  1. So here is my question. Does HAL use the train next to the Ore Dock (1st pic) and the other lines use the train next to the rock slides (2nd pic)? ORE Dock and HAL ship on left; train station on right: Train and dock (with rock slides) where non-HAL lines moor:
  2. I would do the ship’s tour with drop-off at the airport (assuming they have one going to MIA). By the time you disembark, grab your luggage, drive to the airport, check in, go through Security and get to your gate, there’s not going to be a whole lot of free time left. MIA is a pain to get to at the best of times.
  3. We upgraded and had NO keys. 😂 Had to drag our carry-ons to Guest Services and wait in line. They told us they were in our mailbox. Uhh… no. That is why I dragged all my crap to stand in line waiting to talk with you. Then they gave us the wrong keys and we had to get new ones. When we finally got in our room there was no access to the balcony because it was full of giant hose and cleaning fluids. Made me wonder if they even knew if we were on this cruise. Unless they were expecting me to clean? 🤷‍♀️
  4. Do you have a particular ship in mind? The response will vary according to class.
  5. That quacks me up. Release the quacken!! Okay, I’m done. Apologies. I used to think it was a weird and awkward thing to do. But I guess it is slowly becoming normalized in my brain because I think knitted ones would be just ducky! (Okay, maybe not done yet. I call fowl.)
  6. The Eurodam is Signature Class and was launched in 2007… one year after the post you are quoting. Welcome to Cruise Critic!
  7. Alaska ports are very walkable for touring on your own… at no further impact to your budget. If you want a good idea of typical excursions, take a look at some roll calls, or at least the roll call for the sailing you are interested in. They will be posting private excursions with costs in those threads.
  8. You’ve been to Alaska. Do the Canada/New England cruise. It’s gorgeous. If you’re hoping for Fall colours, it will be October at the earliest. I would skip the Fall colours and go no later than mid-September to skip the cold snaps.
  9. On my iPad there is a preview icon: When I click on it, I see this:
  10. No idea what the experience is like when you have a TA, but when you speak with HAL, directly, they tell you which rooms are available and you choose from those. It helps to have a deck plan handy.. In my experience, paid upgrades go quickly. There usually aren’t too many rooms available for purchase so you need to act fast if you want one.
  11. Like I said… whether they act on it is another matter. Interestingly, reporting your own post for removal isn’t as common as you would think.
  12. Yes. Now whether they will act on it is another matter. No work to it at all. The post is linked within the “Report” utility so it’s easy enough to go straight to it and hit the “Hide” button. (Posts aren’t actually “deleted”, per se. They’re just hidden from public view and appear as a shaded post to the mods and administrators.)
  13. Would love if they would bring back being able to narrow search to a specific member. It used to be easier to find an old post where I had already responded to the same question someone is asking again, or where I knew a certain member had done so.
  14. I can’t take it anymore. Koningsdam.
  15. Welcome to Cruise Critic! Based on your preferences, I honestly think that Princess would be a better fit for your family than Holland America.
  16. The Starlink Availability Map shows it’s unavailable in your area. There may also be limitations with regard to the type of service plan subscribed to. We’d have to see the contract in order to understand usage and restrictions.
  17. @Scrapnana, it is so nice to hear from you and that you are booked to cruise again. I always enjoy your travel reports and am among the many who was saddened by your news and worried when we hadn’t heard from you. You are cancer free! Now that is something to celebrate. Congratulations and all the best for your cruising future!
  18. I’ve brought them on board in different ports but have never brought them on at embarkation. If you take a look in your booking you will be able to see some arrangements and purchase them ahead of time. Others have reported that they went to Guest Services and looked through a “catalogue” to choose and those arrangements came out much nicer looking. Hopefully someone who has done that comments on your post.
  19. There is a tool to break off posts to a new thread, but I have never seen it utilized on CC. Perhaps the mods don’t have access to that tool, or maybe no one has ever asked them to do it. No harm in reporting the posts and making a request, though.
  20. If you enjoy fresh local seafood, you will enjoy Holland America’s Fresh Fish Program.
  21. Lucerne and Lake Como are amazing. We did them on a land trip, just before the shutdown, traveling by train. The Rhine itinerary is wonderful! I am excited for you. Congratulations!
