  1. They even ship them to Canada - despite now having a fee for it - and that would be the easiest change to make. They had promised (with bs no doubt) to start Canada pre-Covid.
  2. FCD's used for deposits will be returned as FCD's - unless they have expired at the time the cruise booking is cancelled in which case the guest is refunded the $100 to original credit card payment. This is something for any guest to be aware of if doing a cancel/re-book to get a better promotion or lower fare. You need to get Princess to extend the expiry date of the FCD prior to doing the cancel/re-book so that the FCD is still available to be used for the new booking. AFAIK, the FCD used to book a non-ref cruise fare would be forfeited the same as if the deposit was $100 cash.
  3. I don't understand. A guest can apply a FCD as deposit for any type of booking. Note that if the voyage is a world cruise or a long voyage of something like > 40 days (forget the number or if changed), the FCD is not applied as $100 cash. Instead, the FCD is cancelled and replaced with a 3% fare discount.
  4. This appears to be a new play with Princess. I don't have info on full scope of this, but played around with a couple of searches and saw it happen what you saw and saw it working as it has been. I have not seen PCL use Non-Ref deposits for a long time. Have not even seen them as an option on most voyages I have looked at. It also seems odd to me that a guest choosing to risk their cabin selection also puts their deposit at risk. As for FCD versus cash, AFAIK it is the fare type code that drives a Ref/Non-Ref and not what form of payment is used to cover the deposit. Finally, IDK why anyone would take a Non-Ref deposit other than those $1 deposit deals they run from time-to-time.
  5. You have not mentioned when you are travelling. As one or two others mentioned, have you been ticketed or not? I don't understand what TA would be trying to do, as you need to access EZ-Air through Cruise Personalizer. Trying at check-in with a deep-discount ticket is not often going to work due to high frequent flyers who will have access over you. If the airline isn't offering an upgrade path on their website, I wouldn't count on it at all. Besides, how much do you think they will charge on the day of flying? How close is the business section to sold out (this is pretty much always possible to know since seat selection is generally free when buying a ticket, so seats will be allocated when sold. If you aren't ticketed, why aren't you just shopping for new tickets? I don't see where Princess would be of help here. I think we may be missing some facts about your situation, but I also think it is possible you don't fully understand EZ-Air. Follow suggestions in this thread as to how to use EZ-Air.
  6. I think that is a pretty good compare because 20 years ago - for a marker - the Outback steaks were pretty darn good. I don't recall the last time we went to an Outback, but it was hard to recognize the steak as a filet mignon cut from tenderloin and we have never been back, nor will we be. I did start to read/hear more about them being average. I recall when they were fairly new, the lineups were huge to get in.
  7. I revised my post once I had read more of the thread.
  8. <Removed recommendation for UBD since further reading indicated the OP is aware but staying in a WS. That said, I believe I have read that Suite guests can have dinner served in their room, so I am thinking you might be able to arrange a UBD even though you do not have the B - especially if mention that magic "A" word. 🙂. As for people saying to go to SD to avoid dressing up, there is no reason to avoid the DR at anytime whether you want to dress formal or informal.
  9. I'd say get used to using the past tense when talking about the CG meat.
  10. Ahh. I see. Well I guess we know Princess publishes itineraries using local time. From experience, we expect the ship will be on local time as well. But, be prepared for an unexpected change in what the ship does I suppose. What the ship does is irrelevant as long as one knows the actual local time. And, the experienced guest also knows that reputable excursion vendors are on top of the port schedules and make any required adjustments if ship time in port changes. Suffice to say it may be hard on the body to make a lot of time changes in a short period, but it does remove any confusion between ship and port.
  11. It is totally logical to me that the excursion vendor will be using their local time. Wouldn't expect them to know or care what time each cruise ship that calls in their port is using. I understand the ship makes it simpler for people to know what time it is, but we travelers should also be aware of the local time where we are going.
  12. Nor do I. I have NOT read a report about anyone's booking price changing due to applying the CCL Shareholder OBC.
  13. Well, then, how are they competent enough to change their watches?
  14. Okay, I take your word for how St Lucia works. But I have only seen one other poster report similar pricing anomaly (I think). And certainly this anomaly is not universal, so a mystery remains as to why and how it is affecting selected guests.
  15. Should be in App or perhaps on cabin TV. Or, go to GS if not working.
  16. It bugs me when Princess makes two time changes for one day worth. Can't adults figure out for one day when they need to be back to the ship on ship time and not the port time? Seems like a lot of disruption for not much benefit.
