  1. Yes - the on-board experience with the App is day vs night compared to the pre-cruise experience. It's like they had IT resources knowing what they were doing with the on-board sections while the pre-cruise section was worked on by a bunch of kids with no expertise.
  2. If you cancel pre-cruise it should. IDK if it does, however. I just know what the system ought to do, but it cannot be trusted. Hopefully someone who has done a cancel/re-book using the App, will reply.
  3. Next time, go on the new Sun as it appears to only use deck numbers.
  4. I am thinking if two unrelated passengers are booked in a cabin and one applies early and one applies later, it can be overlooked. And suppose cabin changed in between the two applications. I am thinking it happens due to Princess not having a good audit on the process to catch duplicates.
  5. The 50% Platinum & Elite discount was always applicable, no matter when or where a guest ordered, or no matter which package or type of MedallionNet order. Besides the pricing increase, the only change is the on-board pricing is the same as the pre-cruise pricing.
  6. With the new pricing for MedallionNet, it is the same pre-cruise as on-board. The only price I do not know (and have been trying to find out) is what the charge is for individual days. It used to be $20 for single day and I expect that has gone up somewhat. Someone on a ship needs to ask and post it here or we won't know.
  7. Look at the deck plan. The smoking area is the aft-most section on the port side which looks like an alcove. Several slots in that area. No smoking at poker and card tables, plus some slots in the no smoking area.
  8. And I have no doubt we can still do that. My "go to" is to swap all non-alcohol for Perrier and all alcohol for beer brand of our choice(s).
  9. It is nice to see those special add-ons back on menus. They used to be identified as mains from the Crown Grill (which they still should be).
  10. I have often seen Princess fare calculations be "off" in the conversion from USD to CAD. Still, 8% is pretty darn good considering where the exchange rate is these days - over 35% and PCL is using 35% in their general pricing.
  11. At 10 months old, I think this thread should be considered done and dead. Oops - a lot of other responses got in there. Sorry. Anyway, they would have had no issues at all with what they proposed to wear.
  12. I don't think so. Let's realize folks that the coffee program is gone and one single ship exception situation doesn't make it otherwise. No doubt that one ship situation will change. It was an odd program in a way to begin with considering a flat rate per voyage and not by the day. Anything economical has been banished. I do maintain that we will still be able to swap alcohol and non-alcohol items as we have always done.
  13. Surely you have read about people complaining about the remodeling of Island where many new cabins were added on several decks in the aft section and this included removal of aft entertainment lounge (Universe) on deck 7. Overall passenger load increased with a decrease in public space. Otherwise, the ship is fine and we have now been on it twice. As I have said many times, if you present me with two identical itineraries, I am going to choose the ship not named Island. But, we would not hesitate to use it for a desired itinerary. We have done 60 nights around S.A. and another 14 in the Med region.
  14. I bought my supply in Civitavecchia and picked up one or two elsewhere during our travels. IDK how easy other ports are to obtain wine before the cruise. I will say that Civi is not the easiest place to find decent wine at reasonable pricing. But I did find some good values at a FCO duty-free in one of the concourses we walked through after returning from Sicily to board the next ship.
  15. Oh, I see. Yes, the alternate login works and still gives access to other active bookings. Yes, we had same cabin throughout latest B2B2B and it showed as one booking in the App, except when one of them was going through a re-faring at times when I found lower fares.
  16. Yes, it can very much depend on the supply needed and length of voyage. Depending on voyage, supplies can be replenished at ports of call. Most I ever brought on at check-in was two cases. We don't drink much for dinner. I can say it was a challenge to handle two cases in the terminal but we were heading out for two months. I could get additional in South America. If I wasn't bringing on wine, I'd have to re-evaluate because I would have done the Plus at $40 if no BYOW, but at $60, I pass as we would have $73/day to spend on drinks and it takes us at least two days to finish a bottle for certain. I know as always it comes down to personal consumption and habits.
  17. All these increases in the wine menu just make it more justified than even to BYOW which is what I do. I appreciate that Princess allows us to do this and hope it continues.
  18. Wasn't me that posted that quote, but look here: https://book.princess.com/captaincircle/membershipFAQ.page
  19. Sorry for your phobia. Yes, you need an id and password to login to Princess - whether it is on the website or the App. You are expected to do at least some basic registration for a cruise. Other lines have App as well, and anything associated with a personal cruise booking is going to require password access.
  20. It may not be on MUTS, but will be on TV's. Princess has BBC on your cabin TV and that would be best IMO. Also, FOX News will cover it because they covered QE II funeral. So, I expect at least two stations will have it.
  21. No interest in corned beef or cooked cabbage here. OTOH, I wouldn't turn down a beer died green.
  22. That's just folks who don't know who really handles it. Some Stewards may ask the guest to call RS, and some may just do it for them. Less things can go wrong in the exchange request if guest does it themselves. I do it as soon as we get in the cabin so we are among the first on the exchange list.
  23. I see it as a minor change and them hoping it quiets the quell for no smoking. Why don't they just capitulate and ban smoking altogether?
