Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I tried it three times. I have literally sailed on every category of Celebrity except their new suite categories. Sky suite yes, the others no but everything else I've tried. I cannot stand the INfinite Veranda. It's like a narrow tunnel, and the only view is straight ahead. I used to be able to go "out to the balcony" and see the whole side of the ship and miles out in all directions. Now I feel like I'm looking at the sea through a tunnel. Not to mention the air-conditioning goes off, when you try and put down the window, and the person in the cabin doing their makeup in the bathroom all of a sudden is dying from the heat and humidity. Bad design. I have to say no. Aren't there any regular balconies on the Edge class ships?
  2. I do not like the Infinite Veranda. I feel trapped in the room, and I can't just sit outside and take in the view of the whole side of the ship. This was not a real good idea on Celebrity's part. I hope they build more regular balconies.
  3. As a fellow senior cruiser, and almost Zenith level, advertising just young people in your brochures or commercials cruising is simply unrealistic. First of all they have to go to work and don’t have the time off that the senior cruiser has. That point seems to have been ignored as just recently X has been implementing new programs, so the young people can join us in our wonderful adventure. I don’t begrudge the young adults joining the older crowd, but please don’t forget how your company got here in the first place! We have been loyal to your company for years, and many of us decades. This is not the time to nor the prestigious company that you are to “ throw us to the wolves”. I have worked very hard to try to get to Zenith with Celebrity. I’ve noticed the changes over the years, but one thing that stuck out was that our music is being erased and replaced with millennium music. It seems the great diversity in the enrichment program of lectures has all but disappeared. It seems you have forgotten about your main clientele all together. I was on a West Coast trip, Alaska to Mexico for a great length of time on the same ship. Our lecture was talking about the FBI and CSI type lectures with fingerprints and robbers and gangsters. What the heck does that have to do with cruising there should’ve been lectures on whale migration lectures on the cities of San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Mexico, and the wonderful people and culture so we could learn something instead, we learned nothing about that the Pacific Coast. It should’ve been a precursor to going ashore. Obviously shore excursions is not going to be doing these type of lectures, but a historical lecturer for that particular area should have been boarded and stayed on board. He should still be on board but instead, you have forensic lectures , I just don’t get that and neither did anybody else. There was a lot of disappointment on the lectures. If I’m interested in CSI, I’ll watch TV. My suggestion to Celebrity is to take heed and advice and get the proper lectures to board your ships for the proper areas visiting. I have to admit I was on the Millennium this summer, and our naturalist lecturer was absolutely incredibly, and out of this world!!!😁
  4. Just got off the Eclipse. my experience for the most part was wonderful. Starting with the husband and wife team in the passport bar, continuing on to the pool bar with Panda, the bartender, and then onto the Sky Lounge for Captains Club events and just to hang out during Captains Club time with Rahul and Victoria. My service was excellent and my glasses stayed full. They poured very good drinks for me and all had wonderful service oriented personalities! The main dining room food: was good, but it used to be much better. But so did all the other cruise lines. Some of the Waite staff showed inexperience, like maybe in their off hours they should have some special training for these people because it showed inexperience. I am sure the longer that these employees remain on, the more polished they will become. Some are just on their first contract. I realize that the staffing isn’t at 100% or if it is, it seemed a little thin to me in the dining room. I realize it is hard to recruit and train and have everyone on board coming off of the Covid epidemic. It is certainly not just Celebrity having these issues. It is all the cruise lines along with stateside Restaurants and businesses. They are in the same predicament. I cannot fault them for this. Blue restaurant was very good. The only thing I did notice was that some of the waiters didn’t have the solid training to anticipate the needs of the guests. They are getting there, but many employees admitted that This was their first contract. It seems with the more that you pay for your room the better quality of service you get almost wondering if the people in aqua class should’ve been more hand-picked to work in that restaurant. The menu has been shortened considerably as well as in the main dining room. Many of the favorites that used to be : you could have it anytime or simply just added to the menu. But…many of the other items taken off the menu totally in the main dining room! or, I could say, the choices were limited nightly. If you stayed on the cruise for more than a week, you repeated the same menu. How about a rotation every 21 days instead of 7. There were literally hundreds of back to back guess each commenting on that same idea of expanding the menu and also rotating weeks. now to be fair to Celebrity, there was a price point for these cruises on the West Coast. They were fairly inexpensive compared to