  17. Can we all consider that Princess may have differing documentation on the Australian webpages versus the N.A. webpages. Could be the same situation for UK webpages. IDK if the policy would be different sailing Australian cruises (which are in AUD), but it would seem unlikely since guests from N.A. do sail those voyages and policies should be consistent. Seems evident to me that PCL - and especially their IT dept - had problems adding new Premier program and most certainly with the latest pricing changes.
  18. I cannot explain your displayed cruise fares. They are not what I see when using Princess.com, nor when using an outside 3rd-party booking engine that shows me all eligible fares. I am thinking you may be getting a regional or targeted rate for what you are shopping for. I have such a thing being in Canada as Princess is offering many cruises at par to USD. Of course, I looked at the cruise fares for US market to compare, but I wouldn't see if there was something else particular for your State, or whether you have a targeted offer. There are two ways for this to resolve. If you are familiar with using 3rd party booking engines (websites) that have to login with Princess info (Name, BD, CC Member Nbr), then they typically will show you all eligible fares and also may show you the Princess Fare Code associated with the dollar cost. You need to know what Fare Code is being used. You saw the three I posted above. The other way is ask Princess rep or your TA which Fare Code is in play. It looks like some sort of "special" offer and not something I can see in available offers. Perhaps something to do with location St Lucia? The numbers in your photo are close, but not matching what I see. For the 7-night voyage, I have the following numbers: FARE TYPE 2 IN CABIN 1 IN CABIN STD $1,046 $617 PLUS $1,466 $1,037 PREMIER $1,606 $1,177 Add on the port taxes of about $191. Sorry I can't get you full info, but someone at Princess should be able to respond.
  19. IDK - we are free to purchase our own insurance in the market - or not. I have seen posts historically where members mention getting better insurance deals, but Princess has the CFAR which a lot of folks like to have in back pocket.
  20. Yes, what you provided makes a world of difference as I can look at specifics and provide more details. And tip-of-the-hat to @Sea Hag who has suggested your booking may be including Princess Vacation Protection (PVP) which costs 8% of base fare. So, I think I have the full picture. Tagging @smplybcause as OP who was also interested in this situation. So, your voyage should be quoting you from among the following Fare Codes: N3B - Standard N3A - Plus N3R - Premier If I price this cruise for TWO people, the rates (for IB) are: $1,106, $1,946, and $2,226. This means Plus costs $60/day extra and Premier $80/day extra - as expected. If I price this cruise for ONE person, the rates (for IB) are: $1,281, $2,121, and $2,401. This means once again that Plus costs $60/day extra and Premier $80/day extra - again as expected. Princess is only applying a $175 up-charge for solo cabin occupancy. As I I have read from time-to-time on here, Princess has not been doubling the fare for solo occupancy in many cases. They used to have deals like this a long time back, but then got into just doubling the cost for solo travelers leading up to Covid pause. Note that Princess does not double you up on the Plus and Premier package cost - just the cabin fare. I would say that you most likely have PVP baked into your fare quote. If you take 8% of the $175 solo upcharge, that comes to $14 which is the pricing difference the two of you have been inquiring about. Recommendation: When CC members are posing questions about cruise fares, please keep it to the base fare + taxes and do not include transfers and PVP insurance.
  21. You are right of course and I was rather brash with my statement. I guess I have never felt I needed too much other services in the past as have been pretty self-reliant. I think the "A" agents are worth what you say, but there are plenty others worth a lump of coal.
  22. Guests have reported last year at various times asking for and getting either partial or full refund for MedallionNet. It's not something Princess likely just hands out - although I have read they were giving out OBC rebates to guests when they were not ready to supply the new desserts to guests who had booked the new Plus/Premier Fare options.
  23. First all, the applicable gratuities are already baked into the Plus and Premier Cruise Fare options. Next, Princess had been known to periodically have pricing errors with certain cruise voyages and these may be corrected as noticed or when pointed out to them. Next - and this is nothing new, Princess has been known to discount the Standard Fare on selected cruise voyages and leave the Plus alone (this was in the days prior to Premier), so it would not surprise me to learn this was happening now. Neither one of you has mentioned the voyage, date, and length of the cruise. That said, using the pricing provided by @reedprincess, the difference between the Plus and Premier Fare options is $140 which equates to $20/day x 7 days. So, if this was about a week long cruise, then the integrity of pricing between Plus and Premier is good. And it is only off $100 between Standard and Plus, so it could be a promo. PS - It would be helpful if folks posting about a cruise and pricing would always include the ship, sail date, voyage length, so that others who may want to help can look up with cruise and see if we see the same thing.
