  1. You’ll be fine so long as you avoid the eager-beavers who arrive at 9 or 10.
  2. And bless your heart for thinking that anyone hasn’t figured out what “bless your heart” means…
  3. Most hospitals have an infectious disease clinic, and some of those even have a travel clinic subsidiary. We’ve found them VERY helpful in discussing both travel requirements and travel suggestions, in addition to prescribing meds to take along “ just in case”. They also gave us risk info sheets on each country we visited. There is a modest fee, but we felt it was well worth it.
  4. $1,000 for missing a minor port due to weather? That’s unbelievable!! 😳
  5. Viking’s demographic has always been an older crowd. As a laid- back experience, with no Broadway shows or climbing walls, etc., older folks tend to gravitate toward the small ship, simpler experience. As a relatively pricey cruise, well-to-do older folks are more prevalent, and wealthy older folks tend to have more infirmities. As for the dress, my theory is that Viking has to go further down the demographic ladder to fill their ever-expanding fleet of ships. In addition, while they publish supposed standards, they obviously don’t enforce them. Viking has never had a diverse cross-section of travelers, which many of us are fine with.
  6. And all this while I thought they used crazy glue on those laundry tags!! They are a nice reminder of cruises past.
  7. 24-48 hours. Good quality of service. You request folded or on hangers. Never had a problem.
  8. There’s usually very little to do that day, as everyone is preparing for the Junkanoo parade that night, and/ or hung over from the night before. We’ve even changed our visit schedule to avoid Nassau on Christmas and New Year’s because of the disruptions to normal tourist activities.
  9. We’ve used a technique where two people in our party ask two different cabs for their fare, then go with the cheaper. Agree nearly all cabs downtown use a “sliding scale” pricing technique, where they charge what they think they can get away with.
  10. It’s called the Moon Bar. Have you ever been to a casino that does not have a bar??
  11. Promise them anything, but give them the shaft.
  12. But so difficult to plan against!! 😎🥃
  13. Forward, Deck 7. 😉 Best access to the Explorer’s Lounge, which is the venue we visit most often on a cruise! No seasickness issues (Sea Bands), and any gentle rocking rocks us to sleep. 😴
  14. The $5pp vans are located at the end of the cruise pier and at Atlantis outside the Royal Tower where the upscale shops are, just before you walk down the stairs to Marina Village.
  15. Which has nothing to do with their ability to spend dollars in Europe and their home country - where they’ll also suffer a conversion loss. Think of it from the recipient’s perspective, not the donor’s.
  16. Why on earth would you tip in US dollars when the cruise is in Europe?? I doubt many of the crew vacation in New York City!!
  17. Our experience is that onboard booking begins at the full rack rate and then discounts from there, so the deal looks more attractive than it is. We’ve even been quoted “discount” prices that are above what we’ve seen in recent sale brochures.
  18. I think you meant un-dentured servant…
  19. Shallow bowls in bathrooms often spill over and flood the floor, especially with cruise ship vacuum lines!! 😮🚽
  20. Hopefully you’re referring to watching the Shari Lewis puppet show!! 😉🐑
  21. Which for some can only be determined after you figure the “value” of the package calculated to 17 decimal places…😎🥃
  22. And the never-ending tipping debate…
