I'm packing rain-repellent running shoes, and black comfy flats. I'm wearing my Birkenstocks on the plane. They're the "Granada" style which I find a little more dressy for the dining room, but can take me to the pool.

Do not miss the Once Upon a Time show. Very cute take on fairytales set to modern music. Even my DH enjoyed it.
Magic show was also very we'll done!

I just came off her for their Christmas cruise. We also sailed her two years ago in March.
On this cruise we moved to Emerald level. No big deal, but they actually forgot to invite us to the C&A event as well. I found the ship busier than the last time, but it was Christmas [emoji3]
I would say the MDR staff was wonderful as well as dinner. Wonderful choices every night.
Deck patrol was in full effect kicking out parent with young kids out of the Solarium all week and removing towels.
Great cruise. We love Freedom class.

Agreed.
We have to fly to get on board any cruise ship (Canadian cruisers). NOLA is still our fave. Got in at 6:30 PM a day before sail and had a blast before sailing the next day.
I do wish they would move a ship back. We'd love it! Shorter flight than Miami :)

I loved Majesty, Radiance, Voyager and Freedom class. I have no desire to go bigger. Freedom was as big as I could go, but I really enjoyed the entertainment on that ship!
I recently sailed Vision class, and after that, we decided Voyager and Freedom class were for us :)

Thank you OP for detailing your experience.
Having sailed several times with RCCL, I recently had an "average" cruise on Vision of the Seas. I believe that RCCL does try hard to establish a level of consistency across the fleet in terms of service, quality of food, entertainment, etc.
When that expectation is not met, you're disappointed. Both my DH and I felt that way after sailing Vision. After 6 wonderful cruises, it was bound to happen I guess.
Was my cruise horrendous, no. Would I cruise that ship again? Not a chance. I know what works for ME as a cruiser.
I do understand about each home port catering to a particular crowd. We have our favourites too. People can be rude anywhere, to be sure. But again, when you cruise for the first time on a particular ship, you learn whether she's for you.
OP I appreciate your comments.

Don't worry. With all the hard up selling on Vision, you'll hear about the specialty restaurants. We felt badgered all week to try one [emoji15]

On this week the posted movies above and:
Mockingjay Part 1
The Theory of Everything

Sailing in 7 days!
I'll be reading this all week!
-
Having been on both, you'll love either [emoji2]

Heading out on her soon! Thanks for your review.
I'll be careful of those massagers [emoji3]

She's a lovely ship! Can't wait to read more. Wonderful so far :)

On my Alaskan cruise we were seated with another couple in their mid 30s, with similar professions.
Our other couple at the table were a pair of nuns. They told tales of all of their travels, and joined us on the helicopter excursion to the glacier.
Sometimes table matches are very well done!

On the Jewel in October and they opened the Solarium roof almost every day!
I will keep my fingers crossed :) Looking forward to escaping the cold!

Thanks for the replies. Lesson learned not to go by RCI's description of the Solarium on Vision class ships. At least we know for the future to book Voyager or Freedom class for open air Solariums.
We're not fans of greenhouses [emoji6]
Thanks!

Curious as to whether the opened the Solarium roof when the weather was hot.
Glad to hear she's in great shape! Sailing in one month.
-
We were really hoping for an open Solarium on our upcoming Vision cruise. I had assumed it would be opened during hot days. I'm sad to hear they don't open the roof.
Guess I've learned to book Voyager or Freedom class only in the future if we want no glass.

I hope WinksCruises doesn't mind, but I took all of the pictures of the Daily Compass and dinner menus from this review and combined them into one PDF document. I did NOT include the Teen Compass though.
First time I've tried using Google Drive - but I think this will work!

Hopefully helpful to someone!
Dan.
Works like a charm. Saved to my Google Drive for my upcoming cruise! Thanks!

Thanks so much for your great review. We board her in 35 days [emoji2]

Fantastic review!
We sail her in March. My question for you, or anyone, do they open the roof on Vision in the Solarium Pool?
Thanks!

Thanks for this. I just booked Almaplena for the day as my DH is an avid snorkeller. I appreciate the honest description of this small port. Blue Kay was our next choice if Almaplena was booked.

Canadians - what are you doing now that we're being advised not to cruise

Cancelling. Can’t risk an additional two week quarantine upon return. That part is too risky. On hold to can el our Saturday sailing.
