Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. It's news to me now because my Carnival cruise in early 2022 did not work this way. But thanks for the valuable reply.
  2. I'm sailing Sunday from Port Canaveral on Magic. We have always showed up at the dock about 10-11am and gotten onto the ship fairly quickly. On Carnival's check-in page, the process seems to have changed. They are asking me to select a check in time, and saying that I won't be allowed to board before that time. I last cruised 11 months ago and this wasn't an issue. Are they really going to hold us back if we show up early? I don't see any way to avoid selecting a time, and the times start in the early afternoon. Thanks in advance for any advice on this.
  3. We'll be in Amber Cove on January 12 with Carnival Magic. We're thinking about doing a 5 hour tour over to Puerto Plata. We are two adults and are looking for two (or more) to split a private van tour with RV Tours. The basic outline is: We will visit the isabel mountain on the cable car, the rum house, the cathedral, the central park, from where you can see our victorian houses that we have around, the street of the umbrellas, the pink Alley, cigar factory where you can also roll, try and buy cigars, san felipe fortress, a factory of organic chocolate and the Amber and Larimar factory where they will explain to you the history and the way of the extraction from the mine of Amber and the Larimar. Hit me up if interested!
  4. Hi, Laszlo. What sailing are you on? We're on the Carnival Magic leaving 1-8 and are looking for 2 to join us on a Puerto Plata tour. Hit me up if interested.

    Thanks for this!
  6. Because people still search and read old posts to find the info they need, as I did.
  7. That might have been true 2017, but is no longer the case. Carnival Celebration, Carnival Jubilee and Mardi Gras do not have washers and dryers but have ironing rooms on several stateroom decks as well as Valet Laundry service. Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Venezia do not have washers, dryers nor ironing rooms but do offer Valet Laundry service.
  8. We'll be first timers in Grand Turk next week and have decided to forego a car/kart rental and just taxi to a nice beach that's relatively easy to get to from the port. Our definition of "nice" would be: sandy beach with some shallow water to play in restrooms and a place we could buy a drink, water, Coke, etc. easy access to a taxi back to the port when time is up. some shade would be nice, but isn't mandatory. I've considered Governor's beach and also English Point beach or something in that area. Does anyone have any input on those beaches, or better recommendations? Thanks in advance!
  9. I'm headed there also so I've looked into this and can confirm. They require two covid shots for Moderna / Pfizer, or just one if you had J&J. Booster is not required. Now whether they will actually check....who knows. But your white card with vaccinations written on it is all the proof you need.
  10. How is that beach to the right? We are debating whether to do a cart rental or just have a beach day.
  11. Does anyone have any recent experience with Rasco Rentals golf carts in Grand Turk? I e-mailed them and they had a lot of difficulty communicating in English. They finally agreed to make a reservation for me with cash due at time of rental, no credit card. I'm just wondering how reliable the company has been. Thanks in advance.
  12. Refund policy is also unclear! I hesitate to book with them not knowing what that policy is.
  13. We're sailing on Carnival Magic next month out of Port Canaveral. With the recent changes in dining, I'm wondering what time Carnival stops serving in the Lido buffet these days? We aren't midnight diners, but we do like to wander down there after the traditional dinner time. Thanks in advance.
  14. I'll be sailing next month on Carnival Magic. I was under the impression that Cucina del Capitano was free for lunch, but Carnival's website is showing it as added fee. Does anyone have recent experience and would be willing to shed some light on this? Thanks in advance!
