  1. Exactly! And the fact that it isn't is just one more case of NCL doing what they are best at.
  2. Sorry to hear of your troubles on top of the difficulties you experienced last week. From everything I've read, be aware that purchasing air from any of the mass market cruise lines would result in the same problem. The cruise lines are providing you with the cheapest airfare they can find and that is all. Just about any problems with the airfare once they've purchased it on your behalf are between you and the airline.
  3. You completely ignored the definition I provided. As I said, just because you say so, doesn't make it so. I have every confidence that if I asked a hotel for adjoining rooms, I'd get two rooms with a door between them.
  4. It's not about the dollar (nor the nickels nor the dimes).
  5. Agreed. I'm from New England who in my younger days used to get lobster straight off my friend's boat when he came in, and later in life used to have it at least weekly through most of the summer, I always found lobster on cruise ships to be disappointing at best. Often times it was that imposter lobster (rock?) but even when they offered cold water lobster they usually over cooked it or otherwise it was just underwhelming. I always assumed the excitement about lobster night was more for those who didn't have the same ready access that I did.
  6. I'd also heard that in some cases when ordering Baileys they are substituting the imposter. Not sure if they are charging you the Bailys price or not. This is something I'll be paying close attention to in November when I will be on Encore.
  7. I don't know the answer. But if you just up your bid by $10, you will instantly be ahead of where you were in line, if the line is ordered by bid amount as the primary key.
  8. Look again, I posted both "adjoining" and "joined" because joined was used in the definition of adjoining. Just because you @MoCruiseFan says "adjoining" means something and "connecting" means something different, doesn't mean they actually do. Especially in light of the definitions from a source like Oxford that I posted.
  9. I'm not sure why you felt the need to correct @oasisorbust's terminology, but, you might want to be sure you are correct if you do so. From Oxford, definition of adjoining: And if we're going to dicker over what "joined" means: There was nothing wrong with Oasisburst's use of adjoining.
  10. Yes, overall cruise cost increases. But the fact that its not the cruise fare itself that is increasing is what makes it seem more like N&D (or for those who get their shorts in a bunch over the use of N&D: ... is what makes it annoying).
  11. Right - I vaguely recall it being like a wedding or banquet: meat, fish or vegetable choices.
  12. But it's less than what you used to get. If you want to maintain the same amount of Specialty Dining, you have to pay. If you don't like that being referred to as N&D, fine. How about just calling it annoying? It's the same effect.
  13. I agree and as I recall the dinner was nothing special, certainly not something I'd consider paying for if there wasn't a cirque style show happening too.
  14. I think this is really a very subjective thing. We find the Thermal Spas to be hot/humid/heavy to the point where we have no interest in spending time in them. But that's us, and obviously we are in a minority because they sell out (or so I am told) and they keep building them on their ships.
  15. None of what you wrote after your quote of my statement has anything to do with my statement. UKstages wrote something, you dismissed UKstages' statement, I pointed out the fallacy in your dismissal. My statement has nothing to do with CBP, food, or any of what you've been lecturing us all on. For your convenience and reference, this is the thread of quotes:
  16. Not often. A common situation is where we might want to "try" something. IIRC, Cagneys one night we got Shrimp Cocktail and Ahi Tuna but both wanted to try the oysters Rockefeller.
  17. I'm another one who has never once given a thought to whether the room is connecting or not.
  18. That's actually a very good approach. Hmmm... If I ever get more status and start getting the more free meals, that might be a good way to burn one.
  19. No, that is not what's happening if you keep the full context of the discussion in mind. The correct advice was given and an alternative/wrong advice was also given. In response to the wrong, as a way to convince the person they are wrong it was suggested to prove it to him/herself. And as was stated, no one is trying to get away with anything. If people want to take an individual post out of the context of the full thread, well, that's on them and I'm certainly not going to worry about that.
  20. Well, if you say the soups, sauces and stews are made from scratch, that surprises me. I don't know for sure obviously so I need to take your word for it. If so, they need some new recipes because they typically taste much like mass produced soups/sauces/stews that one would get in bags from Sysco or similar. I'm not saying they are buying these things from a supplier like that, I actually thought I'd read about onshore kitchens that were prepping most of the food served on the mass market lines like NCL. It's not that important so not going to bother looking for it, nor do I want to question your statements. As always, thanks for your sharing your expert knowledge.
  21. "pre-made" isn't unusual. My guess is a significant amount of the food served, especially in the MDRs and buffets, is pre-made. But I do agree, putting individual servings into microwaves is ridiculous.
