  1. The Nova is a ship we may consider for Alaska. Only thing holding me back is their dressy dress code. Since you’re aboard her now, I have a couple questions, if you don’t mind. Are there any public restrooms for the ada person only (I often accompany my husband into the restroom)? What is the restroom situation like in the spa area? Thank you
  2. The newer Oceania ships are adequate for someone in a wheel (but not their older ships). Have you considered Viking? We find they are the most wheelchair friendly, but we haven’t cruised with RSSC. We loved their walk around deck. Also their automatic, ada public bathroom.
  3. Since it is early in the season, probably good to wait for more last minute type of deal. We’re flexible. I did put a hold on a Regent cruise. But think I’ll cancel. Although I’ve wanted to give them a try, it’s hard to justify the cost when we really don’t take advantage of alcohol and excursions (But coffee? Definitely yes). We know the Holland product and they do Alaska so well.
  4. Looking at the May, Alaska cruises out of Vancouver. 14 nights. And all the veranda cabins and up are booked solid. Is it simply to early to book?
  5. Thank you. That May cruise seems a tad early (weather-wise) But after cruising this past June (Oceania), May would certainly be less crowded in the ports. June was a zoo. Nice job scoring a great sale.
  6. We’re on a land trip right now. During my ‘off’ time, I’ve been reading about Alaska cruises, and I’m leaning heavily towards the 14 night Regent cruises. However, we don’t want to book until we return home. So, of course, the current sale will be over. Curious if this sale is a good one? Can we expect to see similar or better sales within the next few months? I suppose we could put a deposit down before this sale ends, but I’d rather wait a bit. Thank you!
  7. Debating between a few cruiselines (Seabourn, Regent, Crystal). Which line would we find an older demographic? Thank you!
  8. How financially secure is Crystal under new ownership? We’d like to book a July, Alaska cruise, but I’m hesitant. How confident do you long-time Crystal cruisers feel about their financial stability? Thank you.
  9. Looking at Alaska cruises. I see savings of 25-30%. Do the prices shown take the sale into account?
  10. Curious if anybody has cruised aboard both ships. Looking for wider hallways and more elbow room (as in the lido or buffet). Automatic public doors. I realize most public bathrooms are handicap ‘friendly’ but do any of these ships have public restrooms that are for disabled users only? Thank you.
  11. Thanks everyone. Looking at Crystal’s color-coded cabin categories, I don’t see those green, window handicap cabins listed. Any idea what category those are? I tried calling Crystal today, but they're closed. It can wait until Monday, however.
  12. We usually book balcony cabins. But I’m thinking the deck 7, window cabins might do. I especially like the fact they’re on the walking deck. Are there photos of these cabins? Large or small windows? Easy deck access? Thank you. Caroline
  13. I see it’s the Zaandam doing Alaska. Love their walk around deck. And smaller size.
  14. If you book with HAL, consider booking at a time when the kiddos are back in school. There will still be kids, but not as many as in June to August. We enjoy September. If you book their smaller ship (Is it the Veendam that’s doing Alaska in summer🤷🏻‍♀️), and don’t want to spring for a balcony, you might do fine in an outside cabin on the promenade deck. Easy access to the outside and (depending on location), you’ll still have an ocean view. Some people don’t like them because of people walking by. But we liked them.
  15. Our favorite cruise was with Viking. But yes, they are very spendy. Although we also enjoy no kids, no casino… HAL sure does Alaska right. We’ve enjoyed round trip out of Seattle and Vancouver (we prefer round trip out of Vancouver). You might also consider a back to back cruise (14 nights) out of Vancouver. Very relaxing. But I don’t believe they have their small ship doing this route. Also, HAL gets the best docking spaces. Tough call for sure. We have done numerous Alaska cruises and are also considering another. Im looking at Crystal (new to us) or Holland America (their small ship).
  16. Hello fellow cruisers! Hoping someone here can offer suggestions and opinions. We recently returned from the Oceania Regatta and realize we can no longer cruise on that class of ship. Much too crowded and not wheelchair accessible. We found Viking Oceans the most accessible, but not welcoming to those in wheelchairs. It’s too bad as Viking is our favorite line. So we’re looking at other lines too (Regent, Seabourn), but I’m curious about Crystal. Are there any handicap accessible restrooms throughout the ship (Serenity)? Are the doors out to decks (pool, promenade) push open or automated and are there large thresholds? Are the hallways on the narrow, average or wider range? Would a standard-size wheelchair be able to navigate around the cleaning cart? Thank you in advance for your input.
  17. Hello fellow cruisers. Curious what luxury cruiseline/ship is a good fit for someone using a wheelchair. We loved Viking Oceans and felt it was one of the most accessible ships we’ve cruised on. However, I think they, and other guests, would rather not have wheelchair users onboard. We recently cruised with Oceania aboard the Regatta, and realize it’s time we give up that class of ship - very challenging for wheelchair users. Looking at Seabourn, Crystal (Serenity), Regent or Oceania’s new Vista. Automatic, public ada bathroom doors. Low thresholds, wider hallways, automatic doors into the pool deck area. These things are important. Perhaps newer ships would be best. Yet, we don’t want to cruise the mass-market, mega-sized ships. Ideas? Suggestions? Thank you!

  19. Thank you. Any cruise within the U.S. Mainly interested in the Mississippi and east coast trips. But open to suggestions.
  20. Is there a U.S. based cruise line and itinerary that would be suitable for a wheelchair user? Thank you!
  21. Do we bring masks or are they provided? Do people even wear them onboard anymore? Thank you
  22. Our cruise departs on Friday. Oceania sent a couple muster drill videos to watch at home. Does that mean in-person, on-deck muster drills are no longer?
  23. Curious if anyone has been upgraded shortly after boarding? If so, did you put your request in at the front desk or elsewhere?
  24. We board the Regatta in a week (out of Seattle). I love the flower bouquets available at Pike Place and have brought them aboard another cruise-line. Curious if anybody has done the same and if Oceania allows it?
