  1. I'm sure I've seen a comparison table based on whether or not it's worth taking either of the two packages but I can't find it. Maybe I imagined it, but if not, I'd be grateful if someone could repost it. Thank you.
  2. Regarding FCC, the cruise line is Princess. Don't know if they do them.
  3. Thanks for your comments. I did look to see if the cruise was available in 2025, but it isn't. However, financial constraints mean that 2026 is better as it's longer for us to save! Decided to take the more pragmatic approach and do nothing until nearer the time, after all the price may drop!! With family living abroad with our first grandchild, visits to them will almost certainly take priority in the future. In the meantime we look forward to our cruise on Queen Anne in August.
  4. Just need to vent a little to make myself feel better so please be kind to me! I've seen a cruise which really appeals to me and even DH's eyes lit up when I showed him it BUT it's not until February 2026. The genuine concern is that we are senior citizens with multiple health issues which sadly will not improve in the 601 days to the cruise (yes, I checked how far ahead it is) and neither of us is prepared to book so far ahead. We are in the UK so refundable deposits are very few and far between. I will make a note of it and (much) nearer the time should be able to make a decision re booking. Curious as to what other older folk do in a situation like this? Do they throw caution to the wind and book or are they sensible and just wait?
  5. Yes, last time we cruised with Cunard if there wasn't anything that appealed to DH he just asked the waiter for a plain steak . He was satisfied with this.

  7. Captain Fasting would appear to have had quite an illustrious career. He was Master of the Caronia and Captain of the Queen Mary and the Elizabeth. The only photo I can find of him is the one below. He is 2nd left.
  8. I posted the article elsewhere and was 'challenged' as to whether it was correct. This was based on the fact that the origin of the story is Reddit. As no ship is mentioned in the article, posting it on this forum seemed the only logical way to find out if anyone knew anything.
  9. It makes for an interesting story, but is it the whole truth? Teenager leaves family behind on island after they miss cruise departure (msn.com)
  10. If you are with Nationwide please be very careful. We have banked with them for years and still do but in the summer of 2018 DH woke up with the symptoms of a mild stroke. The hospital did various tests and later the SAME day discharged him home with NO follow-up and NO medication. They were not convinced that it was a stroke but advised us that we should inform our insurance company and tell them what had happened. Nationwide's response was to say that they wouldn't cover him for any complications that may arise from the 'stroke'. To rub salt into the wound they suddenly decided that they would no longer cover him for his diabetes (longstanding). This effectively left him without any cover. If we hadn't rung them (only because the hospital told us to) we wouldn't have known! Fortunately we found cover which was just as well as DH became unwell (totally unrelated to previous problems) and we had to cancel our cruise less than 6 weeks before sailing.
  11. Those who are eligible have received a letter and an email confirming the £100. It's being paid into our accounts (we have separate accounts) during the middle of this month. Can't remember the criteria for receiving the money.
  12. Okay, I'll admit that this one is just for fun and doesn't truly fit the criteria but it's a Sunday afternoon and I'm bored!!
  13. Curious. What's the longest waiting time anyone has ever posted here? A bored Sunday morning led me to find that there's a Cunard voyage scheduled for the 3rd January 2027 which is a staggering 945 days away!!!
  14. Good review and I'm pleased that after all your 'difficulties' everything worked out just fine. Food is a very subjective matter, after all what one person likes (mushrooms) another one (daughter) hates with a passion!!! I would reluctantly agree that the MDR can be hit or miss. I have found that lately lots of red meat/chicken dishes have some sort of pork added and as I don't eat pork.....Yes, before someone says something, I know that I can request no pork, but sometimes it is not possible. I'm also one of a rare breed who actually likes the buffet!! We tend to go there for breakfast because you can guarantee hot toast and lots of smoked salmon 🤣
  15. We have an overnight stay in August but don't know where we will be docked (Queen Anne). Whilst we have the days sorted, I'm not sure what to do in the evening. We are a party of 3, 2 of us are senior citizens and we are travelling with our adult daughter. As rides do not appeal to any of us, I'm thinking that the Tivoli Gardens may be a waste of time? What other activities would you suggest? My hubby and myself are sadly not quite as mobile as we used to be, but can manage a walk (so long as no one is in a hurry!🤣). Really looking forward to visiting.
  16. Have a look at Santander Zero. No extra fees for spending abroad.
  17. So how does it work? Do we mention it as soon as we arrive at the terminal or do we carry on as normal? I should also point out that whilst DH has his stick with him, I usually fold mine up and pack it in the hand luggage as it's one less thing to cope with along with a handbag and briefly a large suitcase. I can use the hand luggage for support if necessary! Maybe I need to keep it out?
  18. Just paid for our upcoming cruise on the Queen Anne (yay) and notice that on the revised booking form it states that we have (on embarkation, not clear if also for disembarking) 121 Emergency Assistance. We both use walking sticks but can manage on our own. We filled in the new required form stating that we didn't need help. I'm not sure what this Assistance means. We are also travelling with our adult daughter who did not need to fill in the form. I'm assuming that she will still be able to accompany us - she's in the same cabin and has gold status: We are platinum. Thanks.