the Caribbean so you have to allocate , the food quantities per guest, and types of food you’re serving to fit your price point or you’ll lose money so I understand their issues. Food prices have gone up worldwide and you can’t expect filet mignon on a beer budget so I actually applaud Celebrity for what they were able to accomplish on such a low price point. I think they did an excellent job. I’m just used to more maybe it will change once I get back to the Caribbean , hopefully. my room was wonderful, kept neat by my room Steward, Kade. I signed up for the Go Green program with Celebrity, and still had an excellent opinion of my clean room and happy room steward, who is willing to go the extra mile. Senior staff: Cruise Director, Hotel , Director, Chief Engineer, Staff Captain and Captain were each wonderful to get to know for me, as a guest. I enjoyed the laughs and cordial meetings with all of them. It’s too bad we can’t have more staff like them on the different cruise ships. Each was super friendly and circulated well throughout the ship when not busy with their particular duties. Impressive. The clientele on board mostly. ( over 50) which is great as I am in that age group. I found a great party at the martini bar nightly, and there were 2 flair bartenders out of the three bartenders, which means they could perform some pretty crazy tricks at the bar shaking up those martinis! They definitely kept me entertained. Lots of chances to meet single women and men as well. I loved the ports that I was able to visit and would do this entire trip again in a heartbeat. See you all on another Celebrity Cruise.😁
  5. I've been cruising with Celebrity since the Century and Galaxy. At first I was Elite, it was great fun, then the new program came, and I was Elite plus. Unfortunately Covid hit, and I didn't cruise for 2.5 years, but I'm back. I have 4 cruises left until Zenith. I always had a goal of "Michaels club", although we used to go to that before. I like the idea of still working towards the premium beverage package, and the free cruise (it's still there, no?). I try to hold my alliance to Celebrity, but every once and a while find a new itinerary I truly love on another carrier. While I'm on the ship and keep comparing service to X. Yes, I've spent $$$ but I love Celebrity!🥰
  6. I bought a ticket for a 10:30 guided tour plus tower at 12:00 at Sagrada Familia. I'm on a B2B cruise on X and want to get off early, see a little of the area right around the Cathedral, tour, and get back to the ship. Does anyone know the taxi fare now to that area? I can always walk a few extra blocks from the Cathedral. And is there a good place for a coffee and pastry before? I'll be in a pinch to board, so have to watch the time. The traffic is also a big deal is on a Saturday I think but not sure. I am traveling alone.
  7. I also asked my TA if I could use this offer on transatlantic, she said I had to book it 30 days after I put my deposit down, but reading the fine print, it clearly states 90 days. Is it too late, since my booking is already made for this April Reflection T.A.? That's two TA's with two different meanings. Ha ha ha.
  8. Does anyone know what Plus one additional offer means? It doesn't say it's at the bottom of the chart, and I forgot to ask.
  9. I never got this offer until Covid Hit, and I am Elite Plus.
  10. Get more smaller ships, it's getting to be a Carnival or zoo of people on board. I feel like I am at a large fair especially at the pool. Need more areas with more spaces for people to do different activities. Not fond of using the atrium and stairway area as an entertainment area on the ship. It never used to be an area for dance lessons (the older ships we had the rendezvous lounge). It makes X look like they are out of room for activities on the ship. Instead of being a quiet elegant staircase, it is now extremely loud. What is happening to Celebrity, please don't turn into Carnival!
  11. 1)Can you please start opening up more opportunities for singles to cruise on Celebrity. Many seniors have lost their spouses and now are still in love with Celebrity, but feel paying 200% for a room is unreasonable, especially since the cruise fares have skyrocketed. 2)Another concern was in Captains Club, as X offered double points for customers booking Europe by March 31st, 2023, and sailing by December 2023. (Example, SINGLE customer books Concierge (5 pts/n, and receives 10 pts/p/n). As a single you are paying double occupancy prices to begin with and start out with 10 pts. for the cabin you paid double for. That makes sense, but for the special, are discriminated against, and only offered 15 points instead of 20. Can you explain why you discriminate in the point system against Singles? It is so disheartening. A normal couple gets 10 points for the room, but during the special receives 20 points for the room, for the same price a single is paying, minus taxes, fees, and gratuities.
  12. I know we in Captains Club have talked about this since 2014, when you changed the point system, but why in heaven's name haven't you added an additional tier after Elite Plus. The climb is too much with no other rewards in sight for years. Gaining 2100 more points is hard work. 35 points for a week sailing in Concierge, as an example. It's time to add a new level of Elite Plus category. How about Horizon? Horizon is the level under Zenith and can also be noted as a special place in our hearts for the ship named Horizon. Maybe started at 2000 points. Zenith-Nadir-Horizon - Zenith - Wikipedia Halfway between Nadir and Zenith, in this case halfway between Elite Plus and Zenith. It stays with the company theme.
