  1. I've only done one Carnival cruise but have five more booked. The only email I get is to put some more money down on those future cruises, even the ones into 2024.
  2. We were recently on the Enchanted Princess and they had the same problem, maybe worse. There is very little seating close to the atrium and you cannot see or hear anything with the seating near the walls. All the spiral staircases and the three story banisters are lined with people trying to see some special events taking place. But they do have other venues for game shows. Trivia and bingo but they too fill up fast so have to get there just when the previous event ends in order to get a seat.
  3. Are all the shows at 7 30 nightly? Any at 9 30? Now I have to rebook all my dinner reservations which I made for 7 30.
  4. We dined there in the Joy in September. My DH ordered the ribs. There were only 3 of them and they were undercooked. I ordered the skewered shrimp and it was delicious. One and done.
  5. While you were in Bermuda were you able to walk around with just a shirt or did you need a jacket/sweater?
  6. I never met Jaja but I remember her posts, mainly because I think she only sailed out of NY. RIP👼
  7. I'm also along for the ride. Hope you have smooth seas and good weather.
  8. The more bad weather stories I hear the more I'm regretting my Feb. 1st cruise to Bermuda on the Getaway. Before I booked I read all the forums which said the temp should be in the 60's and pretty comfortable for doing land excursions. No one mentioned wind and rough seas. I had just been to the ABC and other islands on a 14 day Princess cruise and had great weather at all ports so I just wanted a short trip out of NY to break up the winter. I guess I'm just naive and realize that weather can be bad anywhere during the winter.
  9. On our September cruise on the Joy we were too full to eat the tirimisu in the MDR so asked waiter if we can take it back to our room. Said no problem. Put both pieces on one plate with cover and gave us forks and cloth napkins. That night we nibbled at one piece but still wasn't hungry to eat it all. Night 2 nibbled again but still didn't finish it. By night 3 had to leave a note to our steward to discard it. We didn't want to leave it in the hall outside our cabin. I hate walking down the halls with trays of food on the floor.
  10. We have only been on one Carnival cruise last April. It was a 7 day cruise on the Legend out of Baltimore. We booked it and three other Carnival cruises when they had their birthday sale at 50% off. We usually sail NCL and Princess but at those prices decided to try Carnival, even though it has such a party boat reputation. And we enjoyed it very much. We are not drinkers so food, entertainment and interesting ports are what is important to us. So after our B2B in May/June I'll be able to really tell if I still enjoy Carnival with all their cutbacks. And all the other line are cutting back too. Just read some of the posts on all the forums here and on FB. On our Princess cruise in November we did notice they were short staffed and the food was not up to par as before. But we still loved it and will travel with them again when we see a good itinerary and the prices aren't too bad. I was just going to book my first cruise on Celebrity for May, 2024 to extend my time in California after two other Carnival cruises I have booked. They are running a good sale now and I have a great promotion through my cc company but my husband and I talked it over and decided not to have so much money tied up for so long so will not book.
  11. There is a promotion on that says if you purchase $500 you can get 20,000 fun points which can be converted into a statement credit of $200. Does this $500 have to be a Carnival product or for any purchase? I did read the T&C but it was not clear to me. Is this a good promo or do they have better promos? Last year my husband got $250 taken off when he applied for it right at the booking.
  12. Was going to book my first Celebrity cruise with the Amex offers. First with my husband's offer for $500 (deposit) and in March, just before it expires, my offer on $1000. The cruise is not until May, 2024. While talking with my travel agent I mentioned this additional payment and she said that if you book a nonrefundable deposit, all payments before final payment are considered nonrefundable. Is this true? If I instead booked with a refundable payment, would the extra $1000 payment be considered refundable?
  13. We did our only (never again) balcony guarantee last year on the Breakaway. Was assigned a forward cabin on deck 9 right near the theater and right above where they play shuffleball so when we go out on the balcony they could see us very clearly. Also it was a loooong walk to the elevators. Went to guest services and said I couldn't walk that far and if they had another cabin in the aft near the elevators and close to the dining rooms. They told me to call back after sailaway which I did. They then moved us to deck 10 near the back elevators. This was a perfect location.
  14. We did a 14 day southern carribbean back in November on the Enchanted Princess and it was great. Now we have a short 5 day cruise on NCL Getaway to Bermuda. The weather there is not looking too good. Next we have a 21 day B2B on the Carnival Pride in May/June. We will do the west coast of Spain, northern France, Belgium and then Norway. Looks to be spectacular.
  15. I am on a side to side to side. Carnival Radiance to Carnival Panorama to Celebrity Summit. There is one day between the first two so no problem. The Panorama is at Long Beach and the Summit is at San Pedro the same day. Is it easy to travel between the two?
  16. So what did you wind up doing on your day in Bermuda?
  17. Hope our February 1st Getaway Bermuda cruise doesn't turn into a cruise to nowhere.
  18. Did you go to any shows or other entertainment besides casino?
  19. Loving your report. So interesting. Maybe some day. How is the mosquito and bug problem during the day with all the open venues?
  20. I am considering my first Celebrity cruise. Decided on an oceanview cabin to start. Saw that there were larger portholes (5-6' round) at the rear starboard side on deck 3 rather than the standard 4' portholes elsewhere. Are these good cabins to have? They are under the Rendezvous Lounge and promenade. And next to the meeting place. Will they be noisy at night?
  21. Looking at the dailies no live shows the night before and now three shows on one day? They need to get their act together (pun intended) and offer shows more evenly.
  22. How disappointing. I am on the 5 day Getaway cruise to Bermuda on Feb. 1st. I planned on taking the ferry to the bus to Crystal Caves and back the first day but if they cancel the second day this probably won't be possible if they leave at 3:45pm. I picked this cruise because we were just down to the other islands in November and wanted a short respite from the winter.
  23. Yes, you need reservations for Burn the Floor, Million Dollar Quartet and some comedy shows in Headliners. I think you sign up in Headliners when you embark. On the Joy in September we did not need reservations for Broadway Unplugged but it may be different on the Getaway. By the way, we were just on the Enchanted Princess in November for a 14 day cruise. We really liked having live shows in the theater every night but some of them were pretty lame. The production shows were good but most of the one-time guest entertainers were terrible. I'm on a short, 5 day Getaway cruise Feb. 1st and was trying to figure out how to manage seeing all the entertainment. Looks like there may not be enough even for us.
  24. I have a refundable rate. Is this also considered best price guaranteed?
