All interesting variations of the answer! On our last cruise it was no more in the OVC. We asked and had been told it was gone. Hopefully that wasn’t the case as it seems some of you may still have experienced as of late!
Sorry. Here’s full details:
Ship:eclipse
sail date October 28
Cabin booked: concierge veranda
Email received 8/30
bid $300 on aqua class with min bid at $200
bid $1005 on sky suite with minimum bid at $400pp
Just got the email that the sky suite bid was approved.
The sky suite is still pending - aqua class dropped to expired. So hoping we get it! We bumped up our bid to a fairly decent offer, but still under the total rack rate by half!
we are elite on X and thought we would give VV a try as we loved their airline brand and it looked like a lot carried over to their ships. Loved the experience,
especially the food. We have returned to VV a few times for the restaurants alone.
The unique vibe, non traditional cruising, and service levels have all been a breath of fresh air.
all this 1000%
Ship:equinox
sail date October 28
Cabin booked: concierge veranda
Email received 8/30
bid on aqua class and sky suite
still both pending. fingers crossed we can back in a suite!
That is beyond frustrating!
for anyone on upcoming sailings, I would check that website (I need to google to see if there are any other options. Perhaps the cruise mapper site as an alternative ) to see if it’s live updated with changes.
You should know Solstice’s location once it arrives on Saturday morning by 7am. I plan on doing that Saturday when we head out there.
Thanks for the review! A shame about the weather. We had a bad storm last week (well bad for so cal!) that probably contributed a tad to the seas. Usually that first day out and last day back are gloomy…
Having sailed many lines myself, I find we gravitate to celebrity due to the service and food. Pretty low key and don’t need a ton of scheduled activities so this line fits right in. But I can see how the larger ships can offer more….but after Oasis of the seas I said never again to a mega ship! 🙂
I want to assume that this was due to the arrival at the different pier that this specific cruise arrived at. I don’t think it’s the same for all San Pedro sailings. But maybe anyone who sails next can confirm/deny.
So for those following along here who are on future Solstice sailings from San Pedro, you can check their port website and it will tell you what berth you are in/out of. https://www.portsamerica.com/operations/cruise-los-angeles-terminal-schedule
seems like @OrcaGirl arrival berth was a bit of an anomaly luckily (though sorry it was so bad for you)
I think Aqua class is definitely a varied preference. I love it as I love to spend time in the Persian Gardens. I also love the intimacy of Blu as well as the menu (tho dammit if the menu is so repetitive. It’s time they changed them up!)
But if you don’t think you would prefer either of those perks, then I agree that a Balcony is the way to go!
Following along! Thanks for sharing. We’ll be on in a few weeks so this helps me get even more excited! Would love to know guest count if you hear it! (Our cruise last month we had a grand total of 288 passengers on the Millennium!!!)
