable to us. We have cruised with several couples at once as well as well as with one or two couples together. But we have one couple that we cruise with rather frequently (in fact we met them on a cruise a number of years ago and became good friends on land as well). When we occasionally have different interests in port they do their thing and we do ours. But we always get together for dinner and our evening activities. The rest of the time we cruise by ourselves. We have four cruises planned (three booked) between now and October '25, two with them and two alone.
  14. As mentioned, the Solarium (on all RCCL ships) is adults only. You pay for no venues on RCCL as they are all complimentary, although suite guests have private areas dedicated to them. As Diamond, you will also have access to the Crown Lounge on deck four for bar service and hours d'oeuvres nightly during the cocktail hours. You also will have 4 complimentary drink coupons loaded on your SeaPass card daily for use in the Crown Lounge or anywhere else, anytime, on the ship except the Bionic Bar. There are two outside bars on the ship - Lime and Coconut (on decks 14 & 15) and Solarium Bar (not outdoor but part of the Solarium). Here's a list of the bars on Odyssey: BIONIC BAR BOLEROS CROWN & COMPASS SCHOONER BAR SOLARIUM BAR THE LIME & COCONUT
  15. It varies by ship and cruise line as different ships are designed with different venues that may accommodate a NYE party differently. And the cruising atmosphere differs from cruise line to cruise line. But in our experience they are typically outdoors, often on the pool or other similar deck. They also can be indoors, for instance on RCCL Oasis class (and similar) ships, with an indoor promenade that works well for this. They are usually a lot of fun and our experience with Celebrity included them providing a fair amount of complimentary champagne as the hour drew near. Never seen anyone jumping into pools with their clothes on as most parties, while active and a good time, are a little more refined and have not been that crazy. At least not in our experience on RCCL and Celebrity. Maybe other lines.........

  17. Agree with your comments. To add, some of the ships (Oasis class for one) have converted (or are converting) what once was the original Jazz Club to a small non-smoking casino.

  19. Most of the sailings in January are indicating waitlisting for several balcony categories and the ones that are most available are the D category. However, depending on sailing date, there is availability on decks other than 6 if that matters. Contact RCCL or your TA to see what options you may have on your sailing date. That being said, deck six is a great location for the reasons you mention and would not have any negative issues IMO. The staterooms are in a hallway separated from the elevator banks or any other open public areas and noise is not an issue.
  20. Very sorry for your loss. Perhaps if you post this as well on the Celebrity Roll Call board you will get responses from those who sailing on your itinerary. Search the ships and sailing dates to locate your itinerary from the following link. If one doesn't exist for your planned sailing date you could start one: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/127-celebrity-roll-calls/
  21. On that deck being one deck higher I think you will be fine with the location and the view. Enjoy your cruise.
  22. There is a canopy directly below you that is over the balconies below as they are extended out on the deck from your stateroom. This would likely impact you direct downward view if that would be of concern. If you google Celebrity Constellation and click on images and scroll through them you will see pictures that will show what this looks like. You can contact whomever you booked through and ask to be moved to a different location as available within your assigned C2 category if you want to, and if there are other preferred locations available they will move you. There are C2's on deck's 8 & 9 that are forward of that area and would not be affected. I believe they, however, look out over the lifeboat deck.
  23. RCCL is a very good cruise line - just wanted to point out the differences so you were aware. The pricing likely will be lower, and not likely higher, so IMO that should not be an issue. We have 50+ cruises combined with RCCL and Celebrity and still do both, depending on itinerary, ship, and circumstances. Depending on ship class, the ice show and aqua theater shows are very unique and excellently performed and IMO well worth the experience. The cruise lines are just are different animals and its good to know what to expect.
  24. I should add that there is no pricing advantage to booking directly with RCCL. The fares they will offer is consistent with that which is published on their website, and would not reflect any available group fares. In fact, travel agents will typically have access to those non-published group fares that often will be lower. And generally RCCL base cruise fares are lower in our experience than Celebrity, even when compared to standard fares. They also do not offer any option for inclusive benefits such as that with Always. (basic WIFI, classic beverage package). Gratuities, WIFI, and beverage packages are available at a separate charge, which when added may be more comparable to Always.
