  1. The costs can vary by sailing for upgrades to wi-fi and beverage packages.  Also a flash sale can happen which can increase the discount.
Currently for our January booking Premium Access is $33.99 per person per day, everyone over age 6 in cabin must purchase. Upgrade from Classic beverage to Premium is $13.99 pp pd.  FYI the martinis at the Martini bar are $17 so $7 over the Classic package.  Baileys is also above the Classic package limit, but not sure of how much.

As Elite+ you will 240 minutes of premium wi-fi, which if you log out when done can last quite awhile.

  2. The Apex and Eclipse are very close in double occupancy, with Apex at 2910 and Eclipse at 2852.
The Eclipse is about 35’ longer but 7 ‘ narrower.  So pretty much the same size ship.

For us the switch from the Apex to the Eclipse would be a cause to consider cancelling.    We have done 5 cruises on the Eclipse and it is a nice ship.  We prefer the E class ships with the 4 MDRs which expand the menu choices, the added lunch venues of Eden Cafe and Le Grand Bistro, the additional specialty restaurants.  The theater has newer technology and the shows are better and the Club and Eden offer 2 more places to see a show.  Plus the clean contemporary decor is more to our liking than the traditional heavy decor of the Eclipse.
For many there not being a space equivalent to the Sky Lounge is a big negative with the E class.  We have done 40 + cruises on Celebrity and have probably been in the Sky Lounge no more than 20 times , mostly Senior Officer gatherings or Celebrity connections (pre pandemic) gatherings.

Having cruised Scandinavia I think  you will have a great trip no matter which ship.

All I know is that the Concierge said that…

    1. The exemption allowing two of 3 passengers to upgrade could only be given onboard.

    2. the Elite + discount to upgrade could only be done pre-cruise before boarding.

Seems like a Catch 22 to me. I’m pretty sure they could have given the discount if they wanted to.

The onboard Concierges are great.  However  just like the shoreside staff who aren’t familiar with how things are done on board, I doubt that someone working on board would be very familiar with how exceptions to the beverage package rules are handled by the reps working in the call centers.

  4. The Captains Club detailed list of benefits does say that the upgrade discount is for pre cruise purchases.

As I said, the Concierge onboard, explained that precruise, the exception for a recovering alcoholic would not have been granted. and that a situation like this can ONLY be done onboard.

There have been numerous posts on here and other platforms that the recovering alcoholic and pregnancy exceptions have been done pre cruise.

Did the Concierge handle the exception for the sister?

Thank you for all your responses and advice..  Don’t want to sound ungrateful at all (and after all we have paid for the upgrade) but if we have paid for Wi-Fi,  drinks package that is ported with us, but the thermal spa isn’t ?? To be honest this was our first Aqua experience so never experienced the thermal spa but doesn’t seem equitable that one element you have paid for is excluded when you paid for it with your original booking,

You trade off the Aqua Class amenities (Thermal spa access) for the amenities of a Suite:   a Butler, Luminae, the Retreat Lounge and Retreat Sun Deck, priority boarding, priority tendering, etc.

You can dine in Blu on a space available basis.

The only Sky Suites that have access to the Thermal spa are the Aqua Sky Suites.

Isn't tipping "built in" nowadays? Or are you wondering about additional tipping?

Gratuity Policy: $18.00 per guest, per day will be applied to guests sailing on all Inside, Oceanview and Veranda staterooms. $19.00 per guest, per day will be applied to guests sailing on all Concierge and AquaClass staterooms. $23.00 per guest, per day will be applied to guests sailing in The Retreat staterooms.

The daily gratuity can be added when booking and is paid at final payment.  Otherwise the above amounts will be added to the on board account daily.

Both excellent locations deck 10 will give you a better view as higher up and close to pools. 8336 is smack middle of aft possibly larger balcony the middle ones are bigger on S class ships.  Personally I'd choose 10.

Middle SV on the E class have larger balconies due to the curved back of the ship.

I agree. Been on both, and Celebrity felt more "nickel and dime". $4 for a coke on C, $2.50 on P. Having to upgrade to premium wifi. Many drinks that would be included in Princess Plus (e.g. a basic martini) were over the limit for the classic drink package. The prices of the specialty dining on Celebrity were double what you'd see on Princess.

You can get a basic martini on the Classic package, what you can’t get is the large specialty martinis with tge Classic package without a upcharge.

Our experience regarding the reserved seats in the theater has changed over the past year.  On previous cruises, when we were in a suite, there were reserved theater seats (center section of the balcony) ONLY on formal nights.  On those nights, the butlers greeted you as you walked into the theater and escorted you to the reserved section.

We were recently on the Silhouette from August 28th – September 9th 2024 in Aqua Class.  Upon entering the balcony section on the first night (not a formal night), we encountered the roped off center section of the balcony.  I asked the attending Celebrity employee why this section was roped off on a non-formal night.  He explained that the policy had recently changed fleet wide, and this section of the balcony would be roped off every night for the suite passengers.  That said, at exactly 7:00 or 9:00 when the show was set to begin, the ropes were taken down and anyone was allowed to sit in that area.  On our cruise, we politely waited at the top of the stairs, and once the ropes were taken down, we proceeded to select our seats.  Interestingly, there were always at most only 10-15 suite passengers seated in the reserved section prior to the ropes coming down.

The roped off area every night started when Celebrity introduced the Premier access passes.  Like many suite guests we have only used the reserve seats once.  Not in a location we like.
Since with Premier  Access it is an extra person per day charge those purchasing that package probably use those seats more as they paid extra  over and above the cruise fare for that privilege.